Several highlights from the Sunday cable ratings: Lifetime’s Army Wives finished its fifth season with 3.6 million viewers, on par with the previous week’s audience of 3.5 million and down from the season premiere (4.2 million) and series high (4.8 million) posted earlier this season. The veteran drama has already been renewed for a sixth season. Also not getting a bump was the bombshell Sunday episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones (2.664 million), which was actually down a fraction from the previous week (2.715 million) as the network opted for the big surprise instead of promoting (Spoiler Alert) the death of the show’s lead character. Even fewer watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians as the season premiere of E!’s reality series drew 2.5 million viewers, down sharply from the 4.7 million who tuned in for last season’s opener. And then there was the premiere of The Glee Project on Oxygen, which bombed with 455,000 viewers.

Perhaps people are finally getting tired of keeping up with those endlessly fascinating Kardashians.
Oxygen cant buy a hit and gee I wonder why.
Looks like people are tiring of the Kardassians as well. E! is going to Defcon 4 as we speak
Ah ha… Glee’s latest endeavor was a big flop. Maybe because every second we’re being bombarded with GLEE! Give it a rest guys.
The Tony Awards were on! Best show around.
if there is a god the kardashian show(s) will die a fast death instead of flopping around for two more years. I hope the next time we see them is on Dancing With the Holographic Stars in 25 years when they’ll all be forced to lose 95 pounds through the magic of dance.
Also, Lifetime’s new show “The Protector” flopped with 1,9 million viewers and 0.4 A 18-19.
Even with this decline in viewership, there are still 2.5 million brain numb fellow citizens walking among us.
Kardashians is still one of the highest rated E! series. It won’t be going anywhere for some time…
It was pretty stupid to air The Glee Project against The Tony Awards. Let’s see how it fares next week because those rating were pretty bad. Oxygen can’t seem to catch a break.
Indeed. Something tells me if FOX/NewsCorp had corporate synergy going with this show (no way this would look right on FX either) it would have not premiered Tony night. Sundays at 9 are also pretty suspect times for a cable reality show in general.
The show is re-airing on a loop daily. I caught it and actually love it but am apprehensive on who is chosen (like how will the person will fit and how will Ryan Murphy ruin it all in the end). The cast is pretty talented, it is well-established that the regular cast is on a constant, rigorous schedule so don’t expect a picnic, and there were some adorable moments that reminded me of the shows earlier roots. And believe me, just seeing the elimination a sucky performer on Glee has been something of a dream (looking at you, Corey Monteith).
THIS ACTUALLY IS GREAT NEWS
People are tiring of the overexposed, un-talented, and ‘faked’ reality of the Kardashians. America might be saved yet! I stopped watching that show years ago, and they diluted the series with all their spinoffs; when are kendall and kylies s how premiering mr seacrest? The show is so fake and ‘scripted’ – and they do everything for the benefit of tv cameras from staged fights to what i read was a taped proposal…really?
as for glee project; I read it got great reviews and I would watch it but oxygen is not on my basic tier and im not gonna pay extra. Many glee fans dont get oxygen; i still might check it out on the web but it probably wouldve done better on fox for the summer so gleeks could continue following their favshow
Glee Project premiering at the same time as The Tony Awards was a really weird programming move. That being said, I believe that Glee is on a downward spiral, but that seems to be a pattern with Ryan Murphy.
Oxygen should go after a “Funny. Women.” character filter and pick up Parks & Rec, The Middle, Gilmore Girls (when the rights expire from ABC Family), and Veronica Mars in syndication. They already have Glee in the future. Then, make quality comedies.
Are these the Neilsen family ratings? When have they ever been accurate. There are way too many choices nowadays and since the general audience skews older -I am not surprised that any show like The Glee Project doesn’t do well. The show skews very young -it is on cable not on a major broadcast network so it isn’t going to do well. If you pay attention to ratings people would give up television altogether. The question should be, did the Glee Project do better than a typical Oxygen show? You just can’t compare these ratings to other networks which normally have higher audience figures.
NBA final game was on…
BASKETBALL people!………
let’s see what next week does. Most of these ratings are GOOD considering the basketball final—except the Glee show (what’s Oxygen thinking, their big show is Bad Girls Club—so NOT the Glee audience!
Please… Oxygen is desperate for a hit to overshadow Bad Girls! It’s a hold-over from the Laybourne years they can’t get rid of! This current bunch has yet to create a hit with 2MM viewers…
There playing basketball
We love that Basketball
They’re playing Basketball
We love that Basketball
Listen folks. The Tony Awards has nothing to do Glee’s failure. I mean, c’mon, how pathetic is this? The Tony Awards get horrible ratings every year and is total charity of CBS to put on. A bunch of old gay men and intellectual liberal elites aren’t going to make a different for Glee project. They need 18-34′s on Oxygen, and they ain’t watching the Tony’s.
Let’s face it…. NO ONE CARES ABOUT ANOTHER DUMB MUSIC COMPETITION SHOW – and especially Glee viewers!
Dumb move doing this show. Why jeopardize a hit franchise for some lame-assed show on Oxygen? Yeah, money… but watch out producers, there is such a thing as over-exposure and you’re coming off a pretty lame second season (as versus the brilliant first season).
I thought the Glee Project was really fun, and I think they casted a great crop of kids that are really fun to watch!
I personally think The Glee Project is more fun to watch than some of the most recent episodes of Glee on Fox!
Give the show a shot..or at least a DVR! The musical theater Gleek in me can’t get enough…
I would probably make more of an effort to watch ARMY WIVES if Catherine Bell would stop wearing a bra.
Please don’t make excuses for the Kardashians. People are tiring of them ! FINALLY !
