DreamWorks Animation is hoping the Shrek spinoff Puss In Boots fares better than Kung Fu Panda 2, which didn’t take off as expected domestically last month (though it is rallying internationally). DWA is in the middle of the current Wall Street discussion about the future of 3D , so a hit here would help soothe some fears on that front. Antonio Banderas reprises his role as the suave kitty; the movie is due out Nov. 4 via Paramount.

what’s with the soundtrack sounding like Pirates of the Caribbean’s?
That was the original soundtrack for The Mark of Zorro but it was also used in the trailers for Pirates of the Caribbean (not sure if it was in the actual movie though).
BTW, that was an amazingly hilarious trailer. I love the part with the flash light, milk and the ain’t over easy joke.
Is the movie just going to be “cat” jokes?
And “egg” jokes?
I haven’t a clue but those jokes were funny
Hans Zimmer scored both Puss in Boots and the Pirates films, so a similarity isn’t surprising. Zimmer has a long working association with Dreamworks Animation.
IMDb says Zimmer’s protégé Henry Jackman is scoring Puss.
Kitty Softpaws is a great Bond girl name.
Some great gags in that trailer. It looks heads above any of the recent Shrek films.
I realize this is a spin off from Shrek, but Dreamworks (other than HTTYD) seems to be stuck. They need to try some new ideas and new animation techniques.
Sure, Pixar does the sequel routine, but the difference is that they also keep coming up with wonderful stories and execution of them such as Up and Wall.E.
Jeffrey, you need to stretch your vision, because it all looks very much the same…and, Shrek burnt out from too many Shrek films.
Need new stuff…Dreamworks…and, maybe, that stock will be worth something.
Agree with you, tom. I can’t see audiences heading to the plexies in large numbers to see this, not in 3D, not at today’s prices. Rental, sell-through or VOD, sure. I think Jeffrey needs to be rested already. The vision’s no longer 20-20.
looks pretty funny.
This trailer has made me do a 180 on my thoughts about this movie. I cannot wait to see it. Looks awesome.
