Did absolutely NOTHING for me.
That could not have been what they were hoping for.
I’m sure ‘they’ could care less what you were hoping for.
With Brad Bird directing, I have a certain degree of faith.
Tom Cruise is ridiculous, but I love this series and the effects in the trailer looks phenomenal.
yeah no matter what you thihk about tom this looks fucking bad.
Dear No One of Consequence
I’m laughing at the idiocy of you racing to be the first one to post a negative comment.
Can only mean you’re at a competing studio, or that you’ll actually be the first on line to buy a ticket, but you’re too cool to admit it. I’m betting on the latter…
This trailer looks fantastic.
competing studio ? too cool to admit it ? Do you hear what you’re saying ? How old are you ? 12. I’m laughing at your stupidity.
Had no idea I would be “first” to post anything, As you know, there is often a delay in comments posting to the site, so I merely offered my thoughts on the trailer when I saw it.
Let me assure you, I am neither at a competing studio, nor am I at any studio nor have any financial interest in the success or failure of Mission Impossible 4. Also, the last movie I was first in line for was probably Jurassic Park. At this point, I really only see 1 or 2 movies a month in theaters, but never on opening night (usually first weekend, though).
In case anyone actually cares, I didn’t care for the trailer because it seemed like a bit of a jumbled mess of action moments, none of which really stood out as anything special. I just didn’t feel that “wow” moment that made me say MI4 is going to be anything other than run of the mill.
I am as excited as anyone that Brad Bird is directing (Iron Giant and The Incredibles are 2 of my favorite films), and I do like Jeremy Renner. Simon Pegg is funny, too, though I do hope he is more than comic relief, like he was in the 3rd one and Star Trek. As far as the MI series, I didn’t care much for the first 2 but the third was kind of fun (though completely unbelievable i some senses. I am kind of curious to see if Tom Cruise can get his mojo back.
So, I am just a normal guy saying The trailer didn’t do it for me. Movie might still be good, it might still suck, who knows. I still don’t think Paramount cut that trailer hoping a guy like me would say “whatever” to it.
dont come off your initial take…it didnt look very good to me either.
wow – a very, good reply. We need more of this, because it’s not enough to just lay down a poorly thought out rebuttal anymore. Putting trailers together can’t be easy, and can’t please everyone, but for some reason I can’t imagine Brad Bird even listens to Eminem.
I always love the haters of action movies. You don’t like it because its “a jumbled mess of action moments??” Well, it is an action movie – what exactly are you expecting?
The only way the bar of action movie can possibly be set higher is with the development of technology, like with Transformers.
Most people aren’t going to see action movies for the strong character arcs and poignant emotional moments. They are going to watch things blow up. A lot. And that is totally fine.
Agree. Watching Cruise run around constantly is annoying!
Then don’t watch his action movies which are few and far between because he’s an ACTION star!
IF YOU ARE A TRUE ACTION FAN, YOU KNOW THERE IS SOME GOOD AND SOME BAD BUT THIS WILL NOT BE A BAD ACTION MOVIE. THE MISSION SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO EXCEPT IT IS TO GIVE THIS MOVIE A CHANCE. WHEN THE DUST SETTLES THIS WILL BE A HOT ONE.
Yeah, i choose to EXCEPT this mission.
REMEMBER the #1 rule of deadline:
If you don’t have anything bitchy to say, don’t say anything at all.
Meh. That trailer was just so, meh.
Eminem sounds stupid. Simon Pegg will be this film’s good luck charm, and probably most of its other charm. All in all, the trailer appears to suck less than I imagined it would.
I agree. Eminem is horrible, and the part of the trailer with his “music” in it was ruined. They should also unleash the M:I theme fully at the end and let us hear it!
Eminem is amazing. Stop hating.
Eminem’s a lowlife. We’re done with ghetto, thank God.
Damn I thought we were in new age of espionage films after Casino Royale and Bourne franchise. Guess it back to flash and no substance
Well, we got Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy coming.
You’re forgetting how incredibly mediocre QUANTUM OF SOLACE was, which almost completely erased the momentum that CASINO ROYALE created for the Bond series.
Why, because it did nothing for YOU?
Yes, I’m sure they’re devastated that YOU didn’t like it.
Seriously. What’s it like to live in a constant state of delusion?
BTW, the trailer is all kinds of awesome. Brad Bird, ftw!
agreed.
Was kind of surprised to see the negative take on this trailer. I thought it kind of looked awesome. They just sold me a ticket.
Agree with Veteran Assistant. Quantum of Solace was garbage on any number of levels.
MI:4 looks HOT though, fuck the haters. Big Tom did $100 million playing a goddamn NAZI in Valkyrie, ’nuff said. And this’ll be the one to launch Paula Patton’s fine ass into the stratosphere. My only beef is the absence of Ving Rhames. Can’t have two black folk in the same tentpole flick?
Haha, just kidding.
Uh, no. Looks amazing.
Ethan Hunt and disavowed imf agents out to prove their innocence? Sounded good when I first saw it and it was called mission impossible 1.
…And then the team was promptly betrayed and killed. Seriously, crushing Emilio Estevez in the elevator kind of ruined the franchise for me, right at the start. Yeah, I’ve watched them all, but not in the theater. Sorry, Tom!
What are you sorry for? That first one may have ruined the franchise for you…but the second one was the biggest movie in the world the year it was released.
this one looks very, very good.
Sign me up. Looks awesome.
You’re nuts NOOC.
Bitter commenters as usual.
Very good trailer. And hear the flick is great.
Jesus Christ! This looks incredible! I just really hope they utilize as much of the cast as possible this time. It’s so frustrating to see Tom Cruise steal all of the wonderful moments in a film this large. There are enough big moments for everyone, including even Simon Pegg! I’m in for seeing in. Hopefully the next trailer has a little Ving Rhames action in it. Good to see Jeremy Renner in the game to finally take the wheel of the MI series. We’ll see.
Looks like they took the cheesiest parts of the fast n furious series and added 50% more cheese.
Did they film that scene of Cruise scaling that building or just superimpose the rock climbing open from MI II over it?
Wasnt hoping for much, but even with that low standard expectation this was still disappointing.
I don’t know what you all are babbling about, but the first trailer did exactly what it should: highlight the action.
What?! I thought this was hot – and Tom seems to be in fine form. This could be the best MI yet.
you guys are crazy and swimming with snarks…that was pretty damn cool
Brad Bird, people. Fantastic storyteller. If he was able to make you care for a Rat giving cooking lessons in Paris; he can certainly pull this off.
That looks pretty good. Funny that people are expecting “substance” from a movie trailer.
Yikes…not much of a trailer. Lotsa ‘splosions, tho!
Um….there are two ‘splosions. Lotsa ‘splosions was MI2 trailer.
I thought it looks EXCELLENT! Love the actors and the spectacle of it…can’t wait to check it out!!!!
Really? All that money for a confusing bland uninspiring trailer that offers nothing. Who does Brad Grey blame this one on?
Did you really think it was confusing? That’s adorable.
Tough crowd. This is not supposed to be The Albert Einstein Story folks. Relax. Tom needs a hit and goodwill and this flick will provide both.
Brad Bird has never disappointed with his past animated efforts. And despite his off-screen shenanigans, Tom Cruise remains one of a precious few genuine “movie stars.” I’ll be checking out “Mission: Impossible 4″ opening weekend.
Well, how do we sell this one? I’ve got it – let’s cut a bunch of explosion/action shots to an Eminem song..
appreciate you giving the writers credit, Nikki
Appelbaum & Nemec are the real storytellers here..
I wouldn’t be bragging about it… surely I wasn’t the only one who cracked up at “Somebody blew up the Kremlin”?
Sounds like something a 12 year old would come up with.
Why are so many people trashing this? It’s Brad Bird for god fucking sakes. This looks like the kind of over the top action film that transformers wanted to be but could never achieve.
I will definitley be seeing this and Girl With The Dragon Tattoo come Christmas.
GET SOME!
You idiots snarking. This is exactly what we want in a movie called Mission Impossible 4. Great trailer. TC is still the best runner in the history of hollywood.
Of course the script could — and should be much nuanced than the general premise conveyed here, but nonetheless, what is conveyed here is that the concept is that hunt and a band of IMF agent have to clear their names to a world that thinks theyve gone rogue.
Who is this “WE” that wants see a film with same premise as MI I?
LOL if you think people want to see an MI 4 film closer in tone the fast n furious than a bourne or casino royal.
which of course it very well could be as this just a bunch of smash cuts of stunts. maybe theyre just trying to trick the meatheads into getting geeked up for it by playing it dumber than it is.
I have faith in bird and hope he suceeds with this, but really hope their is more to the premise than the retread of the original’s concept.
