EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions are negotiating with Tom Cruise to star this fall in One Shot, a thriller based on the Lee Child book series about former military policeman-turned-drifter Jack Reacher. Christopher McQuarrie will direct his script. The talks going on right now is for Cruise to make the movie before he stars in the Joseph Kosinski-directed Oblivion at Universal, which starts in January.
Making a Cruise deal is always tricky, and if the One Shot deal takes awhile to come together, it would happen after Oblivion shoots next year. Paramount will co-finance the film with Skydance Productions, whose principal David Ellison also co-financed Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol.
Fans of the Reacher book will have to absorb this development, because Cruise is very different physically from the bruising tough guy who has created mayhem over 15 bestselling novels that have sold 40 million copies. In the books, Reacher is 6’5,” about 250 pounds, and when you are on the business end of his clenched fists, you are most likely going to be spitting out teeth and getting fitted for a cast or two. Cruise has always been interested in the Reacher series. In fact, when he and Paula Wagner were partners at C/W, they optioned the book five years ago. Paramount has been developing ever since, but this is the closest that the Reacher franchise has to becoming a reality after years in development. So what if he’s not as tall and beefy as Reacher? I’m told that the author himself is excited about Cruise playing the role, that Cruise personifies the qualities Reacher displays in the books. As for Reacher’s hulking physical size, Child wasn’t locked into an oversized actor (one reason the film took so long to get off the ground), and it was more about establishing an intimidating presence.
“Reacher’s size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way,” Child said when he threw his support behind the move.
Child’s prose is very spare and blunt and Reacher is a no-frills guy. He drifts around the country, carrying nothing more than a toothbrush, the clothes on his back, his passport and access to his military pension. He finds his way into all kinds of misadventures but usually winds up using his brawn and his brains from years of military experience to solve conspiracies for underdogs. In One Shot, Reacher investigates a case in which a lone sniper murders five victims before being captured. Reacher discovers it’s more than a simple open-and-shut case. Cruise and McQuarrie are regular collaborators. They did Valkyrie, and McQuarrie did some script work on Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, and he also did early script work on The Tourist when Cruise was going to be the film’s star.
The novel is set in the Midwest, but the film will shoot in Pittsburgh, I’m told.
Don Granger and Cruise will produce through Mutual Film Company and C/W Productions. Skydance’s Ellison and Dana Goldberg are producing as is Gary Levinsohn and Wagner. Josh Olson wrote an earlier draft before McQuarrie came aboard. McQuarrie’s manager, Ken Kamins of Key Creatives, is exec producer. Cruise is repped by CAA and so is McQuarrie, whose lawyer is David Fox.

Wow, this is some great news!
I’m a longtime fan of Way of The Gun, the McQuarrie-directed crime thriller starring Benicio Del Toro and Ryan Philippe. It’s one of my favorite flicks and I’ve been anxiously awaiting to hear what McQuarrie would direct next. I was hoping for The Wolverine (which he scripted), but this is even better.
And Cruise has the support of Child? SOLD.
When Cruise wanted so badly to play the lead for the film IN THE LINE OF FIRE, the writer held out even though he was starving and faced moving back in with his mother….THANK GOD he did not accept Cruise’s offer and Clint Eastwood got ahold of it and made it an excellent movie….
I think the same goes here as an avid reader of these books….I know this is different with the author saying okay to Cruise, but the character’s size and toughness is what makes it rock….I could never buy Cruise in this role.
No. No. No Tom Cruise as Reacher. Was Lee Child drunk when he commented that Cruise ‘portrays unstoppable force in his own way’ huh? Maybe unstoppable force to a hobbit, they will have to borrow some of those actors to ‘fit’ with Cruise in this role. Also, every book makes numerous references to Reachers physical size, strength and fighting skills, for Child to turn around and say the size is not relevant – WTF. It’s the underlying factor in all his books, a lot of the situations he would not have survived if it were not for his size. Please stop this travesty, maybe Dominic Purcell (Prison Break)
Agreed! Child is so desperate to get a Reacher movie made that he is letting down his fans that helped make him a success. We want a movie, but we want it done right. Of course everyone who has read the books is going to have a different image of what Reacher looks like. However… I’m pretty sure not many, if any, pictured Tom Cruise. All respect due to Tom for playing a number of roles that were excelllent… this just doesn’t fit. Purcell was a great suggestion. A good actor and still not widely known. James Caviezel is much more well known, but can definitely pull off the quiet, mysterious loner type that makes Reacher so enigmatic. Please don’t put “Screech” in the Superman suit! To those who say too old, please remember that Reacher was no spring chicken.
Gawd – anyone BUT Cruise…. as one of the many who has read and loved ever Reacher novel – Lee Child is crazy to endorse Cruise.
UGH!
There are plenty of wonderful actors who can help make Reacher real on the big screen. Cruise is not one of them in this fan’s mind!
Hell no, Cruise doesn’t come up to Reacher’s belly button. The Reacher character must look like a young Dolph Lundgren. Keep Looking!
Right! Dolph Lundgren’s Missionary Man was perhaps a spiritual brother to Jack Reacher: both are wanderers who’re not looking for trouble, but wouldn’t wanna back down either. Trouble is, a 50-something Dolph can’t really play a pushing 40 Reacher… but that’s still a better idea than Tom Cruise.
OMG I have been waiting for a movie to be made, but not Tom! I have read every one of the Reacher books and from day one, you picture the protagonist as a huge man, not necessarily great looking, but strong, silent and deadly. Tom is such a little man, I would never get that picture out of my mind. Why on earth with all the great actors out there, would Child pick him? Just because he wants the part, don’t sell your soul, Lee. I am disappointed. Cruise has done so many action movies, it would be just another one. Do someone different, someone undiscovered, or someone not so pretty! PLEASE don’t ruin my image of Jack Reacher.
Can’t not believe that T.Cruise cast in the Jack Reacher roll.
Please search for some young undiscovered guy,Not a pretty boy but a rugged looking type that can make this character come alive on screen and be young enough to do more that one movie.
There are l00 guys out there waiting for a break this could be it.
Please reconsider
In Minority Report, Cruise has a face to face scene at the end of the film with Max Von Sydow. The appear on film face to face, despite Sydow being 6’4! I remember laughing that this was the best special effect in an effects laden film.
Definitely not who I would picture in the part, but Cruise as a general rule makes some pretty good and/or entertaining films.
Agreed. The problem is that Reacher’s size is made such a big deal of in every single novel. Every novel has scenes where Reacher dismantles people his size or larger and his size is intrinsic to his success in these frays. Most of the novels feature scenes where he does something physical (like rolling a car over or breaking a welded cage off of a floor) that could not be done by someone, regardless of strength, of lesser reach or mass. Can you imaging, should the franchise continue, Tom Cruise convincingly playing a person who, with badly injured upper limbs, can put down one young linebacker after another? I can’t, you can’t – evidently Lee Child is on fairy dust or he just doesn’t care that much about his creation.
Agreed!! Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher is not even believable. I’ve been waiting for this series to expand into movies for a long time. I am a huge Lee Child fan. Selling out in Hollywood is nothing new, this is a very bad decision……Tom Cruise will ruin this for us fans. His brand is over…..he can produce and make his money, but not act in it….please no!!!!!!
I agree, not Tom Cruise. I’m a big fan of Lee Childs Reacher Series and could see Daniel Craig as Reacher but never Cruise.
how about Liam Neeson
“Wow this is great news!” screams the studio flak. Barf. Clearly no one in LA has read a single Reacher novel. This piece of crappy casting is burning up the net with sheer loathing and disgust. Way to piss off the fans. Why not Karl Urban, Damien Lewis, Sam Worthington or Brad Pitt? Tall actors who are young enough to play the part?
Reacher isn’t supposed to be young. he’s a retired (prematurely) veteran. So, I don’t know about the new guys like Worthington and Tatum
But I do agree that Tom Cruise as Reacher would be bloody blasphemous.
Absolutely. I’ve seen a lot of posts on this and similar threads saying that a great actor can inhabit any role. Well, let’s see Danny De Vito play Reacher then. I mean, seriously, WTF?
Reacher is six foot five, 235 pounds, and built like a ‘condom stuffed with walnuts’ to quote the author. Cruise is like five foot eight, 150 pounds, and the best that can be said about his physique is something along the lines of ‘och, he’s wiry’.
It wouldn’t be a big deal if Reacher’s dimensions weren’t made so much of in the novels and that his sheer height and mass are intrinsic to his dealing with many of the plot elements in the novels – but they are and they are – and Cruise, whatever his qualities as an actor, is a horrible fit for this role.
Wow! Even better news: They’re recalling the entire lot of surviving Munchkins from The Wizard of Oz for the other roles so Cruise will appear to be over 6′ tall!
never before have i posted to a site like this but Cruise playing reacher is like having a pencil without a lead “pointless”. Crusie is the wring size, personality, everything. he is just wrong wrong wrong. We were thinking the other day who could play Reacher and the only names we can up with were Liam Neeson (too old) and Josh Holloway (Sawyer from Lost)
Just think how many people will be put off the Reacher Novels once they see the film!
Are you nuts? I do like Tom Cruise but for this part – NO! No! No!
Have you read Lee Child’s books? I am in a Mystery Book Club & this was mention in our meeting on Monday, June 27th. Out of 12 people at least 8 of us were so disappointed. Lee Child’s emphasizes Jack Reacher as tall, tall, tall about 6’5″. Not only is Tom Cruise, short his physique is not anywhere near the character. I could see a younger Clint Eastwood. How about somebody like Hugh Jackman. He is more believable!
tom cruise would not make a pimple on Jack Reacher’s ass.
Awesome! Love the Reacher character and this will turn into a terrific franchise. Granger’s an old hand at developing these action platforms going back to his Jack Ryan days and Chris will do a good job w/this one. Cruise is back!
You people who are on board with this clearly have never read the books and haven’t the least idea of the Reacher character. This casting is all wrong and Lee Child disrespects both the character he created and the legion of fans of Jack Reacher.
Child has sold 40+ million books. How much $$$ does any one person need? Disgusting.
well said mate couldn’t have put it better myself, its disgusting that their turning an absolutely fantastic Reacher novel into a some crappy piece of film with the main character being a 5″ something short ass, their only in it for the money they don’t care what the fans think, or even how relevant the film is to the actual brilliant novel. Quite frankly i will lose some serious respect for Child if he lets this go through
What a miscast. Not only is Tom Cruise physically wrong for the role he does not have Reacher’s enigmatic loner tough guy personality. They should have gone with an unknown actor. Tom Cruise is too well known and closely linked to the roles he has played. He does not have the mystery aura that a role like Reacher demands.
Good points. Aside from the size issues, time and again, Reacher is described as not particularly pretty (attractive but not handsome – Craig not Moore for people who crave exemplars) in the novels. Pretty is about 85% of what Tom Cruise has going for him … which makes this an even suckier piece of casting.
Hell, you might as well rewrite it for Angelina Jolie to play Jack Reacher.
WTF are these people thinking? Did anyone doing the film actually read the books…what a terrible idea…let’s build a possible franchise with an actor the wrong age and the wrong build and, generally, the wrong type.
Love the Reacher book…think Cruise is a much better actor than most people give him credit…but, this just sucks if it happens.
Absolutely agree — I’ve read all the Reacher novels and Cruise couldn’t be more wrong for the part. Reacher is not handsome, only becomes memorable after taking all the bad guys out, and is physically very imposing. Unless they are putting Tom in high lift work boots and shooting him exclusively from the ground up, it’s a farce. I would never see it. Would make the series of novels lose all credibility.
People complain that Tom Cruise does not have to be 6’5″ just because the book’s character is.
Then why base a movie on the book? Jack Reacher’s physical presence is a MAJOR part of the novels.
PLEASE PLEASE call this movie something else or change the character’s name !!!
Exactly! Why wasn’t Cruise cast as Thor or Conan? Because he’s too old and too short. Reacher is a 21st century Thor; casting Cruise is an insult to the fans.
I agree. NO to Tom Cruise.
I’m sad that Lee Child has given his blessing.
If they do the Movie, give the Reacher character a different name, or call it something else. You’re just going to ruin the Jack Reacher books that i have not read yet.
I also believe that the character should be played by someone ‘fresh’.
Tom Cruise has too much baggage. Whenever I see Tom Cruise i remember the previous roles he’s had (the best boxer, best lawyer, best fighter pilot, best secret agent, best bartender, best pool hustler, best racecar driver, etc.)
Reacher is in his 30′s when the books start; Cruise is pushing 50. How old will Cruise be for the sequels, 60? He’ll be a short, old Reacher? Hate to be ageist and shortist but damn, there are actors actually tall enough and young enough to play this part.
Actually, in the novel “One Shot”, which came out in 2005, Reacher was 45 years old. He was born in 1960. I don’t agree with the choice of Cruise at all, but age-wise they are pretty close. Reacher was 37 in the first book, and “One Shot” is the 8th book in the series.
Sorry, I meant 9th book in the series.
Agreed. They got the wrong Tom. Tom Hardy or Tom Welling would be a MUCH better choice.
If they go with Cruise, why bother to keep the character’s name? No fans of the books will recognize the character if they go see the movie, so what is the point?
Totally agree. Read all the Reacher novels and the character of Jack Reacher should not be played by someone of Cruise’s stature or age…
I could see Cruise pulling it off. And I love that someone is making this type of movie instead of another comic book thing. And I love Chris McQuarrie — sure he nailed the script.
Are you kidding? Havse you read the series? No WAY does Cruise fit the part!
Damn. I was hoping for Liev Schreiber.
Far better choice than Frodo, I mean, Tom Cruise.
I just spit up my iced coffee!
That is funnier in more ways than you know!!! (Or maybe you do??)
I see Liev as the best choice too, Tom Cruise is the antithesis of Reacher – well won’t be watching that movie, too bad…
I also agree that Leiv would be awesome as Reacher.
I’ve read almost half of the Reacher series, but after Cruise in the movie, I would never want to read the rest of the books. Cruise as Reacher would just totally turn me off the rest of the book series. I love the Reacher series, but this is not even funny.
This is a cruel joke.
Another good casting suggestion! I love Liev, although maybe a bit too good looking?
Worst casting since Interview with a Vampire.
“Worst casting since Interview with a Vampire.”
Your comment doesn’t help…he was really good in that. I have to agree that although I love the Reacher novels and I have nothing against Cruise it’s like casting Peter Dinklage to play “The Refrigerator” Perry in a bio pic.
Yes, but (sarcasm alert) a true actor like Dinklage can inhabit any character so that would be alright with me (and all my artsy fartsy film friends who’ve never seen The Refrigerator in action). Could the mofo who played Hagrid play Frodo? Could Danny De Vito play Thor? Good acting can make up for a lot, but by the blessed belly of Buddha, dear studio executives, show some freaking common sense.
Cruise as Reacher – what a pile of shite!
@ Marissa: Cruise wsa woefully miscast as Lestat in “Vampire”. Compared to the books, he was not a rock star kind of guy.
They might have just as well cast Andy Dick as Lestat or Reacher.
No, no, and again no. Nobody who has ever read those books could see Cruise in that role. Jesus.
Who are all these people suddenly posting how fantastic it is – Friends of Cruise? Really.
No.
I never, ever, put my opinion on any page that I read but, having been a fan of the Jack Reacher novels, I have to say WTF!!! Cruise may be phisically half the man that Reacher is in the books. He doesn’t have the menace or presence to play him. I think that Clive Owen would be a better actor or Liev Schireiber as Drew posted. The fact that Lee Child gave his approval doesn’t matter since he is just looking to make money on movie rights… Wow! THIS SUCKS!!!
I have read all the Reacher stories . Please don’t cast Tom Cruise so so WRONG.he is a midget.I will never read a lee Child again if this inferior actor is cast he is much too lightweight, in all manner of ways. Please don’ let this awful casting happen. He will never be Reacher.I thought he was a has been I never go to his movies he is an irritant. Reacher is a Big man, and he is in shape. Tom cruse will not cut the Mustard! Please action hero, gallant and enigmatic. NOT tom Cruise.
While I respect Cruise as an actor, he’s usually better in roles that allow him to use his fast talking, smiling charm. That’s not Reacher. Reacher is mysterious and tight lipped, plus when Reacher comes into town, he stands out because of his look.
I’ve also always thought “One Shot” was a very poor choice to make out of all the Reacher books because the plot is kind of like Mark Walhberg’s “Shooter,” plus Reacher is working with law enforcement. The books are always better when they’re one man against a huge group…
I agree completely. I’d never go to see this. I’d close my eyes when the trailer came in the theatre. I like tom cruise as an actor but this is really just wrong on every level. Paramount didn’t even want him to be ethan hunt anymore. Now this? But most importantly, I agree that one shot is the absolute wrong choice of books to make. I once sent a list of reacher novels to a heavy-weight producer and listed about five that were favorites but ended the email by saying basically ‘they’re all great. just don’t read one shot or bad, luck, and trouble first. You’ll miss the whole essence of the franchise.”
Have these people not read the books??? Reacher is supposed to be 6’5″ and burly…menacing….that’s a huge part of his character….there aren’t enough midgets in the world to cast around Cruise to make him seem that large!
Not to mention….I’m so pissed about this idea!….Cruise is great when he’s charming his way out of situations…not using brute force
this is so wrong I can’t even breathe….
oh course Child is supportive…he’s finally getting one of his books made into a film and there’s a huge star interested…but he needs to keep with the integrity of the character and say NO!
IDK, Every comic fan knows Wolverine is 5’3″ on a good day. His diminutive stature and cornered animal demeanor are essential to the character. Now Huge Jackman is 6’5″ slouching and nothing about him says “runt”. But can it be argued that he embodies that character so fully that he’s likeable even in a pile of crap like X-Men: Origins?
I don’t know about Jackman playing Wolverine but Jackman would sure as hades be a better fit for Reacher:)
Cruise turned in an excellent performance in Interview With The Vampire. So, that renders your comment…kinda pointless.
Your “interview with vamp” comment shows you haven’t read the books and have no idea what your talking about. Like casting a My Little Pony as a bad ass former MP who’s 6’5″ and built like a Hummer, not a Miata.
This is fantastic news. Cruise is going to be great in this. Haters will hate.
“Haters will hate.”
Sorry but that phrase drives me up the wall. If those who had posted had done so with “Cruise sucks” and no other pertinent point then you could sprinkle that tired statement with justification.
Most people who have replied enjoy the Reacher character in the books and his physically imposing nature. They disagree with Tom Cruise as he is certainly not a physically imposing person.
It’s the difference between having an opinion for a reason in contrast to spouting that you like an idea, therefore all others must be intellectually inferior.
Perhaps you think Cruise’s films show a certain attitude or tough guy nuance that overcomes his physical inappropriateness? Michael Keaton is certainly not the epitome of physical perfection but many liked his Batman.
Or you just think “haters can hate”.
I absolutely love you, ‘Discuss’. Like you, I don’t mind if people disagree with my opinion, but they need to back it up with a substantive opinion of their own. I’m so tired of individuals coming on these boards with their Jersey shore vernacular to make comments that aren’t productive or helpful to the ongoing discussion. You can always tell when school’s not in session by the content of some of these posts. It’s definitely an argument for year-round school.
“Haters will hate” is rather a crude comment, a close relative of thread titles that appear on IMDB…”Anyone who thinks (fill-in-the-blank) is a jerk.”
Fans of Jack Reacher (i.e., people who have actually read the books) understand how wrong this casting is. What does hate have to do with that?
No Jack Reacher fan would condone Tom Cruise playing Jack. Absolutely asinine! Almost threw up when I read this online and i’m hoping it’s a joke! Clive Owen would be great – a nobody would be better than Tom Cruise!
Ooh yay, more opportunity for Cruise to play the same, brooding, slightly irritated agent character…
For Christ’s sake…
I would have liked to see Jackman get a part like that. Or even John Cena for God’sake, but Tom Cruise?
I don’t get the marketing strategy here: when your audience is built in by the author’s readership, why add another obstacle to be overcome by casting the wrong guy?
Jack Reacher is a strong, rugged, former MP who’s really tall and built…Tom Cruise has to wear platform shoes to be remotely similar in height to any of his co-stars in every film he does…it’s not fair to ruin a great book before production even gets started on the film! What a travesty…
Why pay 20 mil for Cruise when you can cast Aaron Eckhart, Josh Lucas, Brad Pitt, Alexander Skaarsgard, Channing Tatum, Daniel Craig, Joe Manganiello, Jason Momoa or Paul Walker?
Why spend 20 mil to cast someone who cannot embody the 6’5″ powerhouse that is Reacher, while silmultaneously pissing off Reacher fans?
HAve you people not seen collateral??
Good point. Cruise was quite good in “Collateral.” I’m sure the filmmakers will adapt the particulars of the character’s menace to suit the actor playing the role. Cruise is intense and focused, and does action well. He could pull this off.
No fan of the books would want Cruise in the role. No one who’s read the books would see Cruise as Reacher. It’s not a stretch, it’s ridiculous. Why not cast Snooki then by your logic? She could pull it off too.
Tom Cruise was imposing in Colateral because he always had a gun.
Jack Reacher could kill multiple ‘bad guys’ with his bare hands.
No comparison
Reacher’s height and power is a defining character trait; people think Reacher’s slow but he’s fast, they think he’s thug but he’s crafty and smart. He speaks French and is a total badass. Reacher’s height makes everyone notice him when he walks into a room. He’s not some pretty lil’ thing.
Or a freaking head butt. Let’s see Tom Cruise convincingly head butt some of the human tanks that Reacher comes up against. Hell, it’s practically Reacher’s favorite weapon and they are going to have to cast Cruise against girl scouts to pull a head butt off!
Still a Cruise fan. Sorry haters.
And BTW, Cruise was great in Interview With The Vampire.
You’re a tom cruise fan so he can ruin someone else’s franchise? By that logic cruise will make a smashing Lady Diana, Rick James or Winston Churchill.
I just can’t see it! I’m a “Reacher” fan as well, and I am really sorry that Mr. Child is sounding so supportive. This is one movie that I will have to skip.
NO_NO_NO_NO. I’ve read most of the Reacher Novels. Cruise is the last person that comes to mind when I see Reacher.
Reacher is six foot five and Cruise is maybe five foot six. PLUS he’s a terrible actor. Every line he says sounds the same.
— This ain’t no pretty boy roll.
Maybe Lee Child could stop this.
Except if he’s been paid off. OR…
Maybe they are going to rewrite the Reacher character where he has been cut off at the knees and is a short goofy guy that says every line the same way.
As a screenwriter, now I know the powers in Hollywood have lost what little sense they ever had.
•••Maybe they’ve done too many comic book characters.
If I was Lee Child, I’d raise HOLY HELL.
Eh. If somebody five or six years ago said that Robert Downey Jr. was going to play Tony Stark, I would have balked. RDJ is NOTHING like the comic character. Now look what he’s done with the role. Give Cruise a chance.
Not true at all. Any fan of the comic could tell you that RDJ was the perfect choice to play Tony Stark/Iron Man; in fact there was shock that the studio was willing to take a risk on someone who fit so perfect but hadnt had a hit in awhile.
This however is an awful fit. I like Cruise, but this is a bad match. Big shocker that the author supports it though; it’s a huge payday for him.
Well, there’s a movie I won’t be watching. Sorry, Lee Childs. Love your books. Hate your casting.
Cruise and McQuarrie are buds. That’s why he got the part.
If the author is behind it then I don’t see how any of you obsessive fans can throw a tantrum about it. After all, Child created the series from his own imagination and wrote them out himself. He knows better than you clowns.
Tom Cruise is completely wrong for this. Can he act? Of course he can, but a huge part of Reacher is his imposing physicality.
I quite like the idea of Liev Schreiber or Hugh Jackman in the role, but I always pictured Jason Statham in the role. At 5’10″ he’s shorter than Reacher, but still bigger than Cruise – and at least he can intimidate with a glower.
So, someone like Statham, whos is shorter and smaller than the character would be ok, but not Cruise? Every who says they like Cruise, but that he is wrong for the part are, of course, entitled to their opinions. They might even be right. But I think people are too hung up on Cruise’s persona here. He has proven in the past that he is willing to play with his image for the right part and filmmaker (Born on the Fourth of July, Vanilla Sky, Eyes Wide Shut, etc.). Granted this is more commercial a feature/franchise, but if he roughs himself up a bit and actually ACTS, he might be great….
No Tom Cruise. Not only because In My Opnion, he is a truly awful actor he is the wrong size shapeand attitude to be Jack Reacher. I have read e3very book and TC aint it. My wife had a tought though. Maybe Vinny Jones? A bit of work on the accent it could work
Sorry about the spelling. Forgot to check before posting
I love Tom Cruise, but not as Jack Reacher. Jack Reacher is not charming and handsome, he is rugged and damaged. Liam Neeson is my pick. He didn’t have a lot of dialogue in Taken and managed to play a total BA, as my son puts it. I hated Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross…please don’t ruin another one of my favorite heros.
Morgan Freeman was a terrible Alex Cross, I agree. A casting diaster! Now I lose another one of my heros? I can’t imagine Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher.( I still see him jumping up and down on Oprah’s couch, making a total A– of himself.) I’ve read all of the Reacher books, this will totally ruin them for me……………….Please Lee, say it isn’t so.
