EXCLUSIVE: Oly Obst is leaving Underground Films & Management to join 3 Arts. Obst, who had been at Underground for four years, will bring clients that include Matt Robinson (The Invention of Lying), Reed Agnew & Eli Jorne (Raindrops All Around Me), Nichole Beattie (Prime Suspect), Davd King (Parks and Recreation), Craig DiGregorio (Chuck), Tom Donnelly & Josh Oppenheimer (Conan the Barbarian), Tom Gormican (Are We Officially Dating?), Andrew O’Connor (Peep Show), Charly & Vlas Parlapanides (Immortals) and Ricardo Do Montreuilo (The Raven).
Obst leaves Underground on amicable terms with partners Trevor Engelson and Nick Osborne. “In the four years we’ve worked together, Oly has become a very close friend to both of us. He’s a great manager and we wish him the best.”

Oly is awesome. He is probably one of the best managers of all time. He belongs in the managerial hall of fame. What Kevin Costner did to “Field of Dreams,” Oly does to the managerial community. He’s built a hell of a client roster, and more will come. I wonder what Phil Alden Robinson is doing these days?… SNEAKERS 2?

A great fit for them both. Oly is a energetic, young talent with literary clients that will help round out 3 Arts existing roster. Underground still kicks ass but no doubt they’ve lost a valuable commodity in Oly.

Oly is the Dirk Nowitzki (notice I didn’t say Lebron)of managers. He’s a winner and 3 Arts will benefit greatly from his expertise, relationships and facebook wall posts.
What poor assistant is writing all this praise as Oly supervises? The guy is a lot of things, but “honorable” is NOT one of them. He’s a sleazy douchebag who is basically allergic to telling the truth, but with an admittedly great eye for talent. Seriously, let’s not confuse ambition and charisma for ethics and respectability.
Oly has represented my brother I and for four years. Never once has he lied to us. About anything. Ever. As far as I’m concerned that is what you pay a manager for. Creatively he gives us great input and on the business side he is brutually honest. He might be “slick” or a “wise-ass” but he is most definately not sleazy. In fact, I think he is one of the few decent people we know in this town. He is also one of the few people I would run through a wall for. Congrats on the new gig, Oly! We are excited for you. But we will miss Trevor, Nick and the entire Underground gang.
Oly is an awesome dude. He is funny as hell, unafraid, ballsy, self-effacing, and a truly fucking decent human being.

War Of The Gods AKA The Immortals, is probably one of the worst spec scripts I have ever read. It’s practically unreadable.
I would say Oly is an extraordinary manager for selling that script, but it sold to Relativity…

That’s why I always say don’t judge ‘em, sell ‘em. Dumb scripts sell all the time. And if you look at the history of movies all kinds of stuff gets bought, made, and twisted all around. Whether it is a dumb Vin Diesel movie or some lame border actioner or whatever.

Wow. Bad move by both sides. Oly is actually gonna do some work rather than smoke and drink at the Underground “mansion.” Trevor runs the show and is a classy guy with a real client base. Oly is wanna be Hollywood bully-fratboy. Now it’s time to get to work.
