YES!!! So unashamedly badass.
Agreed!!! Looks like fun!
This is laughably bad.
What utter lameness.
Fact-based? What facts are we talking about?
this movie is based on the book THE FEATHER MEn about the british SAS special ops guys. i can’t say for sure whether the stuff in the book was true but that’s why they’re saying it’s based on true events. from what I’ve read about all this stuff,it sounds pretty great for a movie.
Wow, one of the crappiest trailers I have ever seen in my life.
RIP Robert De Niro Career.
But not surprised thought, McKendry’s self-important Oscar nominated live action short was also lame.
Self-important short film? Was is self important because it was oscar nominated or because you didn’t direct it? I saw that film and loved it. It’s based on a classic short story so what the hell are you talking about? I’d love to hear the kind of crap films you would deem worthy of a like. But I’m guessing they have to be made by you. Too bad, sounds like that will never happen. Enjoy washing dishes buddy
Why go see it after this bad trailer, I now know the whole plot line and ending. And come on…”hot” trailer?
I think most miss the point. Its an action thriller. Looked pretty thrilling. May not be Shakespeare but it doesnt have to be. Could be a well done kick-ass movie.
Needs more explosions.
what utter shite. that is the only fact based part of this doomed enterprise.
Well played. Tipped hat. Etc. You made me laugh.
It looked more like a sample reel of special effects and stunts than a trailer for an actual movie. I like Owen, Statham, and DeNiro, but what in the hell is this? Two middle-aged and one elderly Bourne kicking and punching and shooting until the director yells cut?
Looks like some great chemistry between the three leads. Looking forward to seeing DeNiro back in an action flick.
Well I’ll be fucked silly. This shit rocks hard.
DeNiro looks like he’s actually been working out.
Please ignore the useless, cinephile movie snobs above. I believe the latest Cannes sensation is that way—->
This looks like pretty much every other Statham movie except with good supporting cast. Crappy, plotless, cheesy action with a good cast still equals, crappy/plotless/and cheesy action.
i went to see Bad Teacher tonight – which was freakin awesome – and i saw this Killer Elite trailer….this movie looks awesome. i will definitely see it and so will tons and tons of other people.
The song “Rock You Like a Hurricane” absolutely dominates this trailer. And not in a good way. That’s one of the problems with this.
The song is so in your face, I think, that it’s really hard to appreciate much else.
Oh Clive, what have you done to your career. How did you end up in a movie with Jason Statham. I don’t even watch trailers for Jason Statham movies. They are all the same. Loud, stupid and in every one of them Jason runs around with the same face expression, the only one he is capable of. And of course he wins at the end.
I can’t believe what Clive Owen has done to his career lately. Is it the bad agent or Clive can’t pick up normal roles. He has to do this B-list movies that no one cares about and no one watches. I looked at his IMDB. He has few movies in production and none of it looks interesting. He has to hire new agent or go and audition for good and interesting movies. And not the movies with Jason Statham. Who’s next? Selena Gomes, Chase Crowford, Kim Kardashian?
Did you not see The Bank Job? A good movie and Statham was good in it.
How about The Italian Job? Snatch, Lock Stock? While I think that Crank 2 is one of the single worst movies ever made, I dig his action flicks. And he is HOT!!!
Another Omnilab classic
The lame Scorpions song COMPLETELY takes me away from enjoying the trailer.
Awesome trailer. Not surprised about the Justin Bieber fans complaining about the song.
All the people crapping on this movie and this trailer have their heads in the sand. This is not some delightful little arthouse gem…. this is a KICK ASS cast and a movie that looks FUN and will probably do tons of business and maybe even more than tons. (And the trailer is great too!)
When will Jason Statham just go away? Or at least just die on the Blockbuster shelf. The Mechanic was a bomb. This doesn’t look much better. His acting makes Van Damme look like Brando. I swear he only has one tone of speaking. And it always sounds like a voiceover to Snatch. Pass.
I love the music supervisor on this project…hilarious.
Yikes! Looks like a lot of fun, but this is way beneath Robert Deniro.
Okay… after watching this trailer about 20 times and reading through all the comments I have this to say…
Who gives a rat’s ass if it’s based on true events or not. That doesn’t matter in Hollywood so then why should it matter if you are looking to have a good time. Yeah Hollywood is losing originality, but nothing is truly original (not your beliefs, personal outlook, daily routine in life, the places you visit, your own personal philosophy). Everything is a remix of something else, a combination thereof, or a complete concoction of various things that “seem” to be original. The word “based” doesn’t mean that it “IS”. Ergo, “based on true events” means the same as “inspired by true events” which basically means (if the burger flippers are smart enough to grasp all this) that the entire finished product is the end result of storytelling about a particular series of events. It DOES NOT MEAN that there were ACTUALLY kickass fightscenes and car chases and daring stunts. There is NO reason why ANYONE should avoid this movie simply because it’s not a history lesson.
As for the film crew from the producers down to the music supervisors… Who gives two flipping shits about a short film that won an Oscar. Frankly I’ve heard worse slander towards sports teams and athletes and Team CEOs and first draft picks. Who gives a crap! (Which is why I hate watching sports and rather watch movies). The film crew are individuals who work hard to bring a story to life in all the aspects that contribute to the final frames. They deserve to be acknowledged for their work. EVERY filmmaker does. It is sad (not just to me) that people can show such disrespect to artists who just want people to have FUN watching this film.
Which brings me to the next point I’d like to make. Thrillers are not SUPPOSED to be Oscar Nominees, they’re supposed to be FUN! Doesn’t matter if you liked the story or not. If you like those movies for the stunts and action then be my guest. Who knows, that may have been the ultimate intention. Who cares if it’s a remake! Do you have any idea how many times the Phantom of the Opera has been done? And yet people like many versions of it. Thrillers and Action movies are there for having FUN!!!!!!!!!! Some can have a neat twist at the end, some may let you try to figure it out yourself, others may be bland plotlines, but it doesn’t matter. There is more than one way to have fun watching a thriller/action movie and they don’t ALL have to be intellectually stimulating to produce that enjoyment. It’s all ENTERTAINMENT whether it is a work of art or not. NO movie is meant to be a gem. Film is nothing more than a way of telling stories and everyone has their own way of telling it. To all you stuck up assholes: “Stop being so prissy! Get over yourselves! Stop trying to be artistic and/or practical critics who think you’re important! You’re not! No one should be! A story is a story and if you don’t like it then suck it up, move on with life, and stop fucking complaining! You say you’re human? You’re parasites!”
People shouldn’t take anything about this movie or any other movies seriously. And you know what NO ONE’S opinion matters. Everyone’s opinion on ANY film of ANY genre is just about as worthless as the points in Whose Line is it Anyway. Even my opinion is completely worthless, but what differs mine from most of the negative comments about Killer Elite is that mine carries WEIGHT and TRUTH.
Was my comment serious? Yes. Did I say that movies shouldn’t be taken seriously? Yes. So then why am I being utterly serious with this comment? Because it deals with the commentators on this page who are overreacting. I, on the other hand, am not. I am attempting to quell the waters and end this SENSELESS fight. People need to get over themselves and move on. There is nothing to be gained here. I certainly am not looking to gain anything from this comment and I know nothing beneficial will come of it. So anyone who ends up hating this comment feel free to reply; I could use the entertainment because i love to laugh.
Am I biased? No. I’m simply defending an unprejudiced position for KILLER ELITE and any movie in existence, the gems AND the fun ones.
FYI: in case you “burger flippers” were wondering… I’m a nurse. Yeah, that’s right, I’m a Gaylord Focker and proud of it. I take care of people when they can’t take care of themselves and preserve their integrity and dignity which you obviously haven’t shown to have with your pissy comments. Courtesy is beneficial, not commenting on a website about how much you hate something. However, I do not show courtesy to those who show none to filmmakers, storytellers, and other commentators who have placed their comments above and below mine. Treat others as you want to be treated. (Which shows you I’m not interested in being treated nicely by you, and frankly anything you could say to slander me would only make me laugh).
True statement from one commentor, there’s nothing “original” coming out of hollyweird except for revisionist crap (“True Grit”with jeff bridges!?? and those two retarded cohen monsters bahhh!! what a feeble joke!!!) Sam Peckinpah’s original version from 1975 is still the best!!dazzling!! true enough Peckinpah would occasionally get “muddled” in a storyline but very few in his era could do better, nobody to even compare him to in this generation,Peckinpah was a renegade in his own time but if you look at some of his films you can appreciate his genius,he had a few contemporaries of his time (John Ford,Don Siegel) but I think Peckinpah was quite an original a “one off” “The Killer Elite”-1975 stars James Caan and Robert Duvall. Director:Sam Peckinpah
