Dawn Taubin, a former domestic marketing president at Warner Bros Pictures, has joined the faculty at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. She has been tapped as Professor of Public Relations and Advertising and will lead Dodge’s program that brings together PR and advertising students with student filmmakers to create marketing plans for student films. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to take on a larger role at Dodge College,” she said in a release announcing her appointment. “As an adjunct professor I’ve come to have great appreciation for this unique program. It is exciting and rewarding for me to take what I have learned throughout my career in entertainment marketing and share it with the creative and passionate Chapman students.” Taubin joined Warner Bros in 1989 as VP Publicity and held various positions until she was promoted to head of marketing in 2002. She was let go in January 2008. She also has her own entertainment-industry consulting company, Cinema Vision.

Yay Chapman!
I am so happy for you Dawn. Good for you
Those who can’t do…
what exactly is it that you do, “anonymous” … ??
She was a former President at Warner Bros. Most will never be able to say the same, or the equivalent. If she wants to teach now, she probably has a lot to offer her students.
Lose the smarm, loser.
“Professor of Public Relations and Advertising!” wtf does that even mean?
If you have to ask….
Wanted to be Wendy Finerman. This is second best I guess.
i was fortunate enough to have dawn for a professor last semester and it was a really awesome experience
congrats to her
Yeah Dodge! Get it!
When are we going to stop pissing all over working professionals who decide they would like to give teaching a try? Chapman, USC and a lot of other colleges and their students benefit from those who have actually held jobs in the business.
Agree. There are a lot of working pros who go back and forth. It is an act of giving back. Hell, Jeff Goldblum who clearly does not need the money still teaches acting, because HE LOVES IT. The best teachers most film students can get are actual directors who can share the unique experiences every production presents.
Easy to tell the pro’s from the have-nots in these postings. Dawn put in 25 years+ at WB.
And did the job as well as anyone. She has just re-invented herself and Chapman is lucky to have her…and she’s lucky to be out the “fun” of studio life.
THIS IS SUCH A NON STORY!
Actually, my heart bleeds and reading “brings together PR and advertising students with student filmmakers to create marketing plans for student films”.
Way to ensure the next generation of film students to make more commercial crap.
…The content of the marketing plan is determined by the film’s content, not the other way around. Otherwise it would be called “screenwriting,” not “marketing.”
I was lucky enough to receive my MFA in Film Directing from Chapman University and I am so thankful for the education I received
My current work of future projects is going great – including many festival wins for my last film and notoriety for some of the screenplay contests I won – I don’t write that to boast, but I would be nowhere near this position had it not been for my education at Chapman
I am bummed that I’ve already graduated and won’t be able to take a class with Miss Taubin, but she’s joining the best faculty in the world – and she sounds like dynamite!
Congrats Chapman – keep up the terrific work! And good luck Miss Taubin! A warm welcome awaits you at Chapman!
With love and peace –

I was lucky enough as well to have Dawn as a professor and can honestly say I gained more from her class than any other I have taken to this day. Congrats Dawn.
I feel like working at WB was a lot more prestigious
Her Daughter is lucky to have a Mother that will help her succeed in College, now even more. If that is exactly fair to other students, who knows…
