Lisa Lamp?
My God… these networks will peddle anything. Where’s the show about Paula Poundstone or Gallagher? I feel bad for LOGO, not being able to develop and/or attract real talent.
Sorry I must disagree. I think the network has carved out an authentic place for itself for the Gaystream Target it attempts to reach. It’s only 5 years old – give them a break!
There’s nothing authentic about Lisa Lamp or a designing dog show. Seriously? We’ll see how the other two fair, the jury is out.
If you wanna get original, take a look at what some of the other networks are doing. Bravo is the actually the de facto gay network, Logo is just the jealous little sister.
Could not agree more! Bravo is where it’s at! LOGO is just playing catch up ‘Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List’ sounds a lot like this Lisa Lampanelli show and of course you have the ‘A-List’ which is really just a knock off of ‘The Realhousewives’ series. Bravo just does GAY better!
I hope Lisa’s show does great! Better than most of the trash out there! You probably wanna watch Dress My Dog! I’d rather clean-up Lisa’s $h!t…At least she’s funny.
Really? You wouldn’t be VERY interested to see how Lisa Lampanelli handles MARRIAGE? I can’t wait!
Paula Poundstone would be a great fit for DESIGN MY DOG! She riffs on this topic in her standup act and the audience loves it.
Logo makes me depressed to be gay.
really quit being a hater
All of those shows sound terrible. Come on Logo you can do better than that.
At least put something controversial on the air
Agreed, as Carol Leifer’s next stop after this is an industrial video. How many shots has she gotten so far that have lead to a Jeopardy trivia question that stumps even her.
Carol is a sweetheart and a hard worker. She’s smart, successful and incredibly driven. And come on, industrial vid is the best you could do??
Love Carol Leifer! Her episode of Modern Family this season was my favorite. She’s funny, compassionate and never snarky unless called for. Can’t wait.
JUST WHEN I THOUGHT A NETWORK COULDN’T HIT ANY LOWER,I AM WRONG AGAIN. IT WILL BE INTERESTED TO SEE WHAT KIND OF RATING THESE SHOW WILL GET. GOOD LUCK TO THE FUTURE MAYBE IT WILL TURN OUT TO BE A WINNER. YOUR TRULY CHARLES DAVID HASKELL
I love LOGO. Clearly you all don’t watch the network or you would see that they are far from Bravo’s jealous little sister. There is more to television that catty housewives. I think the Lisa Lamp show proves that LOGO is broadening the aperture and appealing to the gay audience and their straight friends. And a designing dog show will make for good TV. Stop being so critical of a 5 year old network.
“LOGO is broadening the aperture and appealing to the gay audience and their straight friends.”
I won’t knock the network or their content but in my opinion, based on the network’s current line up, I think they are actually trying to appeal to a straight audience.
If someone can explain to me why Lisa Lampinelli is a Logo reality show star and not any number of other people who would be more relevant BECAUSE THEY ARE GAY please respond below.
LOGO has to be THE most tired network in existence. None of their shows target the mainstream gay community. You either have to be a drunk, a slut or pretentious. Great way to rep the community…
I beg to differ… LOGO represents individuality. It gives its audience a chance to choose an identity of their own, in addition to offering programming that teaches you to be comfortable in your own skin.
Brian Garden, the channels first president, also named by OUT magazine as the 10th most powerful gay person in America would never let his venture fail nor would he ever create a “tired” network. Additionally, by accusing him of not targeting the mainstream gay community is plain silly. Being predominant in the community himself and the 10th most powerful gay person in America, I can’t imagine he would ever create content that did not resonate.
However, I do agree with the post below about creating original programming from the hetero-normative broadcast/cable networks and formatting it into gay versions. What’s wrong with that?
Never measure yourself on someone else’s yardstick. LOGO is LOGO- give it a shot!
What about Logo doesn’t appeal to mainstream gay audiences? They have Absolutely Fabulous and Queer as Folk reruns, not to mention all of their original programming is basically a gay version of something heteronormative on the broadcast and/or other cable networks:
RuPaul’s Drag Race = America’s Next Top Model
RuPaul’s Drag U = Any makeover show, take your pick
The A-List = The Real Housewives
Pretty Hurts = Dr. 90210
The Big Gay Sketch Show = SNL
First Comes Love = Any bridal/wedding show
Noah’s Arc = Girlfriends
I mean, it may not be the most original way of programming a gay network, but they’re taking something that already exists but is aimed at a certain (straight) audience and making it gay-friendly. How does that not “target the mainstream gay community?”
And with regards to the Bravo comment, I don’t think they’re trying at all to be anything like Bravo. I’d say they’re trying to be more like a gay VH1.
Having said that, the only program on this list that interests me is Lisa Lampanelli’s show.
VH-1 is already the gay version of VH-1.
Isnt LOGO supposed to be the LGBT network like BET is for blacks? Then why are we getting shows about Lisa Lapanelli? Id like to get Logo but its not on the basic tier and I’m not paying any extra for cable; in fact, when my contract is up, I’ll probably give it up entirely and actually live my life with the occasional TV show on the web or $1 movie from Redbox….But now and then I get a free trial of Logo for a week and it seems like it’s a lot a lot of reruns, the same old shows and documentaries and gay movies – run over and over and over and over….old sitcoms that may or may not be gay…and then some stupid reality shows that look like Bravo rejects….Bravo seems to be more of an LGBT network with all its content…from Andy Cohen to Flipping Out to a lesbian ‘housewife” in the OC. Bravo deserves a lot of credit for what theyve done for gay visibility in the media , going back to Queer Eye to now when gay characters are just there and not made a big deal of…
Cant wait for the LL series. She is hysterical and the show will be great
I LOVE Lisa & Jimmy I’m beyond stoked to see more Lisa on TV!!
Lisa Lampanelli is hilarious! Haters just wanna hate…cuz that’s all they’re good at.
It’s awesome to hear about Lisa Lampanelli’s new show. That girl is the queen of comedy in my book, and well liked by straight and gay audiences alike. Way to score LOGO!
Its also awesome to hear more dogs are getting shows on TV!
Lisa is awesome! All I hatred just can’t take her truthfulness! I can’t wait to see ur show Lisa or the crazy shit ur about to talk <3
Lisa Lampanelli is awesome and I wish her the best of success with this show!
“Big Loud Lisa” sounds like a reality show I would definitely be interested in watching! Lisa is hilarious and I have to see this “Jimmy Big Ballz” character of a husband. I want to see a day in the life of Lisa Lampanelli. Hoping this works out.
Out of everything listed, only thing I can’t wait for is Lisa Lampanelli’s show! She is laugh out loud funny! I only ask what took you so long!!!
I’d love to see Lampanelli on there – but do they censor on that channel, cause it could be hard to follow the story if we can’t hear it in real life! Love Lamps!
No talent?… Tell that to all her SOLD out shows…the station is running AB FAB reruns… Lisa will add some freshness to the Drag station…
Lisa Lampanelli is hilarious. I will definitely watch that show. I think her fans will find it very interesting to see her “behind the scenes”. She surely can’t be that vulgar and funny all the time…or can she? I admire the talent that it takes to develop and maintain a successful comedy career. Not a lot of people are able to do it! I want to learn more about her and her life. I will be watching!
I will not be watching any of the other three shows mentioned, but I am not a gay. : )
So excited for Lisa Lampanelli’s show!!!!
People who miss the nuance of Lampinelli’s intelligence and Satirical comaraderie based insults make me happy that there remains a difference beween those who don’t ‘get it’, and the rest of bus who do.
R u kidding? You couldn’t get anyone better than Lisa Lampanelli! She’s hysterically funny and had a huge gay following. I think she’s the perfect person for a realty tv show. She’s also done a lot for her gay fans. LOGO should be proud to have her as should we.
Can’t wait for Carol and Lisa’s shows!!
Lisa Lampinelli will be ratings gold! She’s a gay icon–she can sing, dance, vamp and act like nobody’s business! Oh wait, that’s Liza. Well, Lisa Lampinelli is most definately the next best bet after Liza. Funny as hell with a heart of gold! Go LOGO! Add some news/politics programming to round things out for us old folks and all will be well.
Way to go Lisa! This show is going to be hilarious!! I’m ready to set my DVR!
Both my wife & I are straight (it seems to work for us) & are looking forward to Carol Leifer’s new series.
