It seems that comedy minds think alike. Like Pee-wee Herman, Jimmy Kimmel too is parodying Melissa Leo’s glam Oscar ads in the Emmy campaign for his ABC show Jimmy Kimmel Live. Luckily, a red carpet disaster is averted as the two funny men went for different gowns. And while Pee-wee opted for some good ol’ photoshopping in the Emmy ad for his HBO special, Kimmel went all out, recreating the look by modeling a low-cut black dress that closely resembles Leo’s. In February, Leo famously paid out of her pocket for the two glammed-up shots that she ran as trade ads supporting her Oscar bid for The Fighter, an award she ultimately won (along with all other major movie prizes this past awards season). If Kimmel or Pee-wee win, they better thank her in their acceptance speeches.

This would have been amusing about six months ago. What next? Jokes about Y2K?
I understand that “about” means “around,” but “The Fighter” wasn’t even released six months ago. (That being six months from today — June 3rd, 2011.)
YAY FOR MATH!
what a douchey response
I know, I loved it!:)
Um, THE FIGHTER was released Dec. 17, 2010, which means Leo would have been doing her Oscar campaign around January, which is, let’s see, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 – about 6 months ago. Am I missing something here? Did you not have your calculator in front of you?
With that being said, I don’t agree with the douchebag response above – I think Jimmy’s pic is funny as hell.
Wow, if you’re that good with numbers you should go work for Relativity.
Hate to break it to you sweetcheeks but the Fighter was released in 2010 which is why Melissa Leo was in the running for (and won) her Oscar earlier this year. If it had been released in January as you for some reason claim, she wouldn’t have gotten the nomination. Nor would Christian Bale have been able to win. Now who’s the dumbass?
If you read the upper post a little bit more carefully, you would see that it said Melissa Leo began campaigning in January, not that “The Fighter” was released in that month.
Try reading and understanding a post before commenting on it, Basil. You Math said that Melissa started her Oscar campaign in January, not that the movie was released in January.
internet tough guys make me laugh
wow basil, you got owned.
Kimmel actually looks better – Christ!
Kimmel is clearly a moron. First he rips off a Fallon Boyz 2 Men bit and now this. His ratings are awful but ABC sticks with him. So weird. Wish he gets canceled. Zero shot an any awards.
Pee Wee’s is funnier. Sorry Jimmy.
In response to a doucheier initial one. I think Pee Wee’s original idea is brilliant and waaaay funnier!! YAY PEE WEE!!
Lazy! Why photoshop when actually recreating the pose would be so much funnier?
Just be glad there was no “wardrobe malfunction.”
They’re both funny. And they’re both referencing the most recent awards season. Everyone might enjoy their lives a bit more if they stop being dick heads for no reason.
Great point! The snarky bitterness is to be expected. It’s the entertainment industry, a magnate for dick heads. Hence most of the nasty comments you find on this site.
they ALL look beautiful. they bring a smile to my day.
Because all of this asshattery is ever loving killing me, the original Melissa Leo pictures hit the Internet on February 4th, 2011. Today is June 4th, 2011. It’s only been four months and honestly… I find both Jimmy and Pee-wee to be absolutely hilarious. (Even if the joke is six months old… somehow.)
Big difference is PeeWee Herman is not the least bit funny. But Kimmel hits it out of the park every time.
Whoa. “Baby got back!” Padded girdle there, Jimmy? Lookin’ good, sweetie.
PEE-WEE TRUMPS JIMMY, LIKE PAPER COVERS ROCK – GREAT PHOTOSHOP JOB!
How much weight was Jimmy Kimmel lost? That’s the big revelation here
Errr, people in “Hollywood” mocking people promoting themselves. What was the big deal about those consider me ads?
Maybe someone should tell Jimmy Kimmel that he shouldn’t lead with his cleavage. Or Pee Wee to stay away from faux fur. But, then, a lot of people told Melissa Leo — after the fact — that she shouldn’t pay for her own “Consider…” ads. And then she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Fighter
Jimmy looks great. His show is consistently funny. But yikes no more Pee Wee please. He’s old and over and so so not funny.
Pee Wee’s photo is hilarious. Jimmy looks creepy. Don’t watch either show.
