Former Showtime executive Danielle Gelber has joined Dick Wolf’s Universal Media Studios-based Wolf Films as an executive producer and EVP. She will work closely with Wolf and Wolf Films president Peter Jankowski on all scripted development for the company. Gelber replaces Nena Rodrigue, who oversaw Wolf Films’ development for the past eight years. There had been a lot of speculation about Gelber’s next gig following her departure from Showtime at the end of last year, with her name mentioned for several network and studio positions over the past few months. Gelber’s new job at Wolf Films reunites her with NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt, who oversees UMS. Gelber had worked under Greenblatt at both Showtime and Fox.
Wolf said that he has been “a huge fan” of Gelber “since she, Bob, and I worked together on New York Undercover on Fox in the mid 1990’s.” “I look forward to her taste, intelligence and knowledge of the writing community energizing our development,” he said. Added Greenblatt, “Having worked closely with her for years at both FBC and Showtime, I don’t have higher esteem for many television executives in this business.”
During her eight years at Showtime, where Gelber served as SVP Original Programming, she developed such series as The Big C, Weeds, Episodes, The L Word, and Huff. At Fox, where she worked as SVP Drama Series Programming, she developed such series as Wolf’s New York Undercover, The X-Files, Ally McBeal, Party of Five, Melrose Place, Beverly Hills: 90210, Boston Public, as well as two series that didn’t go forward at Fox but became hits elsewhere: Dawson’s Creek and The Sopranos. Before Fox, Gelber was Director of Television Development at Spelling Television.

danielle is truly one of the most gracious and talented tv execs i’ve known. she’s a treasure and i’m thrilled to hear this news!!
Danielle is the best!! Super smart, talented and a wonderful and supportive executive. She’s a great lady and I wish her lots of success.
There is no one smarter, kinder or more deserving of this job than Danielle. Brilliant move by Wolf’s company to bring her on board!!
I’m super excited for Dani. She’s the best and deserves everything good that comes her way. Love you, Dani!
I first with Danielle when she was at Fox years ago. A smart, clever exec. Good choice.
Congrats to Danielle! One of the best people I know in Hollywood.
Clearly, Wolf has lost clout as his productions have been cancelled, one by one, with NBC. Only SVU’s left and it’s just hanging on. He needed a big hire to show the networks and the tv community that he’s still a player. Good move….she’s young, smart and very well liked. That will make a huge difference to writers and actors who want to associate themselves with a winner.
Smart, kind and talent-friendly, the best kind of exec.
What is she going to produce anyway at the Dick Wolf lot? They only have one show and given his record over the last 5 years, she won’t be producing anything past 12 episodes.
Dick Wolf is an icon. Greenblatt and Gelber are no dummies.
I wonder if both Greenblatt and Gelber were at Fox in 2002 if the treatment of Firefly and Joss Whedon would have been different. Would Firefly have gone on to any success under Greeenblatt and Gelber? Would Greenblatt and Gelber have treated Joss with more respect than the other executives did supposedly?
Gelber, YES. This shows the genius of Wolf and Greenblatt and how no one will ever remember the Jeff Zucker reign. Wolf is smart to nab Gelber. She’s respected by writers, agents but forget that, can you say Midas Touch? I knew her ‘when’.. X Files, Melrose Place, Ally McBeal, the list goes on. Great move, Dick!
Let’s hope danielle can get a network to pick up law@order la it was awesome
i’ve said it before; and i’m happy to say it again. danielle is one of the most respected, talented and energetic executives in town. she’s talent friendly. studio friendly. network friendly. a thoughtful and gifted go-getter. a great buyer and a great seller. this is a terrific move for dick and peter. good things will happen for all.
danielle is great big congrats!!
Only time will tell if dick wolf made the right move. She did let the sopranos get away!
I started out with Dani at Spelling and watched her star rise ever since….smart, kind, lovely and levelheaded, she deserves all her success. Great move, Dick, you picked a good one!!
