Disney’s next Pixar pic is November 27, 2013. It’s an original project, not a sequel — and it doesn’t have a title yet. And that’s all Disney is saying. Now who knows more info? Meanwhile, Pixar’s Cars 2 opens Friday.

Possibly NEWT?
I am pretty sure that Newt was cancelled.
Newt was definitely canceled. Pixar decided it was too close to the story of “Rio,” and a lizard movie was already done with “Rango.”
Newt isn’t a liizard, he’s a NEWT!! lol
So is Brave no longer 2012 and Monsters 2 no longer 2013?
Brave is June 2012, Monster University is June 2013, Untitled is apparently November 2013.
brave wil have its originally set release date while monsters university will be moved to an earlier date and the same year as this new film
Doesn’t “Brave” come out first, on 6/22/12?
Cars 2 is opening this week? First I’ve heard of that …
Brave?
The Untitled Pete Docter Project
I think it’s 1906. About the SF earthquake and when the dust clears there’s a secret underground society.
1906 is a coproduction between disney, pixar, and for the first time, warner bros. Pixar is only helping with special effects and does not really count as an actual Pixar movie.
I believe Brave is still being shuffled around due to story issues, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if it switched places with Monsters 2.
No way…a trailer just came out for Brave and Monsters University is not even in animation yet. Brave is much further along and will be released next June as scheduled…or Pixar has one hell of a huge hole in their schedule!
How cute would a Pixar remake of Pete’s Dragon be? I need this to happen.
Pete’s Dragon is actually ripe for a remake so I agree. Cute premise with *some* charming scenes, overall not a good movie– doesn’t hold up at all, at least for me.
Part of the fun is NOT knowing what the title and material is…it’s always fun to discover what Pixar has ‘up’ (pardon the pun) it’s sleeve.
I hope it isnt that horrible looking “Planes” movie, the movie that looks like Cars, but with…well you know.
I feel bad for Pixar, Im sure disney will force them to do something that can be milked and marketed within their them parks.
I almost threw up when I heard Disney is doing a Jungle Cruise Movie, great, a two hour movie based on a seven minute out dated ride.
“Planes” is being developed by Disney alone, at DisneyToon Studios, Pixar isn’t involved in any way with that project. It won’t be branded with Pixar’s name. The trailer even leaked on the web, but was later removed. There was no mention of Pixar in the trailer.
Planes is a “Disney” straight to DVD movie. This way Lasseter can blame its quality and failure on Disney and not Pixar. Disney is Pixar. Lasseter and Catmull run Disney Parks and Animation.
Yeah, making a Jungle Cruise film would be as stupid as making a film based on the 15.5 minute attraction Pirates of the Carribbean…
Pirates is also outdated, but considered a classic just as the jungle cruise is. If they approach it like they did the 1st pirates, they will be fine!
Its a movie about dinosaur and will be directed by Pete Docter!!
Hopelly Newt was this movie!!! really i wanted to see it!
I just want an Incredibles sequel or prequel!
I hated cars. and had no intention in seeing cars 2, but in the movies yesterday, they showed a trailer and it did look funny. anyone know if its any good ?
Yeah, CARS was pure punishment, a terrible screenplay.
After the first act, it’s all these asshole cars scolding and lecturing the main character.
I realize they made a fortune selling CARS toys, but even Lasseter must realize it sucked.
I do know they are redoing frankenwenie, which I belive will be a stop motion film
frankenweenie is being done by tim burton and disney and pixar is not involved at all.
Well John Lasseter did say that Newt was only “shelved” with the possibility of returning to production with a revamped story. Considering how pretty much all three Toy Story movies ended up having their plots changed over and over again if that were to happen to Newt it would probably have been for the better.
But right now I’m leaning on it being Pete Doctor’s new project, since unlike Bird and Stanton he went on to his next Pixar project after Up rather than doing something else first. Either way I’m sure it will be awesome!
(Interesting fact, if this release date holds, it will have been the first Pixar movie in 14 years to open the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.)
Anyone able to reveal when this film will have its title confirmed??
Actually newt was shelved because they couldn’t come up with a good enough ending
Actually, Lasseter is involved with “Planes.” They collaborate with him from time to time over at DisneyToons. He’s fully aware of it and fully supports it.
Right. There is a place for ‘Planes’ and that’s with children. There is no reason why DisneyToons can’t make a children’s movie based off of Cars characters. Pixar, rightfully, is staying far away from this project. But I 100% support Disney’s decision to make a children’s movie out of Planes. Children love the characters, so why not give them more of what they love? And if they can make more money off of it, then that means more money for quality films like Pixar’s films and Tangled by Disney. Remember, it’s a business and they need to run it like one. Planes isn’t being made for YOU, it’s being made for children. Pixar films are for EVERYONE and don’t skew to younger kids, for the most part. I think people are going to be blown away by Cars 2 and a lot of doubters are going to have their foot in their mouth once it’s released…good reviews are already pouring in.
I’ll never understand why Lasseter directed Cars 2 but not Toy Story 3. Besides troubled production.
TS3 needed no fixing. He trusted Lee with it 4 years before it was even released. Cars 2, on the other hand, was a trainwreck and if John Lasseter needed to stop focusing on being Chief Creative Officer of not only Pixar and Disney’s Animation Departments, but also ALL if Disney’s theme parks (Tokyo, Paris, DLand, WDW, etc.) then you know it needed to be majorly fixed and honestly, JL was probably the best person to do this. Pete is on a new project and was finishing UP last year, Lee was doing TS3, Andrew is doing John Carter of Mars and Brad was doing Mission Impossible 4. In order to save Pixar’s reputation and make Cars 2 the best it could be, John had no choice but to come back and be the director. I’m sure he didn’t want to, and I’m sure Brad Lewis is a little embarrassed when the CCO has to come clean up your mess, but it was for the best for Pixar…I’m telling ya, Cars 2 is going to be better than most people think!
I doubt brad lewis is still at Pixar after that.
What about Finding Nemo 2?
Who cares? Just sit back and be surprised when it comes out. Good god, this constant need in fairyland to know everything about everything before it’s anything. What a lovely, OCD world, technology has made of all of us.
Here’s a curveball. Given the respect Pete Docter has for Miyazaki and how other Pixarians describe him as an influence, could this be a Studio Ghibli-esque? 2D animated manga?
i hope its bolt 2 please a bolt 2 i love bolt
