EXCLUSIVE: Indie outfit RicheProductions is part of a group that has acquired rights to online live-video portal Justin.tv for feature film and TV development. Justin.tv averages 31 million users a month — the site says a live video starts on the site every second — many in the coveted male 18-34 demographic. Among its recent initiatives is the video-sharing app Socialcam and video game network TwitchTV. All will be ripe for exploitation across multiple media platforms for RicheProductions, which is teaming with Amnesia Inc’s Lee Kramer and J&R Creative Media’s Rebecca Wiegand and Jessica Massa on the rights deal. “We are thrilled to be in business with Justin.tv and the entrepreneurial spirit the founders and the company represent,” Peter Riche said. “We look forward to exploring the many creative possibilities in film, television and across all media outlets.” RicheProductions, led by husband and wife Alan and Wendy Riche and son Peter, is among the executive producers on HBO’s recently announced half-hour comedy project that has Goldie Hawn attached to star and Darren Star writing and exec producing.

I can remember watching Justin’s first broadcast from an apartment in San Francisco, with 3 other guys from Yale and MIT. He would go around San Francisco with a camera on his baseball cap and a small Sony Vaio laptop in a backpack. Then moving to a larger apartment, then to a regular office.
They’ve come a long way.
And here I thought people only used justin.tv to pirate live sporting events…
couldn’t happen to better people. go get ‘em, peter!
AND they’ve got the Eminem starrer Southpaw going at Dreamworks! Looks like 2011 is the Year Of the Riches! Go Team Riche!
Snorers get this
this site is illegal and should be taken down… Im surprised anyone in Hollywood could possibly support their pirating of movies and PPV events…
Hey anonymous, before you make a statement that Justin.TV is an illegal site please do your homework and you will find its actually individual users who are doing the illegal activities and Justin.TV does police and throw these users off like any other site. Next time use your name. LK.
Shut Up! Freedom Hater!
There’s been a huge amount of piracy on many of these live video sites including Justin.tv. It’s a whole new frontier of piracy since it’s live video.
I guess it’s no surprise that it’s not a mainstream media company that is partnering with them.
And LK? JTV doesn’t police it’s own site, that’s the problem. They don’t take down the copyrighted content, the copyright owners tell them to or it wouldn’t be taken down at all. And then the same people who were streaming it come right back and do it all over again, with JTV’s blessing. Why do you think Zuffa is suing them? JTV enables pedophilia and gives online pirates a platform to stream illegal material, then people like you claim that JTV does a fine job of policing their site? Have you ever actually BEEN to JTV?
I find it ironic that someone going by the anonymous Moniker L.K is telling someone to use their name!.
For your inforamtion LK… JTV do not police their site at all. They have sections dedicated to sports and movies and if you look at the channels in those sections you will see that they have had thousands of views. If the site was policed then this would not happen.
Justin.tv is a bad un-monitored website. The social directory is full of porn, underage kids and pedophiles harassing teenage girls and telling them to show and get naked. When you try to help JTV keep the chats clean or report the channels, you get an IP ban and not the pedophiles or perverts. The site is corrupt. The admins and staff only listen to certain friends and puppies and the average community is ignored. Broadcasters that do get banned return over and over and broadcast for hours and days before getting banned again. The support is terrible. It takes more than a month for response and usually, they don’t respond at all. When you get accidentally banned from this site, you can forget it or change your IP. Justin.tv is definitely not a family site. If you want to watch Porn, DMCA movies and television shows with sex and nudity, JTV is the place to go.
I love the way these ‘industry folks’ constantly complain.
Listen…
You lack creativity!
You NEVER know what people actually want (or maybe you do, but you’re paralyzed by contemplations of how to whore it – ie, pure greed)
And now your greedy ways are catching up to you.
I mean come on! Really – look at you sitting here complaining about being sh*tted on by JTV, while a popular movie theater business in my area is struggling to stay in business because YOU are now selling PPV to New Movie Premiers.
News Flash – WE DONT NEED YOU GUYS ANYMORE!
