Now the question is whether this will coincide with Sarah Palin’s much speculated run for the Republican presidential nomination. Santa Monica-based distributor ARC Entertainment announced today that it will make the Sarah Palin biopic film The Undefeated available on video-on-demand and pay-per-view to approximately 75 million homes through major cable and satellite companies such as DIRECTV, DISH Network, and Time Warner Cable starting September 1st. The launch is to be backed by a multi-million-dollar marketing campaign. The DVD releases October 4th in stores nationwide with an initial shipment estimated at 250,000 units. Walmart is to receive a “special edition” version of the film. Meanwhile, The Undefeated‘s limited engagement theatrical release will continue nationwide throughout August and September after opening in select markets July 15th and making only $101,000 in box office grosses as of today. “The Undefeated is a terrific case study for a digital cinema release,” Jill Newhouse Calcaterra, chief marketing officer at Cinedigm, the film’s digital distributor, said in a statement. Written and directed by Stephen K. Bannon and produced by Victory Film Group co-founder Glenn Bracken Evans and Dan Fleuette with Palin’s full cooperation, The Undefeated was independently financed by Victory Film Group and its partners.

I’ll just jump right in: Palin is not running for president. She has no money, no organization and no desire. Added to that is a serious lag behind the other candidates and the fact that Michelle Bachmann has taken her spot.
You need serious money, organization and will to run for president. Palin has none of this. Seriously, she raised a paltry $1.6 million for SarahPAC. She cannot bring in the big money like Romney and now Bachmann. And you cannot win a single delegate waging a media campaign. Just ask President Giuliani.
I agree with you, however, I have a close friend who works in politics (solely during election times), and word is there is a frantic rush to organize and get Palin to announce in September. One man has sold his house to set up organization in NH and another lady in Chicago has quit the law firm where she has worked for eons to organize as well.
I think it’s pointless, but I do love seeing as much crazy as possible, so I hope her “organizers” can pull it off and get her butt in gear before NH.

How much did this film gross during the theatrical run? Does anyone know? Seems to be getting a lot of press for a box office flop.

it was only shown in a few theatres. it’s not a ‘flop” as you say. It’s a true Documentary. I’m waiting anxiously to see it. It’s her real life. I doubt you’ve seen it since you call it a “flop”

I’m still amazed ANY person who’s aware of current events and politics would actually give their money to watch a lame propaganda film.
Even though it’s intrinsically evil, it is a much better example of film making I’d recommend, to people like (I hope he’s joking) Carlton West, Triumph of The Will. It comes from the same end of the political spectrum as Sarah Failin’ and her Tea Party (inbred) brethren.

A biopic about someone who quits her gubernatorial position halfway through her first term only to LOSE the 2008 presidential campaign in the VP role is called “The Undefeated”?

Truth told, political docs really don’t make much money in box office so trying to deflate “Undefeated’s,” box office gross is counterproductive. On its own merit, it hasn’t done too badly considering at the end of the day, its a “very,” small release.
The Hollywood based ones have million dollar advertising and entire months to set them their box office runs. Whether I agree with Palin or not on anything shouldn’t have me try to paint this film as a “failure,” when it didn’t do too badly.
Excuses are for losers.
Palin has no intention to run for any public office. She is keeping her name in the press and selling her product. It’s just that simple.
