A new internal memo was sent by the Hollywood agency to all Paradigm employees with the subject heading: “Important Paradigm Update – We have informed Jose Baez tonight that we will not be representing him.” Asked for comment, a Paradigm insider tells me, “In the end it’s just not who we are.” I can only imagine what the blowback must have been like.

I totally agree, Charles. NOBODY should allow Baez and especially Casey to make money off of Caylee’s death. Just because the jury found her “not guilty” doesn’t mean that she is innocent of committing the murder.

Anybody with a grain of common sense can “reasonahly” conclude the grandfather HAD nothing to do with the death, thus “no accident.”
Actually, I think it WAS an accident, but couldn’t be admitted because it was aggravated child abuse, i.e., eligible for First Degree murder.
CA was using the car’s trunk as a cheap babysitter, drugging the child to make her sleep, and using choloroform to immobolize her so she could wrap the tape around her mouth, to keep her from crying and alerting someone of her presence in the trunk should she wake up. Upon disovering she’d overdosed and killed her child, she panicked – closed the tunk and pretended nothing happened, until she realized she was finally “free” – which took all of maybe eight hours? That’s why the trunk stunk…’cause she just left her there until the stench forced her to face the reality, and she had to ditch the body AND the car.
Casey’s just a a willfull young woman who did the idiot kind of thing a young woman might dream up to keep on with the partying ways her Mother was suggesting she give up.
Bottom line: A defiant “I’ll show her,” turned into a mysterious, complex murder case with a sickening outcome.
If someone made a movie exploring that plot line, I’d watch.
Not guilty does not mean innocent. This young”lady” is far from innocent. The State did lay out a fine case, perhaps the jury did not understand reasonable doubt. It is also quite possible that they could not have read the jury instructions because they are almost 30 pages long and would have taken several hours to go through and attempt to understand. That would have taken more than 11 hours. This document also includes an explanation of child abuse and it is quite clear who was in charge of the child and who was responsible for any actions that might have led to harm. No excuse for throwing people under the bus esp Jesse Grund. Shame. @mar bern… whether anyone likes it or not, the state did NOT put on a fine case – never tied anything together, only left jurors with the obvious: the child is dead. What they DIDN’t do was prove beyond a REASONABLE DOUBT that Casey was the one responsible. Like many have said, not guilty is not innocent. Fortunately we live in a country where you’re presumed innocent, not like many places where the burden rests with the defense to prove innocence. Wouldn’t want it any other way. The prosecution messed this up from the get go. Overcharged her and the jury DID understand. Read Florida statues for AGGRAVATED CHILD ABUSE. Unfortunately it wasn’t proven, they failed big time at their job going for the big win,capital murder, when they could prosecuted for lessor felony charges, won, and proceeded with more charges later if desired. The prosecutor saw this as his big opport to make a name for himself and he did..LOSER.Congrats to the defense team for doing their job and well. Did she do it? Noone knows for sure, the evidence only showed she defintely knows what happened, but doesn,t allow for a conviction. For the record, I also believe she’s guilty as hell, but the state fubar’d the whole case.

While you are right that if she except Christ as her savior he will forgive her,HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean she can just walk away and do what ever she wants to do. If a christian breaks the law, Christ will forgive them, but they will have to pay the fines, go to prison, or whatever the punishment is. Both were on OJ’s team, and yet no one is up in arms at their successes and infamy and associations. Why should anyone be surprised or offended by Baez getting this attention?

The kardashians aren’t famous simply b/c of him and his infamy. yeah, the name was recognizable, and his position and wealth made it so that they ran in certain circles.

And when the baby is finally found DEAD, she doesn’t have anything to say about it. Without googling it — name ONE. Get back to us. Your post is idiotic and you probably don’t have any children. Ever lose sight of a child in a store? Do you know that panic? Or not being able to find your child on a playground for a few minutes? Do you have ANY idea of the relief when you find them and how frantic and sick you are when you can’t see them right away? Had Caylee been my daughter, I’d have had the entire state of Florida looking for her within 5 minutes. Had she drowned in a pool, I’d have been on 911 IMMEDIATELY and had every doctor in town working to save her, and if someone had threatened me and tried to take away my child, they’d have had to kill me where I stood and I’ll tell you what, I’d have either taken them with me, or I’d have left them so disfigured they’d have wished they’d been killed. They’d have had to crawl away from my dead body to get my kid. Move on, indeed.

There may not have been enough evidence to convict Casey till her own attorney provided it: the story of Caylee drowning in the pool and the father making it look like a murder is so astoundingly bogus, against any possibility of logic or real human behavior, that only the dumbest jury in United States history could have failed to recognize that only the real killer could have concocted such an absurd and unlikely alternative. And guess which jury they got?
Baez is an idiot who won the “dumb jury” lottery, Jill, and two questions for you: do you believe the drowning story? If a lawyer made up such a story which laid the blame for something their client did on you, would you feel good about an agency signing that lawyer up?
Actually, he stacked the jury in his favor through clever legal maneuvering before the trial ever began.
Or maybe the jury wasn’t stupid at all. They deliberated for only 11 hours. That’s nothing on a 30 day trial. They knew their verdict going into that room. They were there in the courtroom. They saw all the evidence, heard all the arguments, they know SO much better than you.
The state’s case was entirely based on circumstantial evidence. If you really support convicting someone for murder based wholly on circumstantial evidence, then you are the fool because you’re arguing against your own civil liberties based upon slanted, fear-mongering “news reporting”.
I’m not saying this woman is innocent; She probably did it. I’m saying that we have a system in this country that most often screws you over if you’re accused and to protest against the very few safeguards you have sets a dangerous precedence.
That said, I don’t think it reflects well on Paradigm to sign the guy. Glad they fired him already.
Tawdry, I don’t recall saying we should change the system or overturn the jury’s decision: I’m saying this defendant and lawyer got lucky. He made enormous blunders, opening lines of questioning which hurt his client, and presented a defense that could only work in the absence of abstract thinking by the jury, which he got. He was aided by what appears to be Cindy’s motherly instinct to keep her daughter off death row with her testimony about googling chloroform and being home when she was clocked in at work.
Many murder convictions are won on circumstantial evidence, in the complete absence of physical evidence, witnesses, or even a body, based on the defendant making statements and taking actions that are preposterously at odds with any conceivable human behavior except guilt. This was one of those cases, but the jury focused on the lack of any CSI-style, forensic smoking gun. This unrealistic expectation from less sophisticated juries has become a problem for prosecutors. It’s also possible the prosecution overreached by going after the death penalty without such a smoking gun.
Most convicted criminals have been convicted in fact by circumstantial evidence. I guess for now on we need to have the crime being committed recorded on video in order to get justice? Oh, no, wait… most of the time videos are not admitted into evidence either.
I believe the 12 idiots either just wanted to go home, therefore taking the easy way out by declaring her not guilty so they didn’t have to stay around for the second phase of the trial, the death penalty phase, or the 12 idiots are not so idiots after all. Maybe they each had personal motives in this case, like maybe making money on interviews on such controversial verdict?
People, let’s not be naive; everyone involved in Casey’s defense was in it for MONEY and fame, including the 12 idiots, but that is how our justice system works, OR NOT…

I honestly think Nancy Grace is a more disgusting person than Anthony. Not even being glib. Anthony seems to have some serious mental and emotional problems, Grace is just a vile vulture who is making a career out of exploiting the suffering of others. She plays up a faux moral outrage as if she doesn’t directly benefit from this type of tragedy. And frankly, the not guilty verdict is the best case scenario for Grace, now she can wring stories out of this case for months, if not years, to come.

A baby dies/is murdered, this guy gets the last person to have seen her off (after the baby is unreported missing for over a month and his client lies about it) and over 80% of the country throws up in their mouths, and the defense attorney is signed by an agent…who made this decision? Most of America wouldn’t even want to be within 50 yards of this guy or anyone on that team. Broadcasting? Movie rights? Who’s watch him? Who’d make or watch a movie about this tragedy where only the defendant wins and a baby dies? Terrible. Sad. And WEIRD.
