More assurances that HBO’s long-running comedy series Entourage will spill onto the big screen with a movie, following the end of its eight-season run this fall. “If I had to finance it myself, I would do it,” executive producer Mark Wahlberg said during the TCA session dedicated to Entourage‘s final season. “I’ve been telling Doug, The Hangover is to me very much like Entourage, and look at all the recent success of R-rated movies.” Doug would be Entourage creator/executive producer Doug Ellin. “We’re going to do a movie,” he said. “We’re going to do it, the questing is when and how quickly. Hopefully we’ll come down with an idea and make it happen.”

I think this is welcome news. I think most people who are complaining never had any friends.
Entourage is nothing like The Hangover. The Hangover, first and foremost, is funny. Also, The Hangover has a talented cast. What is the Entourage crew going to do when that show ends. I don’t really see big careers for Adrien Grenier, that pipsqueak from Unhappily Ever After, and the fat guy. And Jeremy Piven is too much of a known douchebag now.
They should just bow out gracefully and call it a day.
Mark seems intent on undoing the loads of good will he’s built up thanks to BOARDWALK EMPIRE, THE OTHER GUYS and THE FIGHTER by insisting this ill advised movie get made.
Yep, Ally Musika killed Entourage. She started writing the characters as gossipy women and neutered the show. Shame on Doug Elin for letting that happen.
Entourage 3-D Please.
You can’t even stick a fork in this. It’s over-done, black, and shrunk beyond recognition.
please don’t.
How is the Hangover like Entourage?!
Wow, if everyone who watches the show regularly goes to see the movie, they might open to almost $10M their first weekend. It can be another huge success like X-Files The Movie… believe.
What a terrible idea and a complete waste of money. Entourage was only watchable in the first few seasons and then became a complete parody of itself. I don’t see this doing well in theaters.
Wow. That season premiere was sooooo bad. It’s too much of a soap opera now. I’ll keep watching because there’s only 8 this season. But man… they better get better, they have to get better.
And to compare Entourage to The Hangover. My God. Someone’s been talking to his yes men. If I said those two were comparable I’d be laughed out of every office in town.
It’s a tired TV show and the principals are all strictly small screen. It will not translate to the big screen. I don’t care how many name cameos are larded in.
Making this movie is like the GOP rooting for default. Everyone around DE and the GOP are saying it’s an awesome idea, it’s a gamechanger, and every other American is like “What the fuck are you doing?”
simply put this is a great show but it’s very much about inside (if fictional) baseball, no? I mean I was writing a deal for a client and the producer actually said this to me: “What do you think? I tell you what I think YOU watch too much Entourage.” Up to that moment, I’d never seen ONE episode. so more of the same as a feature? I don’t know about that. LOVE the entire thing, and yeah, I finally did get to see it.
Part of the problem I have with ENTOURAGE is how Vince has developed. He was never a particularly good or likeable guy, but Adrian Grenier had charm and you respected the way the character stood by his childhood friends.
Then he became a complete and utter dick, especially to E., who is arguably the most mature of the group. If not for Eric, Vince would have flamed out long ago. But E. always stood by him, gave him wise advice (even when Vince refused to take it, like with the horrible MEDALLIN film), and was able to relate to him as a friend as opposed to a sycophant.
And how does Vince repay him? He shits on him, tries to fire him, blames him for a host of things that weren’t E.’s fault. And E. fucking takes it like a bitch! This is not funny or dramatic, it’s plain sad and unwatchable.
Another problem for me is what they’ve done to Ari. The whole storyline about his being distraught by his separation from his wife is bullshit. Why? Because Mrs. Ari is a completely spoiled, Beverly Hills bitch. I like Perry Reeves as an actress, but this character is so bloody unlikable that I just don’t care, and this emotional arc feels contrived and just false. I have no problem with giving Ari a dramatic story arc — his whole breakdown after being fired by Vince was wonderful. But he’s the most interesting character in the whole series and he (and Jeremy Piven) deserve better.
Entourage kicks ass the movie will be very successful
It’s always fun to read the jealous types whining about Entourage.
Just admit it, you wanted to make this show and you got beat to it.
If you don’t like the show, don’t watch it.
If you don’t want to see the movie, don’t buy a ticket.
VICTORY!!!
Surprised more people don’t know Ally Musika quick rise. She earned it. Not by writing.
look this is the greatest show ever … the movies gonna just put the icing on the cake …. do it & its gonna b amazing
Entourage is great and will be a great hit regardless of you fools
MARK WAHLBERG OWNS YOU ALL!
You know what they say if you want something done in Los Angeles, then there is only one answer.
Boston, New York, DC, Philly, Chicago… , Bam
Ownership has it’s privileges!
Entourage has been my only escape the last couple of years…I’d finance it in a Hollywood minute-I don’t have much goin on anyway
