CBS and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers have reached a tentative agreement on a contract that if approved would be effective through January 2015, the two parties announced today. The current deal expires Jan. 31, 2012. ”This new early agreement demonstrates the strength of the working relationship between CBS and the IBEW and reaffirms CBS’ commitment to the IBEW’s highly skilled work force,” CBS president and CEO Leslie Moonves said. The IBEW represents 2800 workers in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington DC, St. Louis, San Francisco, Dallas, Miami and Atlanta who service events televised on CBS Sports and CBS News. The contract — which includes a 2.5% pay raise this year, in 2013 and in 2014 — will be sent to union members for ratification, and the approval process should be completed by month’s end.

Ha.
CBS used the general 2009 financial collapse to GUT the IBEW presence in their formerly hallowed halls… Handing out 100s of pink slips with 1 week notice to (union) employees with years of service, and doing so under-the-radar by spreading the lay-offs over many weeks, so that there was little media notice (laying off a few dozen people per week for a few months is less noticeable than having one massive ‘Black Friday’) WHILE those lay-offs were occurring, many dozens of new ‘part-time’ (ie: Non-union) employees started appearing in the hallways every week… coincidence ? Hardly.
A quick look at Les M’s yearly bonus for the past three years will show you where their real priorities are.
This new ‘agreement’ is a joke, as is CBS’ “working relationship” with the Union.
and shame on you for doing little more than re-typing & posting CBS management’s press release.
