NBCUniversal is making more episodes available from programs such as 30 Rock and Keeping Up With The Kardashians. But they don’t include shows from the current season — and NBCU can make similar deals with other online distributors.
NEW YORK and LOS GATOS, Calif., July 13, 2011 – Netflix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) and NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution today announced a multi-year renewal of their licensing agreement expanding the selection of non-exclusive NBCU film and TV library titles available to watch instantly streaming from Netflix.
Programming under the deal includes prior-season series across multiple NBCU networks, including NBC hits “The Office,” “30 Rock” and “Parenthood.” All future seasons of these shows will be available on Netflix on a one season delay basis. Under the deal, Netflix members will also be able to enjoy prior season episodes of “Law and Order: SVU” and “The Event.”
Also available to watch instantly streaming from Netflix will be shows from NBC Universal’s cable networks including prior season episodes of “Warehouse 13,” “Psych,” “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and “Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane”; classic television series such as “Leave it to Beaver,” “Adam 12″ and “Crossing Jordan”; and such great Universal Pictures movies as “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “The Motorcycle Diaries.”
“This agreement demonstrates our commitment to providing NBCUniversal’s high-quality content to consumers on a variety of platforms,” said Frances Manfredi, Executive Vice President and General Sales Manager, NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution. “We are very pleased that Netflix recognizes the increasing value of NBCUniversal’s extensive content offerings for their subscribers.”
“Our relationship with NBC Universal has been, and continues to be, mutually beneficial and has led to regular expansions of programming for our subscribers,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer. “This latest deal includes more episodes of more shows from more NBCU owned channels than ever before. From “30 Rock” to the “Kardashians,” there is something for everyone to enjoy.”

hope this means COMMUNITY!
Sorry, Wonderllama, but I doubt it. NBC doesn’t own Community, Sony does, so that’s why it’s not on Watch Instantly now and why it probably won’t be anytime soon.
Yet more shows streaming on Netflix that I don’t care to see.
So everything is staying exactly the same.
…
Except for the price.
Thank Goodness I can still get high late at night and watch Leave It To Beaver. Larry Mondelo for the win!
In other words, more shitty programming for an increased price on Netflix. Fail.
But, no THREE STOOGES! OOH-OOH! Oh, yeah, there in the Netnuts Executive Offices making these 60% increase decisions! OOH-OOH!!!
It’s funny how they named “The Event” in a press release for this deal. They turn to “The Event” to make some money, yet they didn’t have enough respect for it to give it a second season. And whenever NBC is looking to make money, they turn to the Law & Order franchise, which here they did again. The franchise they keep treating like dirt.
Well, that puts a crimp in the plans for everyone who’s dropped their cable company to watch shows on Netflix (and they’re increasing their prices for this privilege?). One season delay? Let’s hope Hulu doesn’t get the same deal, or they might as well shut down.
Late comment, but Netflix only had SNL the same season so this is nothing new. Don’t be misinformed.
When will netflix be putting the rest of the law and order seasons on? 8 isn’t Enough…. we’re waiting!!!
I dropped hulu plus because of the price and the crappy interruptive ads. I am (currently) sticking with Netflix because of the reasonable price and no ads. HOWEVER, it would be VERY nice if Netflix and NBCU would make good their “promise” of 2011, and present ALL the rest of the Law & Order/L&O:SVU/L&O:CI seasons in a timely manner!!
