Is the Rev. Al Sharpton about to land his own show on MSNBC? The network isn’t commenting about the possibility, raised today by TVNewser. But the web site says it’s being considered after the controversial civil rights activist generated decent ratings over the last two weeks while hosting the 6:00 PM ET newscast MSNBC Live. He filled in for radio talk show personality Cenk Uygur, who has been on vacation. The site says that Uygur “will remain a part of MSNBC in some capacity.”

Wow, MSNBC is quickly becoming King of the Sleazebags with all the infamous anchors they’ve been hiring & firing. The thought of listening to an hour of this guy makes me want to put a knife through my ears.
Great, It’s nice to see someone with a simalar background, perspective, hosting a show, instead of just giving a few words of input for a few minutes.
The squeaky wheel gets the oil, and African Americans have not had a voice for a long time. Rev. Al thank, you for being a squeaky wheel and standing up for the rights of all Americans.
“Urgur will remain…in some capacity”? Is going on vacation always such a risky proposition?
Is MSNBC trying to chase away viewers? cenk Uyger was doing a great job. “Hey Keith…how about bringing Cenk to Current?
Perfect.
Cenk’s done – there’s nothing special about him. Rev. Al is already a celebrity pundit – and would give MSNBC an African American host in primetime.
Don’t get me wrong I love Rev. Al as a Civil Rights Leader, but he not a newsman (journalist)….doesn’t have the experience or education for this position.
Help me al, I’ve been smeared again
Your friend
Tawana
If Al Sharpton would jerk off on air like he jerks off everything else where he can get his face some screen time…imagine what the ratings would be.
Put him with Charlie and Casey…and, call it “A Different View”…and, too add even more color…steal Whoopie and bring her to Al’s new (maybe) show.
That’s right. Don’t ever go on vacation for more than a day or two in the TV news business. Or find someone you know will be worse than you to keep the seat warm. Why do you think all of the late night show hosts run repeats when they go on vacation?
This gives me one more reason NOT to watch MSNBC. When Maddow finally leaves, they might as well fold the network.
Only if he learns to stop SHOUTING at the camera and everyone he interviews.
I’m a good lefty and a devoted watcher of MSNBC, but Rev. Al is really a clumsy and not very insightful host. Please, no.
YOUR – 100% RIGHT– I Watched his show and it sucked—– clumsy is the word !!
I totally agree. Sharpton is a circus freak.
I watch MSNBC all day long. But turn it off for The Rev Al. Wasn’t a big fan of Ed or Cenk either. They need to shore up that hour so they don’t lose audience. Especially since it is a lead-in to prime time.
I would imagine that MSNBC will be retooling the lineup closer to the election.
Supposedly, Chris Hayes will finish up writing a book by early fall and is already under contract to start hosting a new show at either 5 or 6.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see MSNBC shuffle the 5-8 hours — run Chris Hayes at 5, drop the “Hardball” rerun at 7, and either run “Hardball” as a two-hour show or move Chuck Todd from morning to 6 or 7 to host an election-oriented show.
If Rachel Maddow leaves for Current TV, I’d like to see MSNBC move “Hardball” to 8 to be the flagship show and move “The Last Word” to 9.
Bleck. Chuck Todd should be on FOX. Can’t stand that jerk. He’s the only one I can’t stand to listen to. Ick hate even thinking of his sneaky eyes and pompous ways.
If Rachel leaves for Current TV, what’s the point of MSNBC?
Can’t wait. Will watch it every night. Right after he apologizes for Tawana Brawley.
EXACTLY!!!!!
How this self-serving dirtball ever became legitimate is truly one of the 21st century’s great mysteries……Google “Sharpton and Crown Heights”, too.
Al Sharpton is an opportunistic rable rouser as is Cornel West.
i agree with your comment about Tawana Brawley. Sharpton should have been ashamed of himself, but, no–it kept him in the headlines and that is all he is about.
This is great! It gives MSNBC some much needed balance.
Sharpton is just to the RIGHT of every other talking head currently on there.
I’m as liberal as they come but I’m not a fan of anyone on MSNBC except for Rachel Maddow. Hiring Sharpton would make it even more unwatchable.
Google Tawana Brawley Case and read what scum bag Sharpton did to the city of NY and NEVER served a day in prison for it. MSNBC is a joke peppered with lefty whiner dopes. He will fit right in…..
LOL I saw this on my Twitter feed and the first thing I thought was white American outrage…LOL. Even libs are incensed and that’s saying something. Predictable as the sunrise, congrats! You’re nothing if not consistent
I really have missed Cenk while I THOUGHT he was on vacation.
The Rev. IS NOT A GOOD REPLACEMENT!!! I want Cenk. MSNBC is fast becoming as nasty as Fox.
RACE HUSTLING CHISELER AND MSNBC— PRICELESS!
I’m sure the ratings in Crown Heights will be spectacular.
Believe Tawana is going to co-host.
Clever ploy to make Chris Matthews seem less insane.
Maddow vetoes Sharpton as her “lead-in”, says she does’nt want to alienate her 30 viewers.
Uygur says, “Went on vacation and all I got was this stupid T-shirt that says SHARPTON IS HERE!”.
Olberman says to MSNBC, “Do ya miss me NOW!!!!!”.
COMCAST CEO Roberts says, “WHAT THE F**K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”.
Al would be terrific. He should also host SNL again.
Boy how low can they go. Just to show you that they have tried everything and now well i hope FOX sees this and puts Mr H Cain on tv after his W.H. bid comes to a close that is one black person that I would watch not AL Say it aint so.
NO!
Whenever one of my right-wing friends challenges me to name a “bad” liberal, Sharpton is the first name I give them (followed by Gloria Allred and Mike Malloy). Cenk was terrific and replacing him with this windy jackass is just another attempt to make MSNBC look bad in the wake of Keith’s departure.
I don’t know who Malloy is, but I agree completely re Sharpton and Allred. There are too many bad liberals as it is. We shoulodn’t advertise the fact by putting Sharpton out front. People will start to get the false idea that liberals are as crazy as Republicans — and no matter how many bad liberals we may know of (Cornell West, Anthony Weiner), they don’t COMPARE in ignorance, virulence, or raw numbers with the Tea Party lifeform.
I’m a dedicated MSNBC viewer of the O’Donnell-Maddow sort. I like MSNBC’s political slant and I also would like to see what racial and ethnic diversity can be managed among the lineup of hosts. But Sharpton is a bridge too far. He is neither well-educated nor well-informed, and he is not well-spoken. He is a street corner debater with no new information and little information of any kind or vintage. He tries to generate interest by being loud, aggressive, and belligerent. This is fine when the comments of a guest warrant it, but it isn’t a good default demeanor. Please don’t do this to us. When he comes on, I tune out and turn off — now, and if and when he is named a host.
Me too beleive that Al would be terrific if he can tone it down.
I wich Genk in return got the time slot of morning Joe or the repeat time of Chris Mathews. when a GOp is in a system he perverts it very quickly!
As long as everyone does his homework seriouly like Rachel, there is no worry. the worth senario when all repeat each other!
I respect Al Sharpton and like his progressive political outlook, but we miss Cenk.
Yugar is a vital outspoken champion for the working class. And, the working class needs him in their corner. He’s a fighter for what is truly right and wrong with government, politicians, and this country. His departure is a great loss to MSNBC. Realize that!
I also agree that Al, is not”the man” for this job,God bless him none rhe less! Cenk Yugar in my opinion made this show the MOST watchable show, not only on MSNBC, but anywhere else on television, especially since MSNBC’s latest blunder, dropping Keith Olberman, who now I watch on Current! I heard Mr. Yugar was criticized by some in Washington about his attitude, which as we all know is the highest PRAISE anyone could possibly receive! I arise at 3:30 every morning to make coffee and catch Rachel Maddow, although I”m so pissed about this Yuger on vacation MSNBC may join CNN and Fox, on my list of corporate ass kisser’s spreading gossip, lies and B.S. for the same corporation’s that control both them and our dysfuntional elected idiot’s in Washinton. I could care less about Moaning Joe and EGO Bryzenski, just put her Dad on instead! Chris Mathew’s like so many in Washinton, need’s to get out more, and quit talking OVER everyone, giving them a chance to speak! Lastly if ANYBODY ever cared what Pat Buchanon thought about ANYTHING…wouldn’t he have been elected President at least once! Sincerely hope Yuger, join’s Olberman on Current T.V. MSNBC like Washington D.C. is clueless, and like much of the Republican Party still living in the last century…”change the channell dear!”
Please tell me Yuger is on vacation and returning SOON! He is not only great but knowledgeable. If MSNBC is thinking of replacing him well then screw u guys. I don’t get it why Chris Mathews needs to be aired twice. Chris seems to suck up to these crazy right wingers and constantly talking over the other person which is fustrating. Keith Olbermann was a pleasure to watch and MSNBC literally push hime out. O’Donnell and Maddow I like and enjoy to watch but it is just a matter of time he pisses some big cheese off. How much can I take of Morning Joe tooting his horn of days in congress and the power of kicking folks off the network. Mika, the bafoon who is clueless on any issues and drools on NJ’S bully Gov. Krispy Kreme.
BRING BACK YUGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
