Granted, there were lots of legitimate reasons for Michael Bay to fire Megan Fox off the Transformers franchise a year ago. (Refresh your memory by re-reading, MICHAEL BAY’S REVENGE! No More Megan.) But now the Transformers 3 director gives GQ this reason why he axed her: the film’s exec producer Steven Spielberg told him to because of Fox’s remark that Bay “wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for”. I say, shame on Bay for hiding behind Spielberg now. Man up, Michael:
Michael Bay: She was in a different world, on her BlackBerry. You gotta stay focused. And you know, the Hitler thing. Steven [Spielberg] said, “Fire her right now.”
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Fox’s handlers need to teach her how to behave like a professional, since she obviously doesn’t gave a clue!!
EXACTLY!
God forbid a 24 year-old young woman say things of her own volition.
If only all young women had “handlers” that could warp them into whatever it is Cathie and Steven Spielberg think they ought to be (dumb sex symbols apparently), because if there’s one thing the world needs more of, it’s robotic women!
Exactly. Does Fox really even know who Hitler was? I’m willing to bet she doesn’t and just shot off a text without realizing that maybe the word “tyrant” would have been a better choice.
Really? Really? So what if Fox compared her boss to Hitler? BFD! Are we to believe that Michael Bay is such a wimp that he had to run to Spielberg because an actress hurt his feelings?
Please! The last Transformers movie was crap. Racist crap as every one admits. Bay was the director. He read the script. He directed the movie. He helped edit the film. He knew what crap he was delivering. Bay didn’t give a rat’s butt about dropping an offensive film into theaters but he’s got the nerve to complain about being called Hitler??? His feelings were hurt and he runs to Spielberg to make it all better?
Come on! Michael Bay must be the biggest wuss in Hollywood. It’s amazing. The man can’t move on and has to take every chance to attack Fox.
Isn’t it convenient that people are forgetting Shia L.’s statement that Bay treated Fox like a piece of meat? Fox didn’t say squat. Her colleague did.
I wonder if Spielberg appreciates Michael Bay putting their private conversation out there like that..eh probably not.
Yeah! Stuff a sock in that broad!
Her two bosses did not behave like professioals either.
Michael Bay is a coward and a bully.
First, he let’s us all know that he’s p-off at MFox for her Hitler line (but not enuf to really care). Then, his “website people” (not Bay) posts that bullcrap letter from his “anonymous crew members” (not Bay) that is not only staggeringly anti-Fox but COMPLETELY pro-Bay. And then, she suddenly gets fired (by Spielberg? (not Bay!). Gimme a break! What a load of crock! What’s a matter Bay? Afraid your career will stop if you’re outted as the one who nixed Fox? Or even worse, hurt the feelings of a stars’ fans who are the very reason the T franchise is so box office in the first place? Believe me, no one’s lining up for Shia and there are NO sexy transformer pics on the net. It’s ALL Fox that’s brings in the bucks on T. Well, guess what Michael Bay…your career just might die now, because that was a pretty cowardly thing to do, Michael.
Truly a remarkably horrible human being.
Yeah, Hitler was a dick. Wait, who are you talking about?
Horrible human being? Which one, Bay or Fox? Personally I think they’re both likely candidates.
Yea, but one is still bankable… And in this town, what else matters?
I think he means Spielberg!
I love that there’s a legitimate question about which of them he means:)
Shame on Bay for throwing Spielberg under the bus. Yes, Fox said a horrible comment and she was fired for it but that doesn’t mean the entire world should know.
Granted, the only reason why he, Bay, announced this to GQ was because the film opens in a week and this is the best free publicity they can get. Everyone is talking about it.
Hasn’t Megan Fox already used up her “15 minutes of fame”?
Her ‘Daisy Dukes’ can take her only so far. I see a Megan Fox/Charlie Sheen reality show shaping up in the near future for Current TV.
Hey Is Miachel Bay going to have much of legacy either. Since the ninties all his films seemed to be about stuff blowing up and people getting shot.
The idiotic things people say about Michael Bay are just mind-boggling. He’s one of the most successful directors in the history of Hollywood. His movies have almost always been sure-fire hits and he’s made $1,492,000,000 from domestic box office alone. Factor in international, factor in the home market, factor in his producer credits, the guy’s amazing success has him in rarefied air. You can hate him all you want, you can dismiss him all you want, but to say he isn’t going to leave a legacy is complete stupidity.
He’s not going to leave a legacy. Money doesn’t make a legacy. Forgettable, racist, misogynistic films don’t make a legacy. These aren’t classics. They’re porn for kiddies. Lowest common denominator fast food movies.
Bay does nothing that leaves a legacy. Sure he employs people. So does Wal Mart.
He writes stories that demean women and trivialize their contributions to the world.
He then treats Megan Fox like crap for speaking her mind about his on and off set behavior. I don’t care if she’s difficult. He’s a monster. He and Charlie Sheen should be roommates.
The guy is just a pussy. So he gets Spielberg to back him up. Pathetic.
Megan Fox sealed her own fate when she made the Hitler comments. For all of you claiming that mr. Bay was wrong should go and tell everyone how your company boss is a “Hitler” and see how long you are employed…
While Megan Fox has the freedom of speech, she obviously lacks the common sense and wisdom needed to properly use it.
Charlie Sheen + Megan Fox = Genius TV!!!
But wait, are you sure she isn’t his daughter or something? Not that being in the same family would necessarily be an issue for the two. I just don’t know if America can handle that.
they worked well in two and a half men lol
Who care about Michal Bay films. He squandered any chance of ever being tooken seriously again. Why hasn’t there been any substance in his films since the 90′s.
Was there any substance in his films IN the ’90s?
tooken? Seriously?
Must be Canadian.
You squandered your chance of being taken seriously when you spelled it “tooken”…and aserted that Michael Bay’s films ever had any substance. entertainment value sure, but substance?
Was there ever any substance to his films?
Although I do love The Rock
Please tell which movie(s) you are refering to where I can find this “substance”.
Losers talk about “substance.” Winners go home and fuck the prom queen.
Come on, not even The Hitcher, with Sean Bean?
She seems to be doing alright, if that Apatow film she’s doing is a hit.
Sources say: don’t bet on it.
It’s amazing how many pieces on Bay can be concluded with the words “Man up, Michael!”
Whatevsky. Worthless film. Moving on.
“Throw Spielberg under the bus”? How in the world does it do that? How does this hurt Steven Spielberg or his reputation in any way?
Who gives a shit about Megan Fox or ‘her people’? Certainly not Spielberg or Bay.
Ultimately, this is a story we’re talking about because it feels good to shit on dumb hot actresses, not because there is any news about Spielberg or Bay.
He is an Asshole and that’s putting it mildly. Megan may be a ditz and an idiot but Michael Bay takes the cake with his attitude and demeanor — its like all those years of being an actor taught him absolutely nothing about humility. As for the Hitler remark a lot of people say that about their bosses…and so what if she was telling the truth.
Shame on you Michael. I hope an act of god teaches you something about humanity and being human.
GASP!! Someone said the name Hitler?
Block your ears, kids! La-la-la-laaaaa…
This DEFINITELY means they’re might be a new wave of anti-Semitism and Megan Fox is behind it.
NEVER FORGET! NEVER FORGET! NEVER FORGET!!!!
*there* might be… sheesh. (But don’t let this diminish my scathing wit, people, which you know is right on the money)

any chance you’re tracy morgan?
you’ve been “priested”
not gonna lie; i had a similar reaction.
Bay is a horrible director, and Fox is a horrible actress. And they made two horrible films together. They were really a perfect match.
Just another series of moronic Hollywood spotlights.
She didn’t voice any sort of positive notes regarding Hitler. She simply suggested that Bay runs his set like a dictator.
Of course, Hollywood loves to pretend that they’re the most forward-conscious group on earth by devoutly protecting these hot button issues in the most superficial manner possible. Pandering to the public’s need for change with vague support for positive social change at award ceremonies isn’t doing a thing to change the world. Spare us all from your hypocriticism.
You want to make the world a better place? Stop throwing away hundreds of millions of gravely needed dollars on GARBAGE like these Transformer films.
I thought he mentioned Spielberg more to show that other people had the reaction to fire her too and it wasn’t just him who felt that way unreasonably. I thought he should man up too before reading this post but after reading the quote myself, it doesn’t seem like he threw Spielberg under the bus. If he’d said something like “I really didn’t want to fire her and wanted to work with her but Steven said to fire her,” I’d agree but this doesn’t seem that bad to me. *shrugs*
Everybody in Hollywood knows about Bay’s reputation for being a raving dictator on his sets. That’s the genesis of Fox’s comment. Have any of you prissy commentators ever heard of a metaphor? Hyperbole? The underlying story of her comment – that Hollywood nabobs don’t care how a director treats his employees so long as his pictures make money – is what should be discussed.
I can’t believe this remark was the only reason she was fired — if it WAS, as much as I dislike Fox, I have to say Spielberg and Bay were way, way off base. Hitler, the name itself, has become something of an adjective to describe dictators — I think far worse has been said on movie sets over the years.
Chances are there was more to it than this…
To be honest, and it pains me to say this, I think Spielberg is the one who should have “manned up” and come out at the time saying it was his decision to fire her over the comment. Everyone still respects him and if he’d done that you wouldn’t have had all this talk of the petty Bay/Fox bullshit from the set of Transformers 2.
Who cares about Megan Fox? She is definitely the least important part of this franchise. There are plenty of really hot women that can take her place. In fact, the new girl in the trailer is way hotter than Fox who is starting to look a little used up. Good for Bay for firing her. I just wish that he would have had the balls to take full credit for her firing.
then why was she on set on the first week of filming almost two years after she made the comment?
Bravo, Nikki! Well said. Never met the man, but BS is BS.
For so many years, Spielberg was my idol. But the past three years have been strange — Indy 4 was terrible, Transformers 2 was terrible, the Tin-Tin trailer is flat and the press/PR management on his projects this summer has been the biggest clusterf**k ever. I just hope he goes back to his roots instead of branding his name out onto all kinds of junk. (And no, I haven’t seen Super 8 yet because all my extra cash is being spent on GAS…)
If Transformers 3 underperforms, misfires or even flops, we all know whose fault it’s going to be, don’t we? Megan Fox’s for forcing Bay and Spielberg to fire her! But seriously, she trash-talked the director in public and that’s a no-no. I attended a press event for the last movie. Bay and Le Beouf looked liked they’d just got off the red eye with Air North Korea, but they still stepped up to the plate and fielded questions, even pausing for autographs at the end. Megan sat their sullenly, beautifully styled, exuding petulance. She signed one, dismissed the crowd with a wave of the wrist and exited the room. Way NOT to go!
So if she said Bay was like Genghis Khan, I guess everybody would be cool with that.
If you read the GQ story he doesn’t throw Steven under the bus. He say’s that’s just Megan. He say’s he wasn’t bothered by her comments – why on earth does this story keep going on and on??
Please, this is BS. Maybe Spielberg did say that, but i don’t believe for a minute that is what prompted her firing. Bay is a controlling ass and she is a prima donna diva. neither of which has any basis to act they way they do.
fox’s handlers should teach her how to behave? The exact same can be said of Bay. He just has way more power in H’wood than does she. She was just too stupid to see that she is only a flavor of the month and should have kept her mouth shut (about waaaaaaay more than just Bay) and milked it for all it was worth.
really, should should have learned something from Pamela Anderson.
