• I like the show, but they crammed a LOT of gay stereotypes into the pilot. They’d better turn the volume down on that ‘mo before she gets tired. As in, all the gays are tired of watching that ‘mo.

• One of the worst, stereo-typical shows on air. Fran Drescher is tired and so limited in comedic ability. She’s the “Nanny” and that’s about it. She’s too irritating to be cute or sexy. There was absolutely no chemistry between she and Moffet and I’m only hoping he took the gig for the money. (which is a very low guest star salary). The gay jokes were not only old and played out, they weren’t even funny. What a waste. I was looking forward to watching more of an intellectual and clever take on a little seen plot twist, but was extremely disappointed. And I hope there is a director worth they’re weight who can stop Drescher from delivering her punch lines to the camera. My god, that hasn’t been in fashion since the Bob Hope/ Bing Crosby films. How corny can she be. She’s horrible. But I hope they re-tool the show, making it better, so those of us who are so fed up with the network “snarky” sitcoms can actually find something that doesn’t aggressively try to lower the viewers I.Q.

  • Drescher’s schtick has to be written-for, and directed, verrrry carefully to avoid that Sabado Gigante Telemundo style gameshow acting. She can do it, but is herself not the one who can reign it in. As for the writing..? Dude, it’s TVLand. Laugh tracks, formulas, staid sponsors… Frasier and All in the Family are gone. To the real point, her real life gay husband is attractive and sexy and confident– this poor grandpa they’ve cast does the role AND the community very little justice. Shallow point, but necessary… would be like if Drescher was played by Roseanne Barr. The gay husband revelation IS a great twist, and could– SHOULD– be really clever and ascerbic. But I think Fran is stuck on the “Nanny” merry-go-round. This current project appeals to a much different sensibility. And that reading to the camera shtick is just pathetic. The lines aren’t even worth her stepping thru the 4th wall to vomit them out. I’ve met both her ex husband and her in the privacy of his home. Very different dynamic than what this show is putting forth– a real shame. If only art really DID immitate life here.

• Fran looked pretty good to me. She was more “real” than The Nanny. Cleveland made me laugh hard.

• I disagree that Fran Drescher is a flat cake ! The show certainly is no worse than ‘Hot in Cleveland’ and is aimed at family viewing ! She is talented and hot , and should have been treated with more respect than ‘Livin’ with Fran’ , which crushed her abilities ! This isn’t ‘Two and a half Men’ , and maybe the Gay Stereotype needs a makeover , but this is humor for middle-of-the-road viewing ! I believe Fran is like an old Cheese that has only gotten tastier with time !

• Its every girl’s dream to be compared to old cheese. That said, I agree, the Mama’s Family crowd has been dying (hopefully at not too high of a rate) for a show like this.

• “Family material”? “Middle of the road”? If that’s how you people on this show are writing and playing it, you’re dead in the water. Families in the heartland are NOT sitting down to anything with gay content. This needs to be turned around fast- recast that elderly husband with a hot circuit looking guy, (someone who looks metro gay, and a guy Fran would actually marry) and write it to the Wil & Grace urban demo. This is NOT “The Nanny”. Time for a fresh start and new character Fran. I know you and your ex can do it.

• I will stop watch tv land because every time I turn on the tv any more I get the Nanny! Then you start another show with Fran Drescher another loser. Who needs to watch that!
