WHY?!?! God, that show sucks. Leave it to Stealberg to sugar-coat the post-apocalyptic.
Agreed, it’s a disappointingly mediocre show. But what exactly is Spielberg doing to “sugar-coat the post-apocalyptic”? Have you visited a future Earth after the aliens have invaded? Or do you just long for the hard-bitten realism of Independence Day?
My husband and I are really enjoying this show. Since Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis ended, we had been looking for something new. We have watched all the Dr. Who to date and are also enjoying Torchwood Miracle Day. It is a shame that we will have to wait so long for the second season. This show has alot of potential and I am eager to see how it develops.
Good show. I really like it. Not great … but could morph into it, but still really good.
Just give it 50 episodes and then start watching…
You’re supposed to come out of the gate swinging, not limping. Shame on Yost and Co. for backing this glue-factory reject.
Glad to see it has an audience…I couldn’t get past three episodes.
LOVE IT! So happy to hear it’s doing well!
Noah Wyle and TNT deserve better then what this staff is churning out.
The pilot and second episode were enough for me… such a REHASH.
I don’t know what it is but its so missing something. Get rid of the kids next season- at 10 pm you don’t need to try an appeal to children and they add nothing to the plot
The kids add nothing to the plot? Have you even watched this or are you just repeating the drivel you’ve read about this show? The kids are a major plot point – the aliens abduct them, attach what look like biomechanical things to them and use them as labor and who knows what else. The kids are a major plot/story point. And this series is growing on me – it’s taking some time finding it’s feet, but I think it’s got some legs to it and given enough time can become a really good show.
Agree, wayyyyyy to much schmaltz in the pilot (yet to see the rest, so maybe it gets better).
However, and this is a big HOWEVER, big eye roll when I saw the aliens. GOD, do they all have to be slimy lizard with claws? Really those things figured out how to fly through the galaxy at light speed and we haven’t gone to Mars yet? I think it would have been way more interesting if the invading forces were just robots, the way we sent the little Rovers to Mars. Fight that, Noah!
I like the show and I have kept watching it, but it feels like the screenwriters have decided to rip off a lot of other alien and post apocalypse movies, it’s time Spielberg steps in and tells them to be original.
And I agree that this show is very sugar coated, people don’t seem to be desperate enough in this world with aliens hunting them down. And it just has such corny moments.
I woudn’t doubt if Spielberg never even read the script or saw a cut…
This is a name only project, Folks. His real involvement requires an Amblin Seal Of Approval… otherwise, you’re just getting his agents and lawyers okay.
Let’s hope he actually gave a few notes on Terra Nova… but that’s doubtful too.
Good. I like this show, although I agree it has issues to be ironed out.
I tried to like it… sitting through the 2-hour premiere was painful, and I was hoping that with the next episode only having one hour, it have a tighter pacing. The characters are forgettable, the world feels hollow, and the pacing painfully slow. I just can’t sit through any more episodes, hoping they get more interesting.
It’s Walking Dead with aliens.
this is like torture.
What an god awful show. I really hope that this isn’t bad news for Men of a Certain Age, which had an incredibly strong second season. Falling Skies on the other hand is one single snore.

I love these type of shows and a would have eaten it up as a teen but I couldn’t even make it through the first episode the dialogue was so terrible. Also I could not get over the premise that Aliens were able to wipe out every soldier on the planet yet they can’t even pick off a few shmucks with rifles on foot.
After Mr. Happy Ending fired Megan Fox over the Hitler incident( like Michael Bay is really that far off) I could care less what he attaches his name to. Spielberg is as outdated as the 80′s.
Dumb, dumb show. I cannot believe it got another season already. Me and best friend have watched the first three episodes and halfway through the first we had started pointing out the massive plot holes to one another. These survivors are so stupid that we have no logical reason as to why they are still alive besides that’s what the scripts say.
Boring show. And Noah Wyle is not a leading man – he’s bland and wimpy, wimpy, wimpy.
Tuned in Sunday nite to watch some commercials and this show kept popping up for 3 or 4 minutes to every 15 minutes to interupt my commercial viewing….very annoying!
I really like the show and I think it has further potential to grow and become even better. I like the fact that it’s not all visual effects all the time. I’m not a fan of Independence day so maybe that’s why.
The Walking Dead show is sooooo much better than Falling Skies. ANDREW LINCOLN IS SO AWESOME
It would be a decent show if it was in a 30 minute slot with only 1 or 2 commercial breaks… but when 15 minutes of time has only 6.5 minutes of show… I will wait for the DVD.
I have to laugh when I hear that something is God Awful. This show is far from God Awful. Is it the best show on TV? No. But, it’s got some good qualities that if given time can make the show better. The show is in its first season and needs to work out the kinks. Last weeks episode was much better than the first few episodes so I have hope that it will improve.
And, Men of a Certain Age bores the shit out of me.
This show is such a bore. Acting is such a snore. Noah and his eldest son are like watching paint dry.
I heard the junior high kids who do the visual fx in Maya are going to unionize.
