Warner Bros has been trying to get its Tarzan movie up and running for several years. Now, I’m hearing that the studios is trying again, and word on the vine is they might well commission two separate scripts that’ll be written simultaneously. One will be by Adam Cozad, a rising scribe whose recent work includes the Jack Ryan reboot and Archangel, the pic that has Tron: Legacy‘s Joseph Kosinski attached. I also hear that the studio is talking to Craig Brewer about doing a different version of the picture. This has been done before on big pictures, and usually the studio makes a decision on which way to go when they both come in. Sometimes, the other script is the next movie in the franchise. But it certainly gives hope that Tarzan will be swinging in the jungle before too long. Cozad’s repped by ICM and Gotham Group, Brewer by WME.

AAAAAA-AH-AAAAH-AHH-AH-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
Bol mangani. Unk!
throw spaggetti against the wall and see what sticks!
whenever I read about the Gotham Group I see that there is a 97% probability that the film will never happen. why is that?
Keep scraping the public domain barrel. Maybe this fall we’ll be blessed with competing Old McDonald’s Farm projects.
Seriously? Tarzan?
With the exception of Batman, when will WB understand nobody cares about Superman, Tarzan or any of the other characters nobody cares about anymore.
I guess that makes sense – nobody cares about… any of the (other) characters nobody cares about anymore.
Except for one thing in your bullnaco rant: what new creation from some new creator is amazing enough, or will be amazing enough, for you? You don’t give a care about Twilight, you think that any new sci-fi/fantasy movie’s shit, and you probably don’t like any of the new cartoons on Cartoon Network/Disney XD/Teletoon/Anime Network/whatever, so I ask you again, if a new Tarzan movie’s crap for you, what new media creation will you like?
This film as appealing as ET-2
I want nothing to do with this one, either. Arf.
Tarzan in Space. That’s the ticket. Boy is raised in the wilds of a terraformed Mars and becomes…MARZAN!!!
Edgar Rice Burroughs was way ahead of you. That’s a whole other franchise that Disney’s got in the pipeline for next year: John Carter of Mars. The books are fantastic and should make a great film.
Hey WB…get this in turnaround ASAP… Universal is looking for material…but, even Universal is probably wise enough to say WTF!
Of course, WB is a king of visual effects films (just ask WB’s Chris DeFaria), so maybe they can make this into another sword fighting, karate chopping, over the top visual effects video game type film to make up the losses from Red Riding Hood and Sucker Punch.
why, Why, WHY???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They should explore the Dark Horse Comics Tarzan multi-dimensional/time-line series.
