When President Barack Obama arrived at the Sony Pictures lot in April for a Democratic National Committee fundraiser, most studio employees left early and traffic was tricky. Tonight, it’s the First Lady’s turn. Michelle Obama will attend a fundraiser and discuss the 2012 re-election effort at the home of Michael S. Smith and James Costos. It starts at 6 PM tonight. Among those in attendance will be Linda Lichter, Peggy Lipton, Michael Patrick King, Donna Roth, Suzanne Todd, Jeff Robinov, Bryan Lourd, Roger Birnbaum, Peter and Megan Chernin, Brian Grazer, Kevin Huvane, David and Lona O’Connor, and Ellen and Portia DeGeneres.

Just another lame example of how these people, no matter if their Democratic president is failing miserably, will never EVER vote Republican or for an independent. When is this town going to be more open minded and vote for another candidate for once? Read the following from today’s LA Times:
Michelle Obama will be in Los Angeles on Monday to boost support for military families and to raise money for her husband’s reelection campaign.
In the morning, the first lady will attend a discussion moderated by writer-producer J.J. Abrams about how Hollywood can tell stories of today’s military families through film and television, according to the White House.
The Beverly Hills event is being hosted by several entertainment industry guilds, including the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
Later, Obama will film a guest appearance on “iCarly,” a Nickelodeon television show whose lead character is the daughter of a military officer serving oversees. It’s part of her effort to bring attention to the families of American servicemen and women.

My point is this- the reason the folks in Hollywood never ever support a Republican candidate (of course there are exceptions, but LA and CA are solid Democratic strongholds, just as Texas is a solid Republican stronghold) is because the policy agenda pursued by Democrats most closely reflects the values of this community and state. And if you don’t like it, then shut the hell up, support your Mitt or Tim or Sarah, or move to Texas, where you can ask them- why don’t you ever support a Democrat? Now go back to drinking the kool aide on the Drudge report.

Yeah, Dems are FAMOUS for supporting our military families. The repeal of “Don’t ask, don’t tell” was ALLLLLL about that. (At least, it was about Hollywood’s idea of family, which can consist of a man and his sheep for all it cares).
And how many left-wing celebs have gone out of their way to entertain our troops over in Iraq and Afghanistan? Damn few, Al Franken being a major exception. (But then he’s the kind of “entertainer” who NEEDS a captive audience).

I don’t care if you don’t support the President or the First Lady, but seriously, are you arguing that her program to support healthy eating habits and encourage kids to eat their veggies is, what, anti-American or something? Yes, it’s your right to gorge yourself on crap, or feed your kids crap, but all the First Lady is doing is trying to encourage kids (about 30-40% of American kids are clinically obese and will suffer a lifetime of health problems, and the US Army recently reported that national defense in the future will suffer as the pool of potential soldiers will be dramatically reduced because of the explosion in childhood obesity- so it’s kinda important that they learn the truth that a corn chip isn’t a veggie) to eat healthier.
And yet, a tool like you is so worried about this attempt to draw attention to our national obesity crisis that you will distort the truth to satisfy your own need to be a fat fucking pig. So chow down Ella (and please don’t respond with how hot you are- nobody who is in great shape would take exception to the First Lady’s agenda)- and keep looking, I’m sure there’s more chips under your seat cushion.

What Ella was saying, and what you missed because, typical Dem, you have no sense of humor, is that Michelle is part of the Nanny State (alternate name: Welfare Nation) that her husband is trying to create. He wants to tell the auto industry what kind of cars to build, wants to tell millionaires how to spend their money (“sharing” is how he famously put it) and also Americans how to eat. And the First Couple sure have their hands full because, see, Americans, damn it, we’re just too independent for our own good. Even though the literature is out there about healthy eating, for instance, and has been for years, and PSA announcements are everywhere, some Americans still choose to ignore all of it, because, well, they can, it still being a free country and all (except in certain parts of California). So Ms. Obama’s efforts come across to some people as merely more of same type of nannying (alternate word: nagging) that Dems do so well in their ongoing attempts at social engineering. And some people just find it pandering and annoying. Hence the jokes. So do you get it now? I doubt it. Obviously you haven’t yet grasped the fact that your Hope has amounted to Hype, and that any Change amounts to the measure of income your average American has left in his bank account thanks to the current economy. I don’t mind the woman stumping for her husband’s war chest, but the fact she’s doing so on the public’s dime seriously chaps my ass. Any event or activity that is done for the sole purpose of political fundraising should be paid for entirely by the candidate or their party, period. The only exception to this would be for her security, as she’s going to be escorted by secret service agents regardless of whether she’s fundraising, or popping down to DQ to feed her sweet tooth.
I’m a staunch republican and I’m from the south, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like the Obamas. They are classy and educated unlike the other republican commenters on this site. Way to support our troops, Michelle!
If you really were a republican, you wouldn’t feel the need to qualify the rest of your post by stating as much at the beginning of it. That’s one of the differences between Republicans and Democrats. As for your statement, there is nothing classy about anyone who lives a “Do as I say, not as I do” lifestyle, no matter who they are.

Nice of the WH to provide the cover story that this expensive Air Force trip is somehow about the military. As if Hollywood needs a chat with TFL about making military content. It’s politics, and thanks to a Republican nominated, activist SCOTUS dominated by CJ Roberts, we now have the specter of even more corporate money entering politics even more directly with the Citizens United ruling, a decision supported by the RNC, US Chamber of Commerce and the Club for Growth, and opposed by the President, DNC and other progressive organizations. So of course you want the President and Dems to stop raising money where they can because the RNC are gonna get their pound of flesh– just admit they are a bunch of corporate whores, sent to DC to do the bidding of the big banks and Wall St.
Is fundraising for a political party a new idea or behavior that the Obamas started? Did the other presidents and their wives travel in order to raise money? I am new to this country, so I would like to know. Thank you.
I thought they wanted our troops out of every country we are in (theres too many to name). Obama probably saw that we were spending, or wasting, our money on pointless things and decided to just keep them overthere so the American people won’t become prosperous again. Way to go. I really don’t get why Hollywood likes the Obamas, especially given that its a buisness. As a Libertarian, and as an aspiring film maker, I really hope society can change from being reliant on others to being responsible for yourself.

I read this quote by Obama. His reasoning for why Mark Weiner should resign:
“When you get to the point where, because of various personal distractions, you can’t serve as effectively as you need to, at a time when people are worrying about jobs and their mortgages and paying bills, then you should probably step back.”
And my question to all of you attending the fund raising event tonight is “why does Mrs. Obama need to have the most expensive, over rated and hyped” interior designer, Michael S. Smith on her payroll?” There are many unemployed extremely talented, up and coming Interior designer’s that could probably do the same job, if not better, and for a lot less money, and she chooses this guy?
Just doesn’t add up…SO, should Mr and Mrs Obama should resign? they are obviously distracted by all the glitz and glam the office of the president holds.
