EXCLUSIVE: NBC’s weight-loss reality series The Biggest Loser will be going into its upcoming 12th season without co-producing company 3 Ball Prods., which has been suspended from the show. J.D. Roth and Todd Nelson’s 3 Ball was brought in by Reveille and 25/7 at the very beginning to run physical production on the series created by Reveille’s Ben Silverman and Mark Koops and 25/7′s Dave Broome.
“We can confirm that 3 Ball Prods. are not serving as active producers on The Biggest Loser for the time being,” Reveille said in a statement to Deadline. “Reveille will be assuming all production responsibilities for the long running franchise, with 25/7 Productions also continuing to serve as executive producers.“ (Since they first partnered on Loser, both Reveille and 3 Ball have been acquired, by Shine Group and Eyeworks, respectively.) Neither Reveille or 3 Ball would comment on the reasons for the split, which, at least for now, is temporary. There are 2 theories floated by sources. One is tied to a recent audit of the backend participation on The Biggest Loser, which Roth and Nelson allegedly raised questions about. The other is connected to Reveille’s recent shift in strategy to bulk up its executive ranks with creative and production executives. The company’s new president, Eden Gaha, is a veteran reality series showrunner. Reveille also tapped Linda Giambron as SVP and head of production, the first time the company has had a formal head of production, as it is gearing up to take on more production responsibilities on its series. Additionally, the timing of the suspension coincides with the solid premiere of 3 Ball’s own weight-loss reality series, which is in the vein of Biggest Loser, ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition. Production on Season 12 of The Biggest Loser started today.

This just proves JD should never have given up his Fun House gig.
yeah, because he has not been successful at all since then! you idiot!
When company A goes on and produces and similar series company B is bound to get upset. The last sentence of the article tells it all
Maybe they found out that JD is REALLY 12 years old and doesn’t just look like it.
JD & Todd have been the heart & soul of BL since season 1. Everyone who’s ever worked on the show knows that they were the driving creative force. No more Jillian. New director. Vastly new crew. No Todd & JD. Good luck with that.
Those guys at Reveille are bone heads. They let 3 Ball sell two weight loss shows to ABC when Biggest Loser is a Reveille format. So they took Biggest Loser away from 3 Ball….big deal.
That’s bad. But the show must go on whatever happens. I enjoy watching the show though. Contestant’s stories are so inspiring.
Yea, and Shine also fired most of the key production crew in retaliation for the show going union. Go Shine!
Now if only they would get an engaging host for the show. Alison Sweeney is blander than a wet piece of cardboard.
Alison Sweeney is perfect for that job! She is straight forward when she has to be, she is very pretty and everyone loves her! Can’t go wrong with that! If she was not cutting it she would never have lasted this long!
Everyone knows 3 balls is one too many!
Please . . . 3 Ball got what they deserved. They have been fired more times in the last couple of years then they have had sales. They were never the driving force behind the show – that was Broome and Reveille. As for all the staff changes – the show is now unionized and after working on a show for so many cycles sometimes people leave. If I were Revielle I would have gotten rid of them along time ago – too many cooks in the kitchens collecting checks for a somewhat simple format.
Wow….you are really informed. Those guys did everything. I’ve never even seen Reveille or Broome on set. “If I were Reveille”…you probably are. Which makes you an idiot.
So will the casting directors change?
How does 3Ball have a good reputation? All of their shows are not good. What gives?
Have they ever created a successful show or format?
I honestly hope and pray 3Ball goes out of business. Please God. Evil evil company
