Every time there is a regime change at NBC, a canceled reality staple is brought back for another go. After Ben Silverman took over the network, he resurrected the then-recently yanked The Apprentice. Now, under new boss Bob Greenblatt, the network is going further back in the past to bring back to life one of NBC’s first reality hits: Fear Factor. The network has ordered a new season of the series, with Endemol USA back as producer and Matt Kunitz and David Hurwitz as executive producers. It is unclear if Joe Rogan will return as host. The show will feature pairs of teammates competing in a series of stunts. News of the Fear Factor revival leaked earlier today after reality TV-centered site RealityBlurred discovered that the show’s casting page has been relaunched with the announcement of Fear Factor’s return, its top prize of $50,000 and casting information. The series, known mostly for the gross-out nature of most of its stunts, became the first reality series of the current wave to show backend potential with syndication deals.

Is this the future of NBC? Pathetic. No wonder no one is watching.
I will watch only if Joe Rogan is back for the host!
Whew…for a minute, I thought the new regime might actually do something good for the network and I might have to add NBC stuff to my Tivo. Guess I won’t. Just makes it easier when you see it’s just going to be more of the same crap. Next!
wait. is joe rogan back too?
If Joe Rogan is in then so am I.
If Joe Rogan is back, can someone please buy him some Chapstick for those dry, cracked lips?
For the first stunt, contestants should attempt to remove Bob Greenblatt’s head from his ass.
I wouldn’t watch this POS if they paid me $50,000.
Endemol USA President: “Anyone got any ideas?”
VP #1: “Let’s do whatever programme Endemol UK is doing, like Big Brother or Deal Or No Deal or 101 Ways To Leave A Game Show!”
VP #2: “Let’s ripoff Takeshi’s Castle and call it Wipeout!”
VP #3: “Let’s sell NBC Fear Factor again!”
President: “All great ideas! But at some point isn’t someone gonna notice that we don’t do anything original here?”
Pause.
Laughter.
In the meantime Law & Order:LA ratings are improving and Law & Order:SVU is falling apart. Honestly, I do not think NBC has a clue anymore.
This can only be a sign than Greenblatt has no faith in his fall schedule. Know him way too long to believe he wants this piece of shit on HIS schedule. Sad day for the new NBC but business is business and they have some big problems to solve.
I’m beginning to think that NBC stands for “NoBody Cares”
So disappointing. Greenblatt needs to get this network off with a bang: a new vision and some excitement. This is going backwards!
It’d be different if he already had a slew of successful shows on charting a new course, but this is so the wrong message.
It’s also incredibly unexciting for the viewer. They bailed on this show ages ago, and it tried every twist in the book.
no comment…
Sooo, first the networks resurrect HI-5.0 Then Charles Angles. I thought that showed a lack of creativity. But now resurrecting a reality TV show. Its just pathetic to think of all the talent in this town.. and NBC and the other networks and studios have such trouble finding it.
This is one of my favorite shows before and I still love to watch this again.
Anyone they think they brought this back in case of the NFL lockout.
keep it up NBC. nobody will be watching your channel. Voice better get better fast or you can forget that show. The duets part is so damn stupid. Matching people together with different vocal ranges and the band playing in another key ? No wonder they all sound awful now. it started with promise, now forget it
They should get Carlos Mancia to host using Joe’s material.
Boy, they’re really scraping the bottom of the trash barrel here.
Oh good…”Fear Factor” is back. We can all breathe a sigh of relief.
Asshats…
nbc.. … rocks.
I love Fear Factor!! I’m excited and will watch it as long as it is on. :O)
