EXCLUSIVE: Simon Hunter has been set to direct Last Blood, a live action adaptation of the Keenspot graphic novel that takes place after a zombie apocalypse, when vampires must battle to protect the last surviving humans to keep alive the necessary blood supply. Hunter helmed Mutant Chronicles, the actioner that stars Thomas Jane, John Malkovich, Ron Perlman and Devon Aoki, as well as the James Purefoy-starrer Lighthouse. The pic will be formally announced at Comic-Con this weekend.
Last Blood will be produced by Ironclad exec producer Christian Arnold-Beutel as well as Red Giant Media’s Aimee Schoof, Isen Robbins and Benny R. Powell, and Keenspot’s Chris and Bobby Crosby. The Crosby siblings created the graphic novel with illustrator Owen Gieni, and Bobby Crosby wrote the script with Nick V. Sterling. Last Blood was published as an online comic in 2006, drawing almost 20 million readers around the world. Two prequel novels are in the works and they will be published this Halloween on multiple platforms.

Still more zombies and vampires? If zombies survive on brains, they’d starve in Hollywood.
where’s the “like” button on this thing?
At least THIS one is an original twist on both zombies and vamps…
Just when you thought they ran out of ideas to tweek Vampire lore some more.
I am sick of vampire related projects hollywood is getting worse every year
Now a friggin ONLINE comic nobody’s ever heard of gets picked up for a movie treatment? WTF? How did this happen? Are the creators Jewish? Gay? Freemasons? Illuminati? Skull and Bones? I mean damn, how can I get something across somebody’s desk without it ending up in the circular file.
Maybe try making your own online comic?
Laying off the racism and homophobia a little might help a little too……
“nobody’s ever heard of,” you say? From my understanding, the comic attracted almost 20million readers. That’s a lot of nobodies…
Please don’t be racist and homophobic. You might try funneling your misguided thoughts into something productive like helping people or showering.
Well maybe you just don’t have a good enough storyline.
1) This on line comic has plenty of readers.
2) Readers or no… -its a dang intriguing story!-
And that is what movie producers are looking for. Interesting and gripping stories. something that takes an angle that nobody else has ever done before that brings out depths of characters that viewers can properly relate with… which this comic does. I’m really interested to see what they do with the entire plot line base.
Comic or no, the storyline concept of vampires protecting humans from zombies so as to protect the last food source alive is new, original, interesting and down right gripping.
And I doubt you can even argue that. So stop being such a whiner and think of a better plot base rather then gripping because someone else has.
