EXCLUSIVE: Lucy Punch has been tapped as the female lead in the FX drama pilot Powers. Based on the graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, the project, written by Charles H. Eglee and to be directed by Michael Dinner, is a police procedural set in a world where superpowers are relatively common. It centers on two detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim (Punch), in a Homicide department that deals with cases involving “powers” (people with superpowers).
Eglee, Dinner, David Engel and Brian Bendis are executive producing for Sony Pictures TV and FX Prods. Filming is slated for mid-summer in Chicago. This marks a return to series television for the British-born Punch, whose first major U.S. role was on the CBS comedy The Class. She has been busy in features lately, appearing in Dinner for Schmucks and Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger. Punch, repped by WME, the Schiff Co. and U.K’s United Agents, will next be seen in Sony’s comedy Bad Teacher, which opens this weekend.

This involves Circle of Confusion. Their karma is very very bad. I will steer super clear of it.
Yes, because clearly The Walking Dead is a failure.
She’s so hot. Is Kyle Chandler still a possibility for the male lead?
Her credits were superb, right up to this.
I see you’ve never read the comic.
I’ve only seen her in the Woody Allen movie (in which she took over from Nicole Kidman) and thought she was very good. She certainly held her own against Anthony Hopkins.
Congrats to the worst part about “Dinner for Schmucks.” And that’s saying a LOT.
“Amy Squirrel”? Really?
And why does Circle of Confusion have bad Karma?
Because they lie to their clients and to everyone. Because they aren’t fit to wipe their own bottoms. Because poor creators that work with them never get the treatment they deserve.
The Karmic Debt coming their way is huge.
You’re a bitter one, troll. How about providing examples?
katee sackhoff should’ve played this role ,,, it was obvious the role was written for her,,,donno about this chick
Katee Sackhoff looka lika man. Her best scene ever is when she got shot down cold by Jack Bauer on 24. Enough with the hype on her already.
That’s an odd choice somehow.
I would have much preferred Brea Grant, who was in the run as well.
I hope she cuts her hair. But considering who they cast as the other lead, who knows?
She is one funny girl. I saw “It’s not you, it’s me” a short she did a while back where she’s engaged and turns out she’s banged every guy in her small town and has to tell them all it’s over. Better seen than pitched by me. But truly funny.
She’s got great timing and she’s pretty. So few pretty girls are funny on film, they’re too busy making sure their expressions are always elegant and photogenic. She’s not afraid to look goofy.
That’s awesome she can be goofy. But the role is supposed to be a tough, sarcastic Tomboy (who is also funny but in a dark way.)
Fingers crossed…
hey are courting Jason Patric with all the guns they have. If he says yes, this could be great. However, can anyone ever get him to work?
I LOOOOOVE Jason Patric. He is without a doubt the most underrated actor in Hollywood. His work is exquisite. So detailed. I can’t imagine they could get him for this, but if they did, yet another feather in the FX hat for amazing programming and constantly surprising us.
