  • Looks just as craptacular as the first one. And it will make $500 mill or more.

Can’t wait for the Nolan reboot in 5 years!

    • You mean the craptacular first one that was well-received critically and very well-received by movie goers?

      Ah, yes, that one.

Comment by Jeff — Thursday July 14, 2011 @ 1:45am PDT  Reply to this post
      • Rottentomatoes has it at 70%, with Top Critics at 58%. So while your statement is partially true–many critics liked it–it wasn’t entirely well-received.

And I know many people who thought it was a steaming pile o’trash.

  • This look awful, just like the first. However, if you’re a Holmes fan, check out the BBC show.It is fantastic!

    • If you mean the one with Benedict Cumberbatch, I totally agree. It’s ruined me for all the other Sherlocks.

    • As awful as your grammar?

Comment by Jeff — Thursday July 14, 2011 @ 1:43am PDT  Reply to this post
  • Why are they reusing the same backend library cue? It’s not like the cue is synonymous with the franchise. It strikes me as lazy, just like the film itself.

Comment by Abacus Finch — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 4:37pm PDT  Reply to this post
    • They probably haven’t scored or finished scoring the movie yet. I like the music from the first one, so I hope the sequel will have the same sound.

  • This. Looks. Painfully. Bad.

  • Terrible. Embarrassing.

  • Couldn’t have done it better myself…excellent. Those boys are terrific together.

Comment by Conan Doyle — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 4:47pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • SHERLOCK on the BBC takes this (and the first one) behind the woodshed, then slaps it around in public for a while. Then goes back behind the woodshed. That being said this will make a ton of money, because moviegoers love faux-witty.

Comment by jer — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 4:48pm PDT  Reply to this post
    • ehhh truth be told the last episode of the BBC Sherlock wasn’t that good

Comment by mourinho — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 5:09pm PDT  Reply to this post
    • And does what? Does what it take them both back behind the woodshed and, you know, do horrible, terrible things to them whilst some hillbilly plays a banjo? I think it does. Twice.

Comment by Ripsnorter — Thursday July 14, 2011 @ 1:18am PDT  Reply to this post
  • One hot mess.

Comment by Jiminy Kritic — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 5:13pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • I really enjoyed the first SHERLOCK HOLMES. In fact, I liked it more than AVATAR, which also came out around the same time. And while I don’t care to see Downey Jr. in drag the action looks cool enough. A little much on the hate, in my opinion.

Comment by enough already with the haters — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 5:17pm PDT  Reply to this post
    • It’s definitely better than Avatar.

Comment by Justin P. — Friday July 15, 2011 @ 9:15am PDT  Reply to this post
  • What’s with all of these negative comments? Were you people expecting? Some kind of faithful and straight forward literary adaptation? This looks good, and it will kill at the box-office. If you guys have a problem with what Hollywood is feeding you then STOP SEEING THE FUCKING MOVIES AND MAKING THEM HITS!

Comment by Riley — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 5:42pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Guess I’m in the minority. As much as I thought the first film was a snoooooooze, this trailer looks kind of bad ass.

Comment by bounder — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 5:47pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Looks delicious. Found the 1st SH boring. But I’ll see anything w/ that force of nature Noomi Rapace.
Trailer’s too long, though. Cut it to 1:50 & you’ve got a winner.

Comment by a — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 7:11pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • boy oh boy….just can’t get enough of that slow-mo!

Comment by j — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 8:21pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Thing is that SH2 is scheduled for release on Dec. 16, the same day Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol will also debut at the multiplex.

I’m not going to brave a nasty mid-December winter in Chicago to see either of them at the godzilla-plex… but SH2 and M:I 4 will be pre-ordered from Amazon as their DVD/Blu-Ray release dates near.

Comment by Stephie — Wednesday July 13, 2011 @ 8:33pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Looks like a huge amount of fun, just like the first one. I’m glad I can enjoy different takes on classic characters as long as it’s entertaining.

Oh, and the BBC Sherlock is -also- very good.

Comment by Jeff — Thursday July 14, 2011 @ 1:47am PDT  Reply to this post
  • It looked good for a few seconds, then it devolved into a mash-up of reused Hollywood tropes that you’ve seen a million times. Shoot-em-ups, train chases, ha-ha not very funny jokes, more shoot-em-ups. But THIS time with old guns! Bleh.

Comment by Maryland — Thursday July 14, 2011 @ 8:58am PDT  Reply to this post
  • I thought the first one was pretty bad though Jude Law was great in it, the woman (love interest) was horrible. I’m a huge fan of RDJ & thought he was terrible in it mumbling his lines.

This one looked better and has Noomi Rapace (!!!), gosh she is a GREAT ACTRESS…..LOVE HER SO MUCH!

Comment by Missy — Thursday July 14, 2011 @ 10:17am PDT  Reply to this post
  • Was is it lately with you haters ? Immortals looks bad, Mission Impossible 4 looks bad, now Sherlock Holmes 2 looks bad. I just get the feeling that sequels or some sort of copy-films (Immortals) are ultimately classified as crap.

Comment by Karl — Thursday July 14, 2011 @ 10:55am PDT  Reply to this post
  • I’m a HUGE Sherlock Holmes (the books) fan, and I enjoyed the first movie, although I wasn’t completely in love. This looks ok, it’s just insane to me that they can’t make a movie about one of the most lethargic characters in literature without at least 30 explosions.

Comment by Ian — Thursday July 14, 2011 @ 4:28pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Yes! Can’t wait!

Comment by vjnla — Thursday July 14, 2011 @ 5:32pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • Yea, I don’t get all the hate. It is what we expected. I can’t wait to see it. FEED ME HOLLYWOOD!! Ha.

Comment by courtney — Friday July 15, 2011 @ 7:07am PDT  Reply to this post
  • How about all of you stop complaining and get a life. It’s funny how none of you have reached your goals or are probably working dead end jobs. I also think you assistants need to focus on yourself. STOP HATING.
