Is it possible that a non-family member may run Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp empire? Bloomberg financial news is reporting that Chase” Carey, who is deputy chairman and president and COO of News Corp, may be elevated to succeed Rupert Murdoch as CEO. But Murdoch would remain chairman. Quoting “people with knowledge of the situation,” Bloomberg says “a decision hasn’t been made”. The pressure seems to be coming from independent directors (who hold 9 of the 16 board seats) frustrated by the lack of quantity and quality of info about the scandal given the board. Also, a Carey promotion “depends in part on Murdoch’s performance before Parliament Tuesday. News Corp executives who watched Murdoch, 80, rehearse for his appearance before Parliament were concerned about how he handled questions, according three people who weren’t authorized to speak publicly,” Bloomberg writes.

Chase did well at Direct TV, and he can only be better than Rupert…unless, Rupert will still carry a ‘quiet’ big stick. News Corp would be well served the faster it can remove the Murdochs from the company management although they have a whole bunch of stock.
In today’s world…the Murdoch family is the global punchline in our vast social network. They are current “Darth Vader” dark side of the planet…and, Darth Vader only received redemption at his death when his Skywalker persona returned.
The story is amazing…but, the speed of it…boggles the mind. What a house of cards!

This is just a title to calm shareholders. Murdoch will still run the place. Kind of like Putin in Russia.
Chase Carey is an asshole and a fool, as all fans of the LA Dodgers can attest. When Murdoch briefly owned the team, his hatchet man Carey not only dumped the best and most beloved Dodger of that era, Mike Piazza, but did it in an especially reckless and arrogant way, costing the team dearly on the field and at the turnstiles. Surely there’s someone better to save this teetering empire now….
Chase Carey is a very capable executive and knows News Corp.’s businesses like the back of his hand. I think Wall Street would be very happy … and that is all that matters right now as the stock continues to slide.
And tough? He can and has made hard decisions during his time at News Corp.

Apparently starting each answer with “Don’t you know who I am!” and “I will destroy you.” didn’t come off quite right.
The people running News Corp. just don’t get it. After rightfully demonizing the Murdochs their answer is to promote someone who looks like this? It doesn’t take much of an imagination to add a couple of horns on his head and you’ve got satin incarnated. Couldn’t they have at least asked him to trim the stache?
For a company that deals with the media you’d think they might be a bit more image conscious….
At night, whilst Mr. Carey is in deep-slumber, the ‘stache stretches out and slots itself into Chase’s ears like a pair of some nefarious iPod earbuds and whispers thusly and sweetly to him: “all anchors on Fox News must wear Giraldo-type mustaches! Even Greta must wear a mustache! Twist me, Chase … bwoohaahaaa” At least that’s what The Reporter is saying …
Wonder what thoughts are going through Peter Chernin’s mind these past few weeks. He knew he was going to lose out to James Murdoch for control and decided to make the best of it. He cut, and ran as is making the best of it. Hope he writes his book one day about being the “outsider on the inside of a global media powerhouse”.
Boy what he must know….I hope the inquistion doesn’t beat up on Rupert to much. The young guns making a name for themselves over an 80 year old man..wrong it was..but diginity should not be left at the door. Ask your questions and let him speak dont grandstand,

even if Carry were to take Rupert role as ceo he would proably be a puppet leader with Rupert still having the real power to make the calls of running news corps for the scandal must be really bad if news corps is looking to remove Murdock as ceo . never thought i would ever see newscorps consider doing that to Rupert ever.
Wow. If Chernin had hung on for 2 more years he’d have the job he always wanted, instead of producing Rise of the Apes. How quickly things change.

It’s very telling that it would be a progress to get from Rupert Murdoch to a guy who looks like he hust tied a woman to a railroad track.
