EXCLUSIVE: The story of Drew Peterson, charged with the death of his third wife after the mysterious disappearance of his fourth wife, is coming to television, with Rob Lowe playing the charismatic, womanizing Chicago-area police officer. Also cast in the project is The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco as Peterson’s fourth wife,
23-year-old Stacy, who was 30 years his junior. In May 2010, after Stacy’s mysterious disappearance, Peterson seemingly basked in the attention from the national media while denying any connection to Stacy’s disappearance. But after following up on tips from a neighbor, authorities arrested Peterson and indicted him for the murder of his previous wife, Kathleen. Her 2004 death — Kathleen was found drowned in an empty bathtub — had been initially ruled an accident, but upon exhumation and second forensic examination, that was changed to homicide. Peterson is currently in prison awaiting trial. The movie, tentative titled The Drew Peterson Story aka Ladykiller, will explore the two cases and any possible
connections between them. It was written by Teena Booth, who also penned Lifetime’s movies about the unsolved disappearance of another young girl, Natalee Holloway. It was based on the nonfiction book Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Drew Peterson by Joseph Hosey, a reporter with the Chicago area’s Herald News who has followed closely the Drew Peterson case. Judith Verno (The Craigslist Killer, Natalee Holloway) will executive produce the film, produced by Peace Out Prods. Lowe, repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment, and Cuoco, repped by SDB Partners and Brillstein, will shoot the movie while on hiatus from their comedy series, NBC’s Parks and Recreation and CBS’ The Big Bang Theory, respectively.

wooo! I LOVE KALEY CUOCO!!
)
awesome choices in casting this tv movie, cant wait to see it..gives lowe a chance for to show his stuff, cuoco is coming into her own, love her.. as long as the script is up to par…
Yeah…good casting, Lifetime ! Lowe looks a lot like the guy…(insert sarcasm here)…but will he wear the fake mustache ?
At least when Dean Cain played Scott Peterson (another killer husband in a TV movie) he looked like the guy. Rob Lowe looks NOTHING like this guy. Can’t imagine Rob will gain weight for this. Too big of an ego for that.
Meanwhile, Lowe’s chin is getting bigger by the year. Christ!
Just watched the movie and Lowe did’nt gain weight, and his chin was not like what you said it was.
Lowe nailed the role perfectly, maybe too perfectly.
I won’t watch this. I’ll wait for the trial on CNN.
Drew Peterson WISHES he looked like Rob Lowe. I just hope this doesn’t affect his career like Dean Cain’s was when he played Scott Peterson. What’s Dean Cain up to nowadays anyways?
The surname and the rhyming of the women’s names (Stacey — Lacey)surely aren’t the only similarities in the cases…
where’s Randy Quaid when you need him? he’s perfect for this role.
“Drew Peterson WISHES he looked like Rob Lowe”…not if he ends up in prison, honey!
If Randy Quaid got the Drew Peterson role, of course Evi would want to play one of the wives and insist on a producer credit.
…or Ray Liotta would have been great. Was a good movie. One of the best ones I have seen on Lifetime.
Well, whenever the trial is over, don’t forget to look up this movie. Yea, I think it’s smart of you to hold out if you don’t want to pre-judge Drew P. I just watched this movie and Timothy Hutton really played the role of a jealous, accusative, woman beating, manipulative, egotistical jerk. He played this role so good that I hate him more than ever, and hope he rots in prison.
Was a really good 2 hour movie and I was glued to the tv b/c Timothy Hutton convinced me that he knows how to act like a jerk very well. Wow
Lowe is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too good looking to play Petersen. maybe the *other* wife killing Peterson – that is more believable. Jim Belushi should be playing this guy.
Gotta say- I love Rob Lowe (though I don’t watch him on “Parks and Recreation” because it was dreadfully unfunny when I tried it last year,) but this is NOT good casting. He looks nothing like Peterson- much to Lowe’s credit! Drew is an unattractive old guy, and Rob is beautiful. I just don’t get this decision at all.
I’ll have to get the book – looks like a good mystery
We live in the area – not looking forward to this movie – I would prefer to have the court case started already. to this day – we still have to see Peterson in the paper or on the news and watch him play with the media.
How does this disincentivize me from killing my wives? Being portrayed by Rob Lowe would LITerally be the best thing ever.
Whoowee more work for Rob Lowe. I guess none of the other million actors in SAG or AFTRA were considered. Maybe some unknown would have made this a really good movie. Like a John Hamm or James Gandolfini –who nobody knew but got their chance on talent and not garbage stardom casting. Look where that went. And surprise — I am NOT an actor. Just a person who likes to watch a movie with real actors that are right for the part. Idiotic casting is ruining these shows.
I was on the crew of the movie about Hank Willams, The Last Ride, Kaley is fantastic!
Lowe could pull this off with his slippery charm and enigmatic grin.
Wilford Brimley unless he’s dead and then use him anyway. Peterson has no soul.
Rob Lowe as that guy?
Mr. Herman…Paging Mr. Herman…
Kaley is great, had a chance to see her in the Hank Williams pic, The Last Ride at Houseon film festival and she was terrific!
Donald Sutherland would have been a ringer. Even Kiefer could have been made to look like Peterson better than Lowe. This will ruin what admiration I have left for Lowe.
I saw the previews for this movie this weekend and actually the make-up artists did a phenomenal job. Rob Lowe really does look like him in this movie. More like Drew and less like himself. It’s quite impressive.
Looking forward to seeing movie.I enjoy seeing Kelly in big bang theory she will be an asset .Seen Lowe many times before but this is her chance …good luck kelly…fan
