New Line Cinema’s second ensemble romantic comedy linked to a Hallmark card holiday (the first, Valentine’s Day, made $216.5 million globally last year) is due out Dec. 9, 2011. Garry Marshall returns to direct New Year’s Eve and a cast that includes Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Katherine Heigl and Robert De Niro in a movie about intertwining stories on the year’s final night.

Love the brief scene of a very drunk and disheveled DUH-Nero. Wonder how much he got for that brief scene (or how much he’s actually in the film). This is almost as bad as Al Pa-ching ching-no in JACK AND JILL.
Please tell me that this is a joke trailer making fun of other romantic comedies….
Yes!! It’s time for a spoof of these ensemble romantic comedies. Maybe then I’d laugh instead of grimacing like George C Scott.
oh i give up – see ya hollywood, it’s been nice knowing you (click, BOOM!)
YESSSSSSS!
So funny…
Give me 10 Battleshits over this trite garbage.
I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.
In all fairness, though, it looks exactly like the kind of movie it wants to be, mindless, romantic silliness.
Attention all actors!
Paychecks! Getcha Paychecks!
With all of those A-Listers most likely working for scale plus points. Will there be any back-end left for the studio?
With a cast of thespians that fine you know it’s gotta be good. The charm just oozes off the screen.
Duhamel, Heigl, Kutcher and Biel together on screen?
That sounds like a kind of punishment.
movies like this are a reason to start drinking again…shame on the new (low rent) new line and shame on any actor in it
God, seeing this trailer in November would be nauseating enough, but seeing it in July drives home how pre-packaged and artificial and boringly uninsightful this movie is, about just another night. After we ushered in the new millennium over a decade ago, one that’s turned out to be pretty traumatic by the way, do we really need the Hallmark treatment on just a regular NYEve? Even Hallmark would find it sappy.
looks cute
Agree
The Love Boat crashed in New York and all I got was this lousy t-shi(r)t.
LOL, don’t give them any ideas!!
Actually…..
Like flies to shit.
Perfect movie for me to watch on HBO… when I stay home on NYE 2012/13.
Weren’t half these people in Valentine’s, Actually?
What a completely shameless and unoriginal idea.
looks like shit….i am usually pleasantly surprised when you post a trailer as “hot”…this trailer was HORRIBLE.
The only consolation for this crap is that Groundhog’s Day won’t be on the list.
Man, what’s next for New Line? “Cinco de Mayo”?
The ensemble love story surrounding a holiday worked in Richard Curtis’ “Love Actually”. New Line’s “Valentine’s Day” always seemed like a cheap American copy. So can we hope for more from “New Year’s Eve”? Besides, haven’t we seen these storylines many times before, including the climax in “When Harry Met Sally”?
This looks like a direct-to-DVD effort.
Proposed additions to this obviously money-making scheme:
1) “The Day After News Year’s”: in which everyone wakes up to the horror of what they’ve just done the night before.
2) “Memorial Day”: While kick-ass teens and twentysomethings meet and make out, service families nervously wait by the airport gate to see who gets off the plane and in what condition. Downer scenes while muting regular BO should be more than made up for by sympathetic service personnel audiences. Suggest sneak previews at Kandahar and Mosul.
3) “St. Patrick’s Day”: Drunks of all ages get in the spirit of the day by going blotto, meeting cute, and puking. Apatow-style vomit scenes should push this into mega-tent pole status.
So, let me get this straight…this movie has a lot of the same actors as Valentines Day, but they’re playing different characters? Since this is practically the same movie as the Valentines Day, why do that?
I don’t even know where to start. could they have put together a more irritating cast? SJP tops it but Ashton is right up there.
But honestly, whats next? Mothers Day?
The only thing more irritating than this movie is the fact that it will do good business. Sigh.
White People: A Love Story
Starring Chris “Ludacris” Bridges as “the Help”
Y’know, after watching that trailer, suddenly I’ve found a use for the rope and horse tranquilizer in my basement.
The only cast members from Valentine’s Day are Jessica Biel and Ashton Kutcher. I initially thought they were playing the same characters though. It would have made the most sense to make it set in the same universe as VD, being that WB/New Line probably plan to do another romantic comedy anthology set on a holiday. I only liked VD because it had multiple storylines intertwining, and I think that’s a great way to tell a story. I can only imagine what the next holiday will be… Fourth or July, President’s Day, Thanksgiving? haha
Also; I could have sworn Halle Berry dropped out of this movie and was replaced by Katherine Heigl. Did she come back or are they just sticking the few scenes she filmed in the trailer to mislead audiences?
