After a week of behind-the-scene drama, Fox, and X Factor USA producers Simon Cowell’s Syco TV and FremantleMedia this morning issued a statement confirming the judge switch on the upcoming reality series. After she was let go 10 days ago and then declined to return to the British X Factor, Cole on Friday night was asked to return to the U.S. show. While the offer raised speculation that it may be a ploy to get the producers out of paying Cole’s $1.5 million fee, according to British papers, the offer was not tied to the singer’s fee, which she would get regardless.
FOX, FREMANTLEMEDIA NORTH AMERICA AND SYCO TV today confirm Nicole Scherzinger will be replacing Cheryl Cole on the judging panel of THE X FACTOR. Nicole will join Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Paula Abdul on their search across America to find the next global superstar or group to win the life-changing $5 million dollar recording deal. Nicole has previously joined Simon Cowell as a guest judge on The X Factor for the UK version of the show in 2010. Steve Jones will act as sole host of THE X FACTOR.

All of this has not stimulated my interest in X Factor…in fact, it has had the opposite result.
I am already bored with this, and it has taken away all desire to watch it.
Am I alone or do others share the ‘burnt out ‘feeling of a show yet to even air?
I know television can be a stupid business now and again, but surely this can’t all be about her accent.
If anything, this just makes Mark Burnett and NBC look very good in their ability to put together The Voice in 1/4 of the time it has taken The X Factor to get itself on its feet (and it hasn’t yet).
Once again FreemantleMedia comes off looking unorganized, unprofessional and pathetic. I’ve never seen an organization so incapable of handling a PR situation. Their PR team is AWFUL and all this crappy press only proves what a joke they are. As one person already said, I’m already sick of hearing about a show I will never watch. Ever.
It’s always a good day when FOX screws up for all the world to see.
This is by far the dumbest “drama” of any reality show as of late. American Idol surprises us all with a panel that has chemistry and reignites J-Lo’s career. The abysmal NBC surprises everyone with a hit show AND with big name talent that also has surprised/shown chemistry and not to mention that Xtina is actually likable.
Now X-Factor comes along, fires a judge after two days work and replaces her with a failed solo act who’s consistently making the reality tv rounds.
Zzzzzzzzzz.
At least Cheryl was interesting/new to US audiences.
This is not a ratings boost, the opposite like tom said.
So they offered her her job back on Friday and made an official statement about her axe on Monday, BEFORE she gave an answer ? It’s official : I don’t care for the US-X Factor anymore. I wanted to see a fresh face on the judging panel, not a Randy Jackson lookalike, the same OLD Paula, the overrepresented Cowell and Nicole ‘zerosolohits’ Scherzinger. It just won’t be ‘fresh’ anymore so I’m sticking with the voice where the judges actually have talent AND experience and haven’t been on a bunch of other talent shows already.
Wow, Nicole is a stone cold fox and may actually drive viewers to watch… Cheryl who?
BAD MOVE on FOX’s part! Cheryl should have been offered more money to return to the U.S. after having been publicly embarrassed so horribly!
This is not a good look for the U.S. X-Factor, Simon Cowell or FOX. Viewers will be turned away by this negative publicity.
I mean… how are people suppose to react when they watch this show, see Cheryl on the judging panel and then see Nicole suddenly replace her two weeks later??? So STUPID!!!
None of this makes any sort of sense and as a fan of the UK X-Factor, this situation (whether staged or real) frustrates and annoys me.
Either Fox and Cowell are inept, or they’ve manipulated the media. Wouldn’t be surprised if Cheryl turns up in some capacity.
TO SIMON YOU HURT CHERYL, SHAME ON YOU SIMONE BOYCOTT THE FOX NETWORK
This show is a sham and with all the drama pointed at the set of judges yet again, it’s AI all over again from last year. Hoping this fails.
TO THE FOX NETWORK IDIOTS. I was at the Sear’s Centre auditions and Cheryl was GREAT as a judge. BRING CHERYL BACK NOW
I am surprised. I thought the CC stuff was all a publicity stunt and she was definitely going to be on the show. No offense to Nicole, but I would have rather seen Cheryl as a judge.
Cheryl cole was the only reason why I would have watched this show
This is a loss on The X Factor USA’s part. Cheryl Cole brought lots of intrigue & charm to the judging panel, and without her, this all seems like a bore now. She is adorably fierce. The fact that people are already saying they won’t be tuning in says a lot. I’m sure there will be lots of opportunities on Cheryl’s doorstep in America. She’s a star, that’s for sure.
X Factor is dead on arrival. Poor Simon will have to watch his show be cancelled while American Idol and The Voice triumph. Anyone who says they predicted this last year is a liar.
So who’s taking her spot on the judging panel of The Sing Off?
I for one am glad Cole is gone. She cannot sing at all, mimes everything (sad). Yes, she’s pretty and I am sure she will get other offers and has £12 milion in the bank because of Cowell. She is nothing special until Simon came into her life. I love Nicole and she has had hits in UK, she won Dancing with the Stars with Derek Hough and she was bette than Cheryl on UK version last year. So well done Fox and Simon. I also love Paula, she is a brilliant choreographer and has had hits also. Why is everyone making such a fuss of a convicted mimer called Cheryl Cole? I say Good riddance.
