Minutes after NBC canceled freshman The Event on the unlucky Friday, May 13, the show’s creator Nick Wauters and executive producer Steve Stark told fans that there was a possibility for the sci-fi drama to continue elsewhere. That possibility is now taking shape. I hear there are talks with Syfy to pick up The Event as a miniseries. Helping things is the fact that Syfy and The Event producer, Universal Media Studios, are NBCUniversal corporate siblings. But migrating a broadcast show to cable is never easy, and I hear discussions are underway to see if it would be financially feasible for The Event to continue on Syfy. If that happens and if the mini does well, it could potentially launch another season of the alien drama. Syfy has been active post-upfronts this year. The cable network also has been kicking the tires of the Fox pilot Locke & Key, but there haven’t been any substantial discussions.

OK, first, what is Channel 4? I’m presuming you’re in NY or LA which is the channel NBC is on. Let’s call it “NBC” not 4. Second, NBC (not 4) canceled it. It’s gone from NBC. If it’s on Syfy, at least you can watch it online or rent/buy it on DVD.
ABC had the show not NBC. And YES the show was very interesting not boring like of the other shows on t.v. ABC cancelled not NBC.

I liked The Event, the flashbacks at the beginning of the show made it confusing to follow. Glad they got rid of it for later episodes.
I would have loved to find out more as to why Simon reversed himself, remember his own people now would be exterminated.

Writing was decent, but had some dead parts in the show that really killed it. Also writers did not really make it clear how these two people in a car makes it from AZ to Texas so fast? And then from city to city.
AnywayI could go on and on, I personally liked it overall and the last episode really was well done! Anyone knows how to get a book on this or find out what happens in the 2nd season. You know the script writers already wrote this up. So I need to know what will happen after episode 22.

I hope it happens! I watched every episode and loved it. It’s about time one of the many shows I’ve liked that has been cancelled, has a possibility to come back. I’ll definitely watch if The Event comes back!

Really tired of shows I like getting cancelled…started way back when with Miracles, then Firefly, Jerico, V, now the Event…what ever happened to giving it a second shot…there is just so much crap out there…

Loved this show and was very disappointed to see it cancelled. I believe NBC set this show up for failure when it scheduled a hiatus, just like ABC did with V. I hope Syfy is able to pick this up and run with it.

Ok, I do love The Event, but………..SYFY WHAT ABOUT THE DOWN RIGHT AMAZING ‘STARGATE UNIVERSE!!!!!!!!!!! I think that is far more important to true ‘SciFi’ Fans (Yes, That is how it is spelt by the way SyFy!).
From what I’ve read, even though SciFi canceled SGU, it’s more of the MGM side now – not wanting to spend more money on Stargate (the studio is still cash strapped).
We need a major fan campaign to persuade MGM to at least do one final epic movie, or mini-series, just to give Stargate a respectable ending.

I was as surprised as anyone to discover how really, really good this show is. Every week I kept expecting to get bored and instead I was riveted by the 24-style pacing, great characters (love Laura Innes!) and terrific story twists. Really excellent work all around. I was bummed it never found a big audience — it deserved one. It would be great if the show can find life on Sci-Fi (which I refuse to call Syfy because that is the stupidest name ever and should be pronounced See-fee).

I endured every episode of this because it started with an amazing pilot and then disintergrated before my eyes week after week. It just keep getting more ludicrous and drawn out, going no where interesting. If it weren’t for a few of the actors, the always wonderful Laura Innes, Jason Ritter, and that terrific actor who played one of the In Cold Blood killers in a movie a few years ago (sorry, name escapes me) it just seemed to run out of ideas, steam and motivation. “Lost”, it wasn’t.
I can’t imagine how SyFy could even afford to pay even half the cast of a miniseries of this magnitude. Though I wouldn’t mind them finishing it off (this should have ALWAYS been a miniseries) and reining in the story threads but the cancellation of the show seemed the just thing to do after about episode five.
