Christopher Meloni, who a month ago surprised everyone by exiting his longtime home as co-star of NBC’s Law & Order: SVU, is in line for a big-time follow-up. I hear he is in negotiations for a major role in Man Of Steel, the Superman franchise reboot from Warner Bros that Zack Snyder is directing. No word yet on what part he might get, though. He would join such big-name players as Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane in the film, which stars Henry Cavill as Superman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Meloni is repped by Gersh and Industry Entertainment.

Perry White?
Lex Luthor? Make it happen!
lol
such a letdown
Personally, I hope we don’t see Lex Luthor in this film. The Superman universe is filled with great villains. Bad enough they’re going with a Superman II retread, but adding Luthor would be even worse.
he Shouldn’t Play Lex,I Mean Come on,He’d be Playing Someone a Thousand Times Worse Then Chris Keller,Even Though I’m Still 50/50 on Rather,or,Not I’m Actully Going to See it,he Needs to Play a Good Guy,For Sure,But Defintly Not Lex Luthor,I’m Probably Not Going to See it,Because The Casting,Espacially The Man Whose Going to be Playing Superman,is All Wrong,It’s Too Bad That The 1,&,Only Superman,The Late Great Christopher Reeve Died,he Could Tell These People Where Their Going Wrong,Hell Richard Donner,Could Tell These People How to Correctly Make This a Decent Superman Flick
Zack,
You have Chris Nolan producing, a cast that grows more impressive every day, and a gazillion dollar budget.
No excuses.
Zack is their excuse for when it fails.
Totally agree!
Luthor, pleasse?! please please?!
surely zack could do better than that
GREAT!
Congrats, Chris! I hope this leads to a great body of post “SVU” gigs.
Would be a great Lex Luthor. Physically imposing like he is in the comic books.
why so little faith in zack? he can do much better than that.
Might he be Lex? That has the possibility to be interesting casting.
kissofdeath indeed
Since Michael Shannon is General Zod, perhaps Meloni is Non.
I’m going to say it’s Lex Luthor! Major role probably doesn’t mean Perry White. I mean, he’s not all that much older than Amy Adams and Henry Cavill in their roles. Lex in this reboot could be about the right age range for Meloni.
Brainiac? Hmmm…maybe, but I see Meloni as a modern Lex Luthor, to be honest.
Or he could be another Phantom Zoner alongside Zod.
But I’m betting on Lex.
Have a good vacation Nellie! And I think this movie will fold by the end of July.
Steve Ross, isn’t he sexist jerk in the Daily Planet offices? Meloni would seem to have the approximate physical size of that character. Luthor would be interesting, but I hope LL isn’t in this version of Supes.
alright clark im gonna go fondle my sweaters
YES!!
Amy Adams ruins everything.
Kate Bosworth ruins everything.
How ignorant.
He’d make a truly impressive, even magisterial Lex, but I wish they’d skip Luthor in this one, dammit. I love Gene Hackman, but the comic nebbish Luthor in Supes II drove me nuts, and the “too many villains” rule still holds. Exhibit A: Spider-Man 3.
tats ur only exhibit?
It has to be Lex Luthor, though, if rumors are correct, there’s still a third evil Kryptonian to be cast.
Another vote for Meloni as Lex Luthor. Meloni’s character in “Oz” was so evil, charming and menacing it would be great to see a truly scary villain in a Superman movie.
I agree. Lex would be a great role for him!
That’s because Crowe and Ormond are playing the Kryptonian parents and Costner and Lane are playing Superman’s Earthly parents, genius.
Agree!
You, you idiot. Superman has biological parents (Crowe, Ormond) and adoptive parents (Costner, Lane).
Costner & Lane are playing the Kents & Crowe & Ormond are playing his Kryptonian parents.
@ gino – Crowe & Ormond would play Supes Kryptonian parents. Cosner & Lane are the Kents
Nuh uh….how about this??? Casey Jones…..that would be freaking stellar!!!!
Metallo.
‘Nuff said.
Costner and Lane are the Kents, Superman’s adoptive parents. Crowe and Ormond are the Kryptonian (birth) parents.
