After winning nine Tony Awards on Sunday, including best musical, for The Book of Mormon, Trey Parker and Matt Stone went to The Daily Show for a victory lap. They talked breaking into the Broadway community, winning big at the Tonys and took a jab at troubled musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark.

My interpretation of the success is their legendary award winning professional theatre partner could take ‘ anyone ‘ and turn it into another award winner;
how would these two have done on their own?????? Without the infamous partner ??????
ask a theatre professional.
I agree but it also helped that it was the only original musical nominated. Everything else was a revival.
Well, it’s no Baseketball, that’s for sure.
well that is true, but I’m no big fan of their show either
They didn’t write or direct baseketball. They did that movie due to South Park being on the verge of cancelltion when it first started out. Trey and Matt have also made fun of baseketball numerous times in SP
They’ve come a long way from “Cannibal: The Musical!” Although, making fun of Mormon missionaries is like sweating a baby for wearing diapers.
Cannibal: The Musical! was pretty darn entertaining. Who makes a musical movie, set outdoors, with original songs as a period piece with that kind of a budget? They do. And they did a good job. It was fun to watch and the songs were catchy.
Matt and Trey have long been obsessed with the musical format, as anyone who has actually watched their stuff knows. Trey is a longtime theater geek so their success on Broadway does not surprise me, notwithstanding the help they received from any partners.
I love them so much! They are so awesome!
They were refering to back when they were rehearsing their own show and they heard about Spiderman also going into production. They were refering to back then, when they were joking about how they would lose the Tony to Bono. Then so many things went wrong with Spiderman and it didn’t even open in time for this years Tonys. That was the trainwreck they were refering to. The train wreck the news and every late night talk show host has been refering to for the past nine months. They said nothing about the opening of Spiderman. I dont’ even understand why this is a story.
