EXCLUSIVE: Marketing agency Momentum Worldwide, parent company of Hollywood PR agency PMK*BNC, has launched Momentum Entertainment Group, which will have offices in Hollywood, New Orleans and New York. The new group, which Momentum will fund through its Inter Public Group, will be comprised of three divisions: Momentum Entertainment, Artist & Brand and Branded Pictures. It will be headed by media executive/producer Steven Marrs (The World Music Awards), who will serve as president, reporting to Momentum Worldwide Chairman and CEO Chris Weil. “We modeled ourselves after the original premise of the United Artist Studio — bringing great creative talent from various facets of entertainment together under one roof and providing a structure and ownership model to bring great programming to life,” said Marrs. “In creating Momentum Entertainment Group, we are building an innovative way of providing the Hollywood creative community with unique financing and packaging models to connect with broadcasters and brands worldwide.” Marrs is bringing with him his production company Branded Pictures, which will now become a division of MEG providing a full range of in-house production capabilities for broadcast and digital programming. Joining Marrs at the MEG is Chuck Dalaklis (Cartoon Network’s Dude What Would Happen), who will serve as SVP Alternative Programming & Development for Momentum Entertainment, which will handle content development, packaging and distribution for reality, drama and comedy TV projects and live events.

Nellie, aren’t you supposed to be on vacation?
Chris Weil is the mack daddy….and an average golfer. Congrats man…
Doesn’t this kind of feel like a whole bunch of people who don’t really produce anything of note giving themselves fancy titles and calling themselves a studio. I mean – who are these people?
Yes it does. But it’s in print (kinda) so it means something.
They are people who are trying to make a buck by suckering advertisers into funding content having little chance to be successful.
anyone know what kind of pictures they plan on developing?
I once watched marketing consultants turn a diamond in the rough sketch comedy pilot into a completely incoherent sitcom about angels because of a cream cheese commercial. It taught me that marketing something, and making something that is marketable are two extremely different skill-sets, and that a lot of people don’t really understand the difference.
I wish them luck, they’re going to need it.
Steven is a smart producer with a great relationships, drive, and ideas. Thrilled to see he has figured out a new model. Wishing him all the best.
This is InterPublic business without a clue as to how use their advertising relationships. What is it about companies that rep advertisers and the inability to see a way forward for those entities. United Artists? What is Steven Marrs talking about? There’s nothing united nor artful about an approach that is and should be about financing and focusing ad dollars into the business of content creation. But hey, fancy offices and salaried jobs are rare these days, so right on gents.
Good idea – good team.
Don’t know Steven but I do know Chuck. If anyone can make this happen it’s him.
Momentam entertainment compny headed by Steven Marrs will must be helpfull for people to modeled theirselves after the original premise of the United Artist studio.
