HBO has inked a deal for North American TV rights to Martin Scorsese’s documentary George Harrison: Living in the Material World, which will debut on the network in two parts on Oct. 5 and Oct. 6. The doc explores the musical and spiritual life of the ex-Beatle and cultural icon, mostly in Harrison’s own words. It’s the latest musical documentary from Scorsese, who also recently made No Direction Home: Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones doc Shine a Light. His latest feature film, the 3D Hugo Cabret, is due out Nov. 23 from Paramount.

Harrison is interesting to say the least let’s see how scorcese can spin it
Jesus. Enough already with this boomer crap.
Ha. Yeah, when I re-watch “Logan’s Run” I always cheer for the young people. Peter Ustinov had his cats. Martin Scorsese still has to do Joni Mitchell…
“enough with the boomer crap”. Yes, let’s move on to the current generation. Guaranteed…we can go through this generation’s contribution to the world, I’d say, in about five minutes – total! NEXT.
Enough already with the jesus crap.
Boomer crap…uh huh..and uh..where’s your movie, dude? Oh, that’s right, you don’t have enough talent to make one yourself.
This sounds really awesome. Can’t wait to see it. The Beatles changed everything and Harrison definitely warrants more inquiry. I like Lady Gaga but does anyone really think they’ll be studying her music 40 years after she quits?
To answer your question, I think yes, they WILL be studying Lady Gaga’s songs 40 years from now. Her compositional talents are amazing, if you look into the chord progressions and hooks in her songs they are just as intricate, if not more intricate than our bleoved lads from Liverpool! However, the world could be a vastly different place in 40 years.
Oh, you have to be kidding me. You must be living in a parallel universe. You dare to compare that woman with the greatest artists of all time?
You’re right. Art is always about change. There is no “this is better than that”. It’s all a matter of the times that the art is part of. And you will be waiting with baited breath for the next documentary on Gaga in 40 years from right now. And I say that is a good thing. (Your kids will think you are hopelessly out of touch.)
For me, I can’t wait for this one.
George would have been the leader of any other band. I am looking forward to seeing this
Looking forward to seeing this. I wonder how his passing is portrayed and if it includes how dispicable G. de Bekker’s involvement was in “handling” it.
I have seen a rough cut of this film. It is amazing. Kudos to HBO.
