Emanuel Nunez has exited CAA. Nunez is the financing wiz who helped put bring offshore companies into Hollywood, particularly at a time in 2008 when those companies decided to bet on specific talent. He was a key point person on making the match between DreamWorks partners Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider with India-based Reliance Entertainment’s Amit Khanna. Reliance also made first look deals with the production companies of CAA clients that included Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Jim Carrey, Brett Ratner, George Clooney and Jay Roach. He plugged in India-based UTV with Overbrook partners Will Smith and James Lassiter, and also M. Night Shyamalan. The Cuban-born Nunez had been at CAA since 1991, brought in by Mike Ovitz and Ron Meyer to find offshore funds for film. The agency confirms he’s no longer there, but claimed it had no information on where he went.

Emanuel’s a great guy and the only one who knows a thing about international at that company. I wish him the best.
great guy, very under-appreciated.
Foreign deals are falling apart because Lovett can’t get his shit together.
i think Lovett has done okay for himeself….
ok = Lovett’s assistant
Manny wasn’t part of some CAA braintrust, he was seemingly a one-stop shop that made deals at the highest level and that required total confidentiality. Producers requiring his services were happy to cross agency lines to deal with him. I’m curious what he is up to next.
Calling him the architect is a pretty big stretch, but that’s agent spin for you…
If you worked with him it wouldn’t be much of a stretch at all. Manny was a great guy and an incredibly hard-worker. Wishing him the best in whatever he does next.
Hard worker, absolutely. Great guy? Hmmm….the guy had an iron-clad rule that he would only hire hot young girls as his assistant. Don’t know if that qualifies him as a “great guy.” Especially considering how often his office door would be closed for long periods of time.
And I don’t know about you….but I spent a few years working in VERY close proximity to his office, so I think I know what I’m talking about.
ps. the notion that CAA – the most powerful agency in the world – has “no information where (Nunez) went”…is laughable. You should have called them out on it, Mike.
Seems like he is well positioned to set up his own shop.
If he was a one stop shop at CAA why give a percentage to Lourd/Lovett when they add nothing of value.
met him once, a real mensch, soft spoken, came across as a man of few words and had a real measured confidence. i’m sure he has something amazing up his sleeve
Manny is a great guy.He will be on to something exciting.I wish him the very best always!
I am so waiting for the other shoe to drop. I will be staggered if he left by choice.
Manny is cool and I modestly helped him get his first client back in the day at ICM. He’ll probably start his own studio or maybe a small, well-financed new nation.
Mr Nunez started his own company and it was about time. I am happy to hear that NuCo Media Group is doing extremely well. What do you expect from someone as talented and well respected as Mr Nunez. I am so happy for him. CONGRATULATIONS Mr Nunez!!!!!
