FX advertised the show pretty heavily, but bizarrely would only note that it was “premiering this week” as opposed to the more typical practice of telling the viewer the date and time of the show.
I suppose that type of mistake matters less than it once did, of course, since you can easily find out the day & time.
Apparently the numbers went up at the quarter hour, too.
My guess is the numbers relied heavily on Lord Of The Rings fanboys and fangirls who were checking in to see what Elijah was up to. They won’t last more than a few episodes. I thought the show was pretty boring.
Check back week 3….this thing has no legs. I got tired of it half way through.
Was good, I’ll be back.
Agreed, due to a recent surgery, I have been laid up and watched more tv in the last 2 months then I have in the last 4 yrs…point being, I would love to have 1/4 of the money f/x spent on advertising Wilfred. I have NEVER seen so many commercials advertising 1 show across multiple channels over such a long period of time, ever….it will be interesting to see what the % of drop off is over the next 4 weeks….stay tuned.
Australian version: episode 1 – 3 pretty slow. After you get to know the characters the show gets better. Not sure if the US version is
Done word to word to the Aussie version, but if it is or similar you’ll be crying of laughter by the series end.
I enjoyed it enough to click season pass. hope all that effort pays off.
A million more viewers tuned in for Wilfred than Louie. There is no justice in the world.
BRIMLEY!
loved it!
Hope the rest of the season posts numbers this high
and continues to be a strong lead in for Louie.
Who knew Elijah Wood could do comedy? He should do more! Clever stuff. Funny guy.
Come on ths is no news, Elijah Wood has been hanging around with Seth Rogen & co long time.
woof woof woof! Woof woof woof woof woof WOOF!
Nowhere near as entertaining as the Australian version
Dude, what kind of surgery lays you up for months?
Tv suck bongos.
Wilfred fits right in where it needs to. I loved it. I can understand why people wouldn’t like it, but I could say the same thing for Always Sunny and Louie. New non-network comedies are looking good these days. Workaholics was a pleasant surprise along with Jon Benjamin has a Van. If you don’t find any of those shows funny/entertaining then go watch Big Bang Theory. Let the laugh track do all the work for you with your dull sense of humor. Just so they don’t feel left out, Community & 30 Rock are the only big network comedies that get it. I can’t wait for the younger generation to really start taking over, the current regimes have failed entertainment across the board.
Big Bang tends to be laugh out loud throughout during a good ep. and has a stellar cast. Jon Benjamin had one funny bit in a half-hour, the “you can’t shoot here” segment. Get over your comedy snobbery.
Disagree with me all you want but at least it’s different than the sh*t network tv tries to shovel down our throat year after year doing the same old routine. Try watching BBT without a laugh track. It’s horrible, but maybe perfect for people who need to be told what is and isn’t funny. JBHV’s skit where he keeps pushing his producer over the border without a passport. The guy who suffers from PSTD but never went into combat. There is nothing else like that on TV. Same thing goes for Wilfred. You keep wasting your brain on unintelligent laugh track aided comedies. Right after CSI:Saskatchewan and Two and a Half Derps.
When you see “premiering this week” it is because you are watching a spot for an fx show on another network, and that other network won’t allow a competitor to include actual time and day info.
@Vinnie
Funny, halfway thru your post when you were praising “non network comedies,” I felt the urge to mention Community as a genuinely funny and original big network comedy that works… But you gave it a shout out later– cheers.
ok, so that happened. now on to “falling skies”. JFC, are you kidding me? this is straight out of the early ’80′s. my loud-on-the-phone british neighbor is more of a threat to life as we know it than the ef’n aliens in this series. on scale of one to ten the level of fear and terror sold by the writing and acting is less than zero. there’s less drama here than a bad episode of “survivor”. or “seinfeld”. c’mon people – make something watchable and engaging fer fooks sake.
Gee, would love to be able to watch FX shows more, if F’ing FOX would PUT SHOWS ON THE ONDEMAND!!!! And FX has gone one further, not putting shows on their website or Hulu until 30 days after. hell, the last season of Nip/Tuck wasn’t even online at all. You miss an episode of the serial shows and you are screwed.
Wilfred is available on iTunes, bro. Take a breath.
