EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros and Zack Snyder are in talks with Julia Ormond to play Superman’s Kryptonian mother, Lara Lor-Van, in Man of Steel. I expect the deal to make shortly. Russell Crowe has been offered the role of Jor-El, the father of Superman (Henry Cavill). Kevin Costner and Diane Lane were previously set to play Clark Kent’s Earthbound parents. This comes after Ormond completed the role of Vivian Leigh in the Simon Curtis-directed My Week With Marilyn, which stars Michelle Williams, Emma Watson, Dominic Cooper and Kenneth Branagh. Ormond’s repped by Gersh and Artists Independent.

Yeah no ones going to want to see the Superman movie that will have from the creators of Batman Begins, The Dark knight, and The Dark Knight Rises over every trailer, commercial, and billboard.

And Spielberg produced the “Lovely Bones” and Burton lent his name to “9″ and did that mean squat to audiences? When have audiences ever shown they cared about the producer of a movie?!

And neither of those examples you cite are among the most recognizable characters or intellectual properties in the world. You are hard-pressed to go to any place in the world where people would not recognize Superman, and that is something that “Lovely Bones” and “9″ did not have going for them.
That wasn’t the claim. The claim was audiences care about producers. Obviously they don’t. Your new claim is that everyone loves a once famous property. Obviously they don’t, or Superman Returns would be getting a sequel. What’s your next fail claim?
Only way this movie fails is if the script absolutely sucks. Way too much talent involved.

the writer of The Unborn uses the word “non-linear” like its a magic totem. Taking a 100 percent boring story and telling it out of order, lessens the boredom a good 10 percent. So now the movie is only 90 percent boring. That is being generous and assuming the non-linear doesn’t increase the audience boredom by feeling like it is dragging everything out. The fiasco of this can not be overstated.
This and The Three Stooges movie.

Agreed. This movie has a definite feel of Warners trying to drum up excitement IF it happens, but they aren’t betting on it ever actually happening. It generally doesn’t take as long as this movie has to come together. We should have been hearing SOMETHING about this being in production right now.
There is definitely a “strange”, for lack of a better word, feel to this project right now. It is in the head tilt when people speak about it, and in the word choices they use. I can’t put my finger on it. There is something off and ODD in the undercurrents. You can feel it in the air. Something isn’t right and something strange is going down.

They start filming on 22nd august, but man of steel won’t be released until December 2012, Kate beckinsale for Lara would be nice, David Rasche for Perry white, Colin hanks for jimmy olsen, Natalie dormer for Lana and Timothy olyphant for lex luthor.
All that talent and she chooses to play a mother to superman? Hardly challenging for her – but it probably pays well.
