Sorry for the delay, Nielsen had processing issues this morning. ABC probably didn’t mind as it delayed the bad news about the premiere performance of the network’s summer Tuesday lineup. At 8 PM, Wipeout (1.7/6) was down a whopping 45% from last summer’s opener to post the reality series’ lowest-rated summer telecast ever. The episode was dubbed “special preview”, with Wipeout‘s official season premiere slated for tonight. At 9 PM, new game show 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show (1.9/5) did a little better, even with last year’s premiere of Downfall. And at 10 PM, the Canadian/U.K.-produced medical drama Combat Hospital managed a 1.2/3. That was down 37% from last summer’s debut on ABC of another Canadian drama series, Rookie Blue.
All other originals were down last night. NBC’s The Voice (4.3/12) was down 7% (4% vs. its fast national rating as the singing competition tends to go up a tenth in the finals). America’s Got Talent (3.2/11) was down 9% for a season low. NBC still dominated the night with a 3.9/12 in adults 18-49 and 11.9 million viewers. Fox’s MasterChef (1.8/6) was down a tenth, edging the premiere of Wipeout for second place in the 8 PM hour among adults 18-49. The network aired Raising Hope repeats from 9-10 PM, while CBS stuck to its regular Tuesday lineup in reruns.

I watched 101 but honestly, I didn’t care for it. The drop from the moving truck … ohhh scary. Natch every is strapped in – (which is good). Same with the 7 story drop into water. I’ll try again, but I pefer Wipeout then USA’s White Collar and Covert Affairs.
Maybe nobody watched them because they are terrible shows. ABC is just going to have Hospital Shows and game shows they rip off from Japan.
Or, true to form for stupid TV networks, ABC has worn everyone out with year-long season version of Wipeout, till the fun summertime specialness of it is destroyed.
Combat was D.O.A. Sad, even badly written, poorly acted shows take lot of work. Not sure who should take the bullet for this one at ABC, those who developed and committed to shoot the pilot, or those that put it on the air. Just another reason br
I thought about watching Combat Hospital but I really like The Good Wife….so I chose to see a rerun and because of the great acting and excellent charater development, didn’t even think of switching over to see a bit of the new show.
And the rest of the evening’s offerings? No thanks.
Being a fan of Michelle Borth, I gave Combat Hospital a try…
3 minutes in I wondered if a retarded monkey wearing a Cooper helmet had written it & switched to The Good Wife.
LOVED “101 Ways”, I don’t get why people are hating on it.
1) Interesting trivia questions
2) SUSPENSE is great before the reveals
…but the host is blehhhh.
Anyone who knows ABC’s track record is going to stay away from Combat Hospital; it is definitely going to get the axe by September. CH is the same thing as Off the Map (which was Grey’s Anatomy meets Lost), but set in a military base rather than the wild South American jungle. The only show I will be watching on broadcast TV this summer is Rookie Blue, because it had such strong ratings last year. But I am worried because not one advertisement has shown up for it. Maybe the 20-second promos on ABC (I wouldn’t know for sure though), but no other channel and definitely zero ads online or in magazines/newspapers.
Cable is the best place to spend the summer, when it comes to TV viewing. They make it so much easier for the viewer to watch their shows, unlike broadcast TV.
More reality garbage from ABC, who would be better off just airing reruns than this drivel they have on now.
