EXCLUSIVE: Niels Arden Oplev is in negotiations to direct Game Theory, a feature for Summit Entertainment and Participant Media. The screenplay, written by Michael Alan Lerner, centers on a college professor and game theorist who gets sucked into a large-scale global crisis. Temple Hill Entertainment is producing with Alex Goldstone and Adam Shulman of Anonymous Content. Summit president of production Erik Feig and VP production Gillian Bohrer are overseeing the project for the studio. Oplev, the Danish director who helmed the original version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, recently directed the pilot for CBS’ upcoming drama The Rememberer. He is repped by ICM.

Love Neils. He needs to get back to movies. Who doesn’t love Alex Goldstone. Great get hope they make it soon.
Is this the War Games remake, or a competing project?
Would. you. like. to. play. a. game? Um… 2.
Co-sign on Oplev, and I’m a big Goldstone fan too.
Good call by Erik Feig – the two TATTOO sequels were lousy; Oplev did a great job translating the first book. It seems like a layup now that it’s happened, but it was no easy feat. The whole franchise is due to Oplev’s careful creation of those film versions of the book’s characters.
