EXCLUSIVE: Over his career, Christopher Nolan has only gotten involved in producing a picture he didn’t direct when he godfathered Man of Steel, the Warner Bros Superman reboot that’s going into production with Zack Snyder directing. Now, he’s quietly making another exception. I’m told that Nolan’s company, Syncopy, has set up a supernatural thriller at Warner Bros and hired Keith Gordon to write and direct it. Nolan’s former assistant and right-hand guy Jordan Goldberg is the prime mover on the project, and Nolan and partner Emma Thomas will take executive producer credit, insiders say. Details are scant, but I’m told it’s based on a novel whose title I haven’t yet been able to unearth. Gordon is the actor (he starred in Christine) turned director who most recently has been directing episodes of series that include The Killing and Dexter. He’s repped by CAA and The Arlook Group.

Kudos to all involved! Keith is a talented and undervalued director. Great director for Nolan to champion.
Go Richard!
So happy to hear this. Keith Gordon’s movies have been vastly underrated, particularly “Mother Night” and “Waking the Dead”.
Waking the Dead is a terrific movie, and anyone that disagrees is a heartless jerk who has never fallen in love.
Go Gordon Jolberg!
I’ve been waiting for Keith to be huge ever since the incredible “Waking the Dead”. Hopefully this will be it! He’s hugely talented. Looking forward to this.
Great job Darren and Leonard, you studs!
“Waking the Dead” has stayed with me to this day. Well deserved Keith.
So great. Way to go, Syncopy!
This post made me happier than most. Well deserved for Keith. “A Midnight Clear” is one of the best movies about war I’ve ever seen. A very thoughtful filmmaker and a good guy. Glad to see Nolan rewarding a seasoned pro, rather than a flav of month.
I absolutely agree. A Midnight Clear is a wonderful film — great performances, incredibly moving.
Agree absolutely on A Midnight Clear. Amazingly good movie, as were The Chocolate War, Mother Night, and Waking the Dead! I’m so glad Keith is finally getting the recognition he so richly deserves.
A talent for sure and a gem to work with. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy…kudos!
Screw you, Melon!
Has no one seen Chocolate War? superb!
Bastard got to kiss Terry Farrell in Back To School!!! Way to go, Melon!!!!!! I’m awaiting something cool!
Congrats to Dan Aloni!! Way to put this together. Best directors agent in town. He stands by his guys for years and never stops working for them. Most agents would have given up on Keith years ago but despite now repping huge A-list directors, Dan is still working hard for Keith and using his power and connections to Keith’s benefits. Say what you want about Dan and a lot of people will and have reason to, but this type of dedication to a client is sadly rare and therefore worthy of praise.
No comments from family!
The Chocolate War is incredible, and what a soundtrack!
I still think Nolan made a mistake betting on Snyder but Keith Gordon is seriously one underrated director – “Waking the Dead” is truly a hidden gem.
Nolan. You really think you are the master of cinema and try to build your own resume as a master for different genres? You have a lot to learn, buddy.
Keith is one of the nicest and most talented directors! A midnight clear was genius and I hope Keith will now get the accolades he so long deserves.
Very exciting news. Keith’s work is great. Loved Chocolate War and Mother Night. +1 for his roles in Back to School and DePalma’s films. Keith rocked in Legend of Billie Jean!
Shakespeare for everyone!
I learned this in Europe.
