EXCLUSIVE: Former Ugly Betty star America Ferrera has signed with ICM. The Emmy-winning actress had been without an agent for the past few months since leaving WME, where she was a long-time client from the Endeavor side of the company. She signed with ICM after meeting with several other agencies. Following her breakthrough performance in the indie Real Women Have Curves, Ferrera hit stardom on TV as the lead of the ABC dramedy Ugly Betty, which earned her an Emmy and a Golden Globe. She recently did an arc on CBS’ drama The Good Wife. Ferrera’s feature credits include The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and How To Train Your Dragon franchises. She continues to be represented by UK agent Christian Hodell, manager Jon Rubinstein and attorney Jodi Peikoff.

Why???? What a terrible move
Disagree – personal experience; ICM trumps WME in client care.
Great sign for ICM but a mistake on her part.
America should return to television instead of making bad movies. She’s beautiful and funny but not a movie actress.
Strickler’s on some beach in Thailand right now laughing his ass off about this one.
Looks like WME isn’t taking care of its clients, so they are beginning to leave. I figured it would eventually happen.
Seeing this girl’s picture pop up on deadline suddenly made my skin crawl. I worked in close proximity to her for a time on Ugly Betty. She is a first class nightmare. Pretentious, mean, needy, manipulative, she is every actress cliche rolled into one. Karma is a bitch and I hope this step down in agency representation is just the beginning.
A great move for her and ICM. She’s incredibly talented, and she’ll get the attention she deserves.
Thank you, Kel.
Now please make sure my w/e read is ready by the time I get back from lunch and don’t forget to watch every episode of UGLY BETTY this weekend in preparation for next week’s staff meeting.
i said this way back when. but the first year of ugly betty was pure genius. the second year on totally sucked especially the last season when america’s character was pushed more and more into the background and the campiest characters in the cast were played up.
she has great comedic timing and hopefully she will one day play the lead in a female version of 2 1/2 men.
she was also in ‘real women have curves’. i know we dont like to mention that one because she was fat and wearing bad clothes and no makeup, but thats where she started. she was ugly betty for a reason! (and i really like her- i’m just sayin…)
Having worked on the set with America, I can say definitively that she is a difficult diva who needs to get over herself.
Good move for ICM.
Agree with TV Guru. She needs another series!
challenging career for this lady whatever agency she is at
Congratulations to America on the move. I wish her a lot of success in the future. I’ve always been a big fan of Ugly Betty and I thought her character was great. I’ve never had the opportunity to work with America but I’m a big fan and have tried to ignore all the negative stories I’ve heard from friends and colleagues who have worked with her. I look forward to seeing what she does next!
