EXCLUSIVE: Nicolas Cage and John Cusack are in talks to star in The Frozen Ground, a drama to shoot this fall in Anchorage, Alaska. It will mark the feature directing debut of Scott Walker, who wrote the script. Pic is based on true events surrounding Alaska’s most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen. Cusack is in talks to play a respected family man who for over 12 years abducted more than 24 women and flew them into the Alaskan wilderness to be hunted. Cage is in talks to play a principled and dedicated Alaskan State Trooper who finds Hansen’s only surviving teen victim alive on the street. The trooper and the young girl finally bring Hansen to justice.
The pic’s produced by Emmett Furla Films’ Randall Emmett and George Furla and Amber Entertainment’s Jane Fleming and Mark Ordesky. Pic will be exec produced by Envision Entertainment’s Stephan Martirosyan and Remington William Chase, and Curtis Jackson. Financing is by Emmett Furla and Voltage will handle international sales. Emmett Furla just finished Fire With Fire and the Stephen Frears-directed Lay the Favorite and is gearing up for production on Broken City and the David Ayer-directed End of Watch with Jake Gyllenhaal.
Cage most recently wrapped Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and Cusack wrapped The Raven and is shooting the Lee Daniels-directed The Paperboy. CAA reps Cage and Cusack. Walker’s deal was made by attorney Lev Ginsburg. He doesn’t have a manager or agent, but that will probably change soon.

Cage is the man! He’s had more consecutive flops than anyone in damn history, but still… he IS. THE. MAN. ROCK ON.
Wooo HOOOOO more violence and sadistic killings…..yeah baby!!
just what the world needs more of….up on the silver screen….
kids being kidnapped and murdered….serial killers slaughtering people….
yeah….let’s bring it to the screen….the more the better!!
Wow. Hi this is the real world. There are vicious and vindictive people here. There has been ever since humans knew of the difference between right and wrong. If you want images of sunshine and false illusions, head to that imaginary place in your head that doesn’t exist. Or just build yourself a bomb shelter and live there for the rest of eternity. Don’t bother coming out though. Those bad people will still be around.
I for one would like to see the movie made due to the fact I am in Anchorage and I know someone who lost her life to Butcher Baker so I feel the story should be told and the kids are considered adults at 18 so maybe they may not act like it the women that he killed were all human beings and he did not have the right to take what was not his and mostly the way he did it. I am a big fan of both Nick & John so I look forward to seeing them up here
I am extremely to see how well this production will be executed, as I was familiar with the story long before the news of the film came out. I live in Anchorage, Alaska as well and my mother, Rebecca, worked with Robert Hansen at the Safeway bakery a few years before he was found out. She was invited by him to his house to ‘learn cake decorating techniques’ but went with her gut instinct and denied the offer. THANK YOU, GOD!
this was a true story it happened in 1983 my father was one of the lead trooper investigaters of this case who helped solve it-
Agreed. I’ve got a fever, and the only thing that can cure it is More Nick Cage.
‘Pic will be exec produced by Envision Entertainment’s … and Curtis Jackson.’
50 Cent?

“Emmett Furla just finished Fire With Fire”
Yes, 50Cent. Fire with Fire is another one of 50Cent’s movies that finished filming. Looks like he’s on a roll with these movies and his new found industry friends.
Totally siked! This is gonna be complete awesomeness!
GET OFF NICK! Where’s the next National Treasure? Those weren’t flops were they?
The real story on this Robert Hansen is wild. There are all these websites about it. This creep was like hunting people he placed in the wild and then living a normal life like anyone else. this movie better be cool
great script, it feels like SEVEN
The perfect follow up to Say Anything.
Yes that was a good movie, I love anything with John Cusack, I love his sister Joan as well they are great fun to watch. I think I have every movie John has ever done.
I’m serious when I say I love Con Air and that I love the idea of these two working together again.
There is no joke in that previous sentence. This is awesome and my love of Con Air makes it more awesomer.
Awesomer was a word I invented just for this occasion.
Hey it’s a Con-Air reunion!
This is going to be great – I can’t wait to see who the courageous teenage girl is who helps the trooper catch the psycho!
Bring it on.
Yay! Something else for Alaska to be known for besides Sarah Palin! Or that stupid Drew Barrymore whale movie..
This is a remake of a film called “NAKED FEAR” that was distributed by Cinetel Films. Remakes are never as good as the originals.

Great stuff!
Whenever I think of shelling out $20+ for an entertaining movie, I go with stories of innocent women being hunted and slaughtered for 90 minutes.
Ah yes. Glorified stories of real serial killers just oozes with entertainment value.
This should do wonders for Nicky-boy’s rapidly dying career.
/end sarcasm
Your funny. I agree that serial killers should not be glorified; however we all know that everyone is curious about such people. Most of us cannot understand why they do the things they do, it’s not like we are looking for ways to kill people. Those of us who would NEVER hurt another human being find these creepy people interesting. Don’t kid yourself; your curious too.
Maybe Nicolas Cage can reboot his currently flopping movie career with this.
I’m actually excited. Not only have I lived in Alaska for years but I live only 20 minutes away from Anchorage where this movie will be filmed. I’ve heard of this story many times, hope it turns out well in the end as a movie.
I got involved with robert hansen. I am the one in the book that he shot at while i was circling his airplane while he was doing his thing on the Matanuska River. Sounds like Hollywood will Hollywoodize this story. I saw it as a little different and it was an interesting adventure. Read the book Butcher Baker and you will see Robert wanted to know who was circling him in the airplane. It got extremely interesting later. So much for Walkers script the true story is much much more interesting.
It’s such a shame to see people making stories about worth site of the one of the beautiful place in the world! Alaska!
What is the reason to pick up this garbage? And the answer is – MONEY!!!!!!!!!!
No moral, no idea, nothing at all.
Unfortunately it’s not for the first time. We have great examples of ‘Insomnia’ (2002) with Al Pacino and Robin Williams – two best actors in one stupid movie!!!!!!!!!!!!
And who remember this movie now?!
I hope this film will fail before it started!
No One made this up it is based on a true police investigation that happened in 1983– this man killed 24 women– the movie is not glorifying the killings but its emphasis is based on the police investigation that took place- which lead to the capture of the murder.
wow!! this movie has to be awesome! wonder if they need extras? would love to help! lol….soo cannot wait for this movie! Con-Air re-union, two great actors and a notorious alaskan killer…awesome!
id like to know when they will be doing auditions for this movie
.even though this happen many years before i still have a problem knowing that the person i grew up with and is a first cousin of mine that he could do what he did, with the family he had and the backgroung he came from i saw first hand what effect this had on his parents & sister. many lives on people who know him personal from his childhood to their own death they never where able to accept the reality that he in fact did all the things he did. alot of people will be effected by this movie not necessary how he did what he did but the real reasons behind it
I don’t know if you understand that this movie is based on a true story, and I really don’t think you give a danm. So while watching it I hope You can remember that the women that were hunted like animals was someones daughter, mother, sister, and the one that got away happen to be my relative .. Sorry if i wasted your time.
when will this movie be released? I’m in anchorage alaska
