ABC has renewed its summer cop drama Rookie Blue for a third season, rewarding the show for solid Season 2 ratings in its new 10 PM time slot on Thursdays. The series, which follows five rookie cops in their personal and professional lives, has won its time slot each week since its June 23 premiere. The show, which airs on Global in Canada and is shot in Toronto, is from Thump Inc and Entertainement One and stars Missy Peregrym; Season 3 is in development and will begin production later in the summer.

I freely admit I only watch the show for the hot women. I think most viewers do. It’s not like Missy Peregryn’s character is likable at all.
well i personally watch it to watch sam he’s so sexy and i had to put it out there.
The plots and the acting are OK.
But the Mentalist revels in Sacramento, Castle revers NY, Body of Proof showcases Philadelphia, unfortunately rookie blew does not acknowledge Toronto.
Is this a joke? Castle is filmed in Los Angeles – Body of Proof will be this fall (first season was filmed in Rhode Island).
I think John may be referring to the fact that the shows he listed are set in specific locales (although not actually shot in said cities). Rookie Blue is not set anywhere, per se, and is kept purposely ambiguous. Kind of weird, actually, when you watch it enough.
If you watch it and know anything of the location you would see it is set in Toronto. It just doesn’t scream TORONTO. Instead it names real streets and neighbourhoods and for those who are ignorant it comes across as ambiguous.
John, what do you expect? It’s a cheap show shot in Canada and licensed to ABC for $250,000 per hour. I suppose we should be grateful that ABC doesn’t fill their entire schedule with chaep Canadian shows, eh?
Imagine a network with a combination of Reality shows and Canadian imports, Oh the money that can be made on that deal.
I would actually be very surprised if it was that much money from ABC. Although I don’t know the dollar figure for Rookie Blue (and maybe you do and I should shut up) the U.S. network contribution for other Canadian hours is far less than that.
RB might be a low cost show but by far the best acting on tv just loved S2 and can not wait until S3
Missy Peregrym is easily one of the best looking women on television. Shes also quite appealing.
As for Canadian productions, Intelligence was the best!
As for cop shows, Southland was the best!
Given the fact that neither lasted more than 2 seasons, I guess I’m on an island
You might want to check your tv listings some time. Southland has lasted more than 2 seasons. It was renewed for a fourth season a little while ago.
