EXCLUSIVE: Stephen Susco, who scripted the horror hit The Grudge and its sequel, has been signed by Verve. Susco most recently co-wrote and produced with Sam Raimi an untitled Ole Bornedal-directed horror film. Susco, who’d been repped by CAA, is currently developing The Brink with Gore Verbinski and Starz. Susco continues to be managed by Prolific.

These guys are actually giving a good name to agenting. They hustle, they close, and they create opportunities in an otherwise dreary market. I’m guessing their secret is that they actually read.

Uh Benioff would be a huge get? Because he has a track record on successes like “Kite Runner” and “Stay?” Nah, he would be a “get” because the Hollywood hype machine says he would be a get, not because of his track record or his work.
Honestly Benioff and Marc Forster have a whole little cottage industry thing going, getting “hotter” and more highly-compensated with each poorly-received and underperforming movie they have a hand in. But you know, they’re tall and good-looking and sit at the cool kid’s table in the high school cafeteria world that is Hollywood.

CAA is a great place to be if you’re an actor or a director but for a writer, not so much. Verve is tiny but at least they’re good at what they do.
