After keeping a relatively low profile since the CBS upfront, where the network announced Ashton Kutcher as his replacement on Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen is back in the limelight. I hear the troubled actor has been pitched to some networks and studios for a new comedy series. It is unclear if there is a specific premise or the pitch is only for Sheen’s acting services. According to TMZ, Sheen’s camp is in “deep negotiations” with a broadcast network for a new sitcom that would go straight-to-series. CBS is out of the picture, and sources indicate that ABC and NBC are not happening either. That leaves Fox, where the actor took an exploratory meeting in March, as the only broadcast possibility, though the network loaded up on comedies for next season with three new half-hour series ordered and two more pilots – Family Album and Little in Common – in serious contention for midseason. Present at the March meeting were Fox Sports president David Hill as well as Fox entertainment chairman Peter Rice and alternative president Mike Darnell. At the time, there was a lot of speculation about a Sheen show at Fox or a sibling cable network, but nothing materialized. Also never happened: Sheen’s Corner, the comedy series Sheen was “going to do” on HBO. Or his proposed show on HDNet. Industry insiders are skeptical that a major network or studio would jump in to sign Sheen for a regular series gig. “He is uninsurable,” one top studio executive said. A guest spot on a comedy series is a different story. That could be ratings gold, and I hear many shows are interested.

Of course it would be Fox.
His only way back in would be as a guest star, leading to a story arc, leading to being a regular again… IF he behaved himself every step along the way. But for now… NOT winning.
Would any sane company make a deal with this guy? He’s pretty much made it clear he’s going to do things his way and not bother with rehab.
The only way I see Sheen in another sitcom in the next few years is if he bankrolls it himself. Otherwise he’s going to need some cooling off time for people to start forgetting all this ridiculousness with CBS and Two and A Half Men before he has a real career again.
I agree-Sheen is too much of a liability for anyone to have much faith in him. He needs to get into a rehab, then intensive therapy with possible medication to help alleviate the demons plaguing him that lead into drug addiction, underage girls, and erratic and unstable behavior. Remember, his father was an alcoholic and it can and often is genetically inherited. He also followed in his fathers footsteps, so this was his role model. Addiction is a disease, nothing to be ashamed of, but acceptance of it and seeking help for it can lead him into recovery. He is a good actor, and I do wish him the best, but he must stop living in denial.
“S**t Charlie Sheen Says.”
Yeeeah, no one is going to want a liability. Run out of money already, Sheen?
liabilty? are u an idiot? u know he was the most payed right? liabilty ….. laughing my ass off u idiot
Nobody is “uninsurable”. The premiums just get really expensive, and it becomes a business decision: is the potential return on this star’s participation worth the extra investment?
Of course, you couldn’t expect a studio executive to know that. It would require NOT TALKING OUT OF YOUR ASS like an ignorant douchebag.
Uh, I’m pretty sure that’s what he meant. I think everyone understood it but thanks anyway.
No studio wants to have an actor that has far too high of premium rates to insure. It has nothing to do with Charlie Sheen talking like a douchebag and more to do with Charlie Sheen always overdosing on drugs, alcoholism, and risky promiscuous sex life. It’s the same reason why Lindsay Lohan barely does anything now after she had a promising career start.
Watching 2 1/2 reruns over and over for years still makes me laugh.
Doubt he needs the money as the residual checks have to be huge so he must miss the work and will no doubt be more appreciative this time. Who ever makes this deal will be a genius or lose there job. Tough call to make in a town that is taking fewer risks each year.
Are you kidding? Charlie Sheen is the Howard Beale of 2011. His numbers would get numbers.
Sometimes the Howard Beale of 2011 becomes the “Leave Britney Alone” Guy of 2012.
Amazingly played.
Hell yes i’d hire him! It would be great if his new ‘possible’ show goes head to head with two and a half men. As a share holder in CBS and WB I’m very upset they didnt make things right.
Yes, because it’s certainly not Sheen’s fault in any way, shape or form.
Even if Two and a Half Men sans Sheen is not as successful neither CBS or WB will lose much and it will zero impact on share price (if you really are a shareholder, you should know that).
And that attitude is one of the problems in America right now; stockholders (of any industry) don’t give a shit how their companies make money, just that they make money. It’s despicable.
FYI: Charlie’s the problem here, not the company. CBS, and/or WB, and/or Chuck Lorre made the right decision (finally). Firing Charlie may not help his recovery, but re-hiring him would have been egregious (and greedy) of them.
Go Charley, Go Charley!! Hey let the man be. He will survive and he will be back.. And we all would love that!
Charlie Sheen is an amazing actor who is a bit crazy but that’s what makes him brilliant at the same time. He will be just fine with or without a tv show. I say Go Charlie!!!!
They should give him a new show and air it against the fake Two and a Half man !
That would be perfect
I hope it is true, i miss Charlie Sheen on my screen but given the sources are TMZ i am skeptical about this new sitcom news..i will wait something official..moreover i would prefer to see him on a cable show (more freedom and more chances of better writers) and above all i would prefer to see him come back on movies..a new baseball movie or/and a movie directed by somebody like Tarantino, the Coen Brothers, Tim Burton ect…Producers of course have to be gutsy to work with him so soon ;after all this drama and in his so politically correct atmosphere but it would be worth trying..Charlie has a strong following and intrigues/interests people..it is worth it.
Ha-ha at Tarantino, Tim Burton and Coen bros. remarks. Honey, Charlie Sheen’s movie career was dead years ago. Because he is old. And doesn’t have talent like Clooney or Pitt to act in their age. Just because Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen, Kardashians, Jersey Shore freaks, teen moms idiots are in our faces every day and live on gossip sites it doesn’t mean they are movie stars and can sell a movie. Tarantino and Coen bros. Don’t read Life&Style or TMZ site. And they won’t think: “Oh look at that idiot on the cover or US Weekly. Why won’t I hire him as actor on my movie. Oh look at that Kardashian on cover of InTouch. She looks so talented. I will hire her in my movie”…
That’s why Zac Efron’s movie career is dead. He was everywhere. On every gossip site. Every day. But it didn’t help to sell his Charlie St.Cloud movie. And producers don’t hire him in blockbusters movies. He is the perfect example of how those celebrities live in the gossip sites and every day paparazzi pictures, show up to every event in Hollywood and then think they that are movie stars now. They are not. Charlie Sheen thought that since he was all over the media in USA then it means everyone will watch him anywhere. And then his Tour failed and they were giving tickets for free.
That 2 and a half men gig saved him from “where are they now” list. And he blew it.
Ok obviously you want to bash Sheen but it is pretty clear you don’t know this actor very well.. Charlie Sheen was a movie star far before Georges Clooney, who still at that time tried to make it with some ‘obscure’ and serie-b-zzz movies/tv shows..(for Clooney after tv land success with ER it is Soderbergh who gave him his chance and allow him to become a serious movie actor, the guy was a joke with the batman movie Steven ‘saved’ him in a way and he got bigger whereas he was considered as an ‘old’ actor). Of course if you want some fun comparison between the two guys, they have had once the same girlfriend..Kelly Preston..ha. And you also want to make some comparisons with Pitt ? Really ? Brad Pitt is on every US Weekly covers every freaking weeks, celeb gossip medias are obsessed with the guy as they are with Sheen but it doesn’t stop directors to hire him, (actually..whether we like it or not it increase Pitt’s popularity and make him even more bankable…american society is obsessed with celebs..)
As for Directors like Tarantino, Coen Bros you know Tarantino made his most successful and iconic movie… a certain ‘Pulp Fiction’ with an actor who was said ‘dead as an actor’..you know a certain John Travolta.. Of course these directors don’t read gossip, shallow press but all the industry saw (for the better or the worse) Charlie’s surrealistic and colorful interviews..they watch youtube..be sure of that.
As for reality stars or other teen idol like Zac Efron..come on they are not and will never be in the same league as Charlie Sheen could be even when he is at his low phase..call me when Zac Efron makes a Platoon..’honey’.
So while it is not sure that the guy could make a great come back on movies, it is just possible..Time will tell..
I’m surprised he did this show without ownwership???
NOT WINNING!
Not since Alec Guinness has someone so spectacularly burned his bridges. I can’t imagine any network executive sticking out their neck to order a series based on the reliability of Charlie Sheen. Fox, of all networks, should have learned their lesson when Ally McBeal died a quick death after Robert Downey relapsed and left the show.
Why, b/c Guinness didn’t get along with Lean? All the Star Wars people said he was great and professional. And, pretty damn smart it seems, since he got a 2% of the gross.
And who even remembered Downey was on that crap show. it died b/c it was a bad show.
And what is with all the non sequiturs? Nothing in your posting follows or makes any sense.
Hey Charlie, what’s working twice as hard for one tenth the money called?
Here’s a hint: it’s not called winning.
Yeah just like that non-existence HBO show where he will have 5 million dollars per episode
Dear Charlie Sheen. Please stop calling TMZ and telling them that someone is interested in hiring you.
That failure tour of his didn’t teach him anything. That idiot thinks that since “2 and half men” had 16 million viewers then it’s automatically means that they are Charlie Sheens fans. They are not. They just watch the show. They don’t care about you. And they will not run to see you in the new show. If some idiots will hire him for a 12-episodes show then it still will probably fail. People will show up for the first episode to see that troll just from curiosity. I know I will. But after that no one will return for further episodes.
His guest appearances will not bring golden ratings. Remember all that hype around Jennifer Aniston appearance on Cougar Town? That didn’t translate to any big ratings.
They always put $hit on fox that wont air on any other station maybe he has a last chnce on fox i mean come on look at fox news there only “winning” show is the o’Rily factor and thats getting old charlie sheen will soon realise he may only have one last chance to redeem himself in hollywood take a look back at robert downy he screwed up and came back bigger and better than ever. hollywoods always rootin for a cumback kid.
He should take Tracy Morgan’s place on 30 Rock.
Could FOX be looking at him for a comedy series for 11pm Saturday Nights?
He’s gross, he’s a pig, he’s a degenerate, and he is unliked by a majority of Americans, who are just fed up with his mouth and his idiotic antics and quest for self-glorification. Please, Hollywood execs, for once in your life, grow a pair and stand up to this jerk. Don’t hire him. Don’t feed into that drug-addled ego and hate-filled mouth. Just make this “thing” (he’s not a functioning ‘person’) go away.
Sheen was less and less a reason to watch Two and Half Men for a few seasons now. The supporting cast is far funnier. Still, I have no doubt Sheen will come back from this. He may never have the success he had with Two and a Half Men, and personally I have zero interest in watching Sheen, but he might be moderately successful.
I won’t watch him after what he did to 2 and half men..
