  • Well the set decoration is an AI ripoff and the closed door audition is another ripoff. And you know what, it seems to be all about the judges doesn’t it?

  • Great promo. The show is going to be huge. I was on the fence before, but this was nicely done. No idea how it is any different from Idol though…

      • funny thing is, this commercial pretty much agreed that the Volt is a piece of crap … comparing it to boring, untalented singers who no one wants. hahaha

  • Not so subtle stab at the ‘lovefest’ that AMERICAN IDOL has become and THE VOICE perfected. Thank goodness Simon is back to slam some delusional fools and speak the truth to those who actually have talent. Can’t wait for this genre to get good again. — G.

    • well personally i thnk that it is a very unique show my self and if only i would have known in advanced i would have enterd my self but o well mabe next time but for the ones who dnt make it at least they can say that they where given the oppotunity and

  • Dear America,

We don’t have to agree on politics, but we have a chance to do something here folks, together. If America does not tune into this, we have the chance to rid ourselves of Simon Cowell, forever.
If we fall pray to his genius (his ability to market himself), then I have to suffer more years if him driving around LA in his convertible Rolls Royce like he is king of the world.

    Please America, don’t watch this.

I know we are a dumb country but to let him make the exact same show and get away with it….PLEASE NOOOOOOO!!!!!! He’s just laughing all the way to the bank. At laughing at us.

We can rid ourselves of Simon – think about it…..

    • Your mistake is that if you wish to appeal to Americans you must first tap into their impossible to achieve dreams and desires, then exploit those few who have such potential but lack the creativity or originality or dedication, narrow those individuals down to the precious few who fit the mold of what “white bread” America will buy at Wal-Mart and then shovel it down all out throats during prime-time.

  • Now THAT’S how you make a trailer!

[Only downside is that Coke is substituted by Pepsi. Can't win'em all.]

  • It’s sooo different from A.I. The judges! Oh wait… The format! Oh ah… The panel! Oh, um… This is how Fox is extending the A.I franchise all year long. Yes – that’s different!

Comment by XYZ — Tuesday July 12, 2011 @ 6:15pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Looks pretty good to me, and I hate those shows normally. That said I doubt I’ll watch it, I’m well over what must be the 13 year old’s it’s targeted it at.

Though often repeated it remains disturbing that a consequence of the vast increase in our population and the decline in education standards, we are now subjected to a barage of shows like this – the most popular has become incredibly dumb,

and it wasn’t always that way.

Comment by SleepingOliver — Tuesday July 12, 2011 @ 6:29pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Simon is by far the best judge ever on a show like this. The others are all posers.

  • havent read the other comments but I’ll be honest … I fell for the first half of the commercial and was thinking the whole time “you’ve got to be kidding me?!?! she’s terrible!! they all are!!” … but then of course …

    that’s smart marketing.

suppose I’ll read the other comments now.

  • They should’ve kept Cheryle Cole. They treated that lady like shit! and mark my words it will come back to haunt them, all of them. And Nicole Swartenger had something to do with Cheryl leaving the show, how is it that she (Nicole)announces her desire to have a panel job and not even a week later, she’s somehow got Cheryl’s job>? that doesn’t seem quite right to me.
Good luck Nicole, I don’t know who you blew to get this position, but good on you honey, good on you. You’re not getting any older, so don’t wear out your knobby little knees just yet.

  • The Bugatti and the helicopter shots…The C Team..or…Simon’s Angels.

Comment by Tom — Tuesday July 12, 2011 @ 9:32pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Cheryl Cole is The X-Factor missing from The Simon Show this is sure to be. Nicole was clearly the back-up plan for the Cheryl fears some FOX execs overreacted to so her role as “host” could easily become “judge” in a pinch. The sad part is that America just isn’t interested in Nicole and her solo career as Not Beyonce won’t take off. I hope they see they see the error of their ways and ship Nicole back to Dancing With The Stars and hire Cheryl for Season Two!

  • i just dont get what is different about this at all?
how is this NOT Idol, voice, americas got talent?
    its exactly the same

    • There are some differences you don’t know about yet. And while I will give you some Idol similarities and one Got Talent one (mainly due to Simon creating and producing both shows), The Voice is actually the show that’s not too different because it didn’t come first. Maybe here, but not originally. The Voice came from Holland in 2010, while The X Factor came from the UK in 2004, before The Voice and Got Talent were even created.

  • Is this the new season of American Idol but with a different name? I guess you Fox has to put something in between American Idols to get some ratings and the stupidity in America is so high that people will flock to this ripoff like idiotic lambs.

Comment by Manny — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 12:38am PDT  Reply to this post
  • Look, neither Cheryl Cole nor Nicole Scherzinger have set the record industry on fire with their solo efforts- we’re not talking about ridiculously talented singers, we’re talking about extraordinarily beautiful women who sound okay once they’ve been put through a sound board.

However, I was interested in seeing Cheryl on American X-Factor, because she’s so popular in England- I wanted to see what the fuss was about, I thought her accent was charming, and I wanted to see how she would handle an American audience. She was interesting to me.

Nicole Scherzinger- snore. I saw her on DWTS, and while she was a great dancer, I don’t remember a single facet of her personality- was she funny? Smart? Witty? Sweet? Bitchy? It’s all a big blank. To me, she’s a big blank.

I won’t speak for the general viewing audience, since my favorite shows are rarely ratings winners so obviously our tastes diverge, but Cheryl Cole was enough of a draw to get me to tune in. Now, I’m not bothering.

  • Now this is brilliant. They know exactly what they are and aren’t making apologies for it. Well played Simon! Happy and hopeful for your continued success!

  • I honestly don’t see how this is any different from Idol. Simon Cowell – check, Paula Abdul – check, person of color judge – check, annoying host – check, live audience – check. It’s all just become so boring and generic.

  • I WILL NEVER WATCH X FACTOR U.S. Cheryl must have got the shock of her life when she wnet to the U.S. to find it was all a game. Nicole is not that innocent, Nicole manager Mr.Haddad said he received personal assurances from from Simon that Nicole would be the judge and that Simon used Cheryl to hype his show, WOW Simon what a way to treat a friend?
