House star Hugh Laurie today commented on the departure of original cast member Lisa Edelstein. “We all miss Lisa very much,” Laurie said at TCA following a panel for his upcoming PBS special, Great Performances: Hugh Laurie: Let Them Talk — A Celebration of New Orleans Blues. More from TVLine.

well Hugh you could have done something to keep her.
Laurie has been making noise in the Brit media that this may be the last season of the show, he may be ready to move on. Edelstein most likely knew this and asked for too much. The only person that the show can’t live without is Laurie.
Like what? he has NO control with contract talks between an actor and networks. Her decision and hers alone to walk away.
Hm. Yet he said nothing when Jennifer Morrison was stabbed in the back to make room for Olivia Wilde, the new “it” girl who turned out to be box office poison. Class act Hugh, class act.
I miss Lisa Cuddy. Who’s the new Dean at PPTH? Eric Foreman?
Stopped watching years ago when they axed the first team. I just never got that move and the replacements weren’t as interesting. I was growing weary of the hourly procedure shows anyway but thi one was pretty good for a while.
I will miss Lisa. She was a real class act in the show.
Olivia Wilde is a great actress. It’s the movie that sucked. So, she box office poison.
So, she isn’t box office poison.
Actually, to me, Hugh Laurie is a class act through and through. He’s had nothing but glowing and kind things to say about his co stars and the writers of the show. He has been nothing but a gentleman. Just recently Jennifer Morrison called him inspirational. If it weren’t for him, Lisa Edelstein wouldn’t have had a show to be on for seven years and Jennifer Morrison six years. Not to say he is the only reason, but he is huge part of why House has been on the air and it seemed Lisa Edelstein admitted not so long ago how rare it is to be together that long.
Hugh you coulda’ said something earlier when the people you work for thought it would make their balls grow bigger to push Lisa around. She stood up for herself and all actors. You took the paycheck. Pussy.
Hate to Lisa go, but the main reason I won’t be watching House anymore is horrific final episode last season. I’m spite of his determination to push everybody away, I still had some compassion for Hugh Laurie’s character. But when he ran that car into Cuddy’s house, which have killed everyone there, including Cuddy’s little girl, my reaction was much like Cuddy’s (and maybe Wilson too). I care nothing about that character anymore. He finally stepped over the line. He might as well died as far as I’m concerned. And what’s the point of watching a show whoseain character
The character of House is brilliant. The catch phrases are fun…
Otherwise, it’s the same fucking episode. Over and over again. Week after week. Laurie aside, I don’t see how any of the other actors can take it. How do you do that? The same thing, over and over again…
The Cuddy character had exhausted writing possibilities. The character was always a bit preposterous and Edelstein, talented though she is, wasn’t able to make her at all credible as a hospital administrator. (Admittedly, credibility on this show is not in existence in any way, especially medical.) And now, how could Cuddy continue a relationship with House, personal or professional, after he drove a car through her house. It was time to retire both the character and the actress. I suspect Edelstein saw the writing – or lack thereof – on the wall in addition to balking at the proposed salary cut.
No one knows why in the end Lisa Edelstein left. We are presuming she left for money and/or creative reasons. How common is it for actors to comment on each other’s departures from shows? I’m honestly asking this question, because I’d like to see some of them or hear some of them. Has Mark Harmon, who is considered a class act, ever commented or said he misses his co stars who left his show which has been on many years? Actually, I’m hoping someone could share his quotes with me,I’d like to read them or hear them, honestly. “We will miss Lisa very much” is a lot more than most actors get when they voluntarily leave.
I loved the Huddy romance. What a sexy, brilliant, dreamy couple they were. I’ve been pairing them up since the beginning of the series. Hugh Laurie’s brilliance is inherant as a “heartthrob” and Lisa Edelstein is smart and sexy enough to ‘tango’ with him. Without her, the romance is gone. I won’t be able to watch without her.
